आगमन का दूसरा सप्ताह, शनिवार

📒 पहला पाठ: प्रवक्ता-ग्रन्थ 48:1-4.9-11

1) तब एलियाह अग्नि की तरह प्रकट हुए। उनकी वाणी धधकती मशाल के सदृश थी।

2) उन्होंने उनके देश में अकाल भेजा और अपने धर्मोत्साह में उनकी संख्या घटायी।

3) उन्होंने प्रभु के वचन से आकाश के द्वार बन्द किये और तीन बार आकाश से अग्नि गिरायी।

4) एलियाह! आप अपने चमत्कारों के कारण कितने महान् है! आपके सदृश होने का दावा कौन कर सकता है!

9) आप अग्नि की आँधी में अग्निमय अश्वों के रथ में आरोहित कर लिये गये।

10) आपके विषय में लिखा है, कि आप निर्धारित समय पर चेतावनी देने आयेंगे, जिससे ईश्वरीय प्रकोप भड़कने से पहले ही आप उसे शान्त करें, पिता और पुत्र का मेल करायें और इस्राएल के वंशों का पुनरुद्धार करें।

11) धन्य हैं वे, जिन्होंने आपके दर्शन किये, जो आपके प्रेम से सम्मानित हुए!

📙 सुसमाचार : सन्त मत्ती 17:9a.10-13

9) पहाड़ से उतरते समय उनके शिष्यों ने उन से पूछा, ’’शास्त्री यह क्यों कहते हैं कि पहले एलियस को आना है?’’

11) ईसा ने उत्तर दिया, ’’एलियस अवश्य सब कुछ ठीक करने आयेगा।

12) परन्तु मैं तुम लोगों से कहता हूँ- एलियस आ चुका है। उन्होंने उसे नहीं पहचाना और उसके साथ मनमाना व्यवहार किया। उसी तरह मानव पुत्र भी उनके हाथों दुःख उठायेगा।’’

13) तब वे समझ गये कि ईसा योहन बपतिस्ता के विषय में कह रहे हैं।

📚 मनन-चिंतन

नबी एलियाह ने पश्चाताप का उपदेश देते हुए लोगों से अपनी मूर्ति-पूजा छोड़ने को कहा। ऐसा करने पर उन्हें राजा अहाब और रानी ईज़ेबेल के गुस्से का सामना करना पड़ा। उन्होंने कार्मल पर्वत पर बाल देव के चार सौ पचास नबियों तथा अशेरा देव के चार सौ नबियों का सामना किया। वे नहीं चाहते थे कि दो अलग-अलग मतों के साथ इस्राएली लोग लंगड़ा कर चलें। उन्होंने उन्हें या तो प्रभु ईश्वर पर विश्वास करने या बाल देव पर विश्वास करने का निर्णय लेने के लिए मजबूर किया। नबी एलियाह के मनोभाव और और शक्ति ले कर आए संत योहन बपतिस्ता चाहते थे कि लोग अपने पापपूर्ण तरीकों से दूर जाएं और ईश्वर में अपने विश्वास को स्पष्ट करें। उन्होंने इस्राएल के सभी लोगों के सामने यह चुनौती रखी। जैसा कि हम क्रिसमस के महान पर्व की ओर बढ़ रहे हैं, प्रभु चाहते हैं कि हम पश्चाताप करें और उन पर विश्वास करें।

📚 REFLECTION

Elijah was a prophet who preached repentance asking people to give up their idol worship. Elijah had to face the fury of Ahab and the king and Jezebel the queen. He confronted four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal and the four hundred prophets of Asherah at Mount Carmel. He did not want the Israelites to go limping with two different options – worship of God or that of idols. He forced them to make a decision either to follow Yahweh or Baal. St. John the Baptist who came in the spirit and power of Elijah also wanted the people to move away from their sinful ways and make a clear choice for God. This was the challenge thrown by him before all the people of Israel. As we approach the great feast of Christmas the Lord wants us to repent and make a clear choice him.

आगमन का दूसरा सप्ताह, शुक्रवार

📒 पहला पाठ: इसायाह का ग्रन्थ 48:17-19

17) प्रभु, इस्राएल का परमपावन ईश्वर, तुम्हारा उद्धारक यह कहता हैः “मैं प्रभु, तुम्हारा ईश्वर हूँ। मैं तुम्हें कल्याण की बातें बतलाता हूँ और मार्ग में तुम्हारा पथप्रदर्शन करता हूँ।

18) “यदि तुमने मेरी आज्ञाओं का पालन किया होता, तो तुम्हारी सुख-शान्ति नदी की तरह उमड़ती रहती और तुम्हारी धार्मिकता समुद्र की लहरों की तरह।

19) “तुम्हारे वंशज बालू की तरह हो गये होते, तुम्हारी सन्तति उसके कणों की तरह असंख्य हो जाती। उसका नाम कभी नहीं मिटता और मैं उसे कभी अपनी दृष्टि से दूर नहीं करता।“

📙 सुसमाचार : सन्त मत्ती 11:16-19

16) ’’मैं इस पीढ़ी की तुलना किस से करूँ? वे बाजार में बैठे हुए छोकरों के सदृश हैं, जो अपने साथियों को पुकार कर कहते हैं-

17) हमने तुम्हारे लिए बाँसुरी बजायी और तुम नहीं नाचे, हमने विलाप किया और तुमने छाती नहीं पीटी;

18) क्योंकि योहन बपतिस्ता आया, जो न खाता और न पीता है और वे कहते हैं- उसे अपदूत लगा है।

19) मानव पुत्र आया, जो खाता-पीता है और वे कहते हैं- देखो, यह आदमी पेटू और पियक्कड़ है, नाकेदारों और पापियों का मित्र है। किन्तु ईश्वर की प्रज्ञा परिणामों द्वारा सही प्रमाणित हुई है।’’

📚 मनन-चिंतन

दूसरी वतिकान महासभा के अनुसार, "कलीसिया का हमेशा से यह कर्तव्य रहा है कि वह समय के संकेतों की छानबीन करें और उन्हें सुसमाचार के प्रकाश में व्याख्या करे" (GS 4)। हमें विभिन्न परिस्थितियों में ईश्वर द्वारा दी जाने वाली चुनौतियों के अनुसार कार्य करने का आह्वान किया जाता है। जब हम चाहें तब कुछ अच्छा करना काफी नहीं है। हमें दिए गए समय में दिए गए स्थान पर, दिए गए व्यक्तियों के लिए समय की मांग के अनुसार तथा प्रभु ईश्वर की इच्छा के अनुसार भलाई के कार्य करना चाहिए। हर दिन हमारा जीवन नई चुनौतियां लाता है। इसके लिए हमें प्रभु के पवित्र आत्मा की आवाज सुनते रहना चाहिए और उसके अनुसार कार्य करना चाहिए। प्रभु येसु के समय के लोगों ने योहन बपतिस्ता में ईश्वर के निमंत्रण का जवाब नहीं दिया। न ही वे प्रभु येसु में ईश्वर के निमंत्रण का जवाब देने के लिए तैयार थे। इस प्रकार प्रभु ईश्वर की प्रेरणा का नज़र अंदाज़ करते हुए उन्होंने अपने उद्धार के कई अवसर खो दिए। हम समय के चिन्हों तथा संकेतों को पहचानने तथा प्रभु ईश्वर की इच्छा को जान कर उस के अनुसार कार्य करने का प्रयत्न करें।

📚 REFLECTION

According to the Second Vatican Council, “the Church has always had the duty of scrutinizing the signs of the times and of interpreting them in the light of the Gospel” (GS 4). We are called upon to act according the challenges thrown by God in different situations. It is not enough to do some good when we like to. We need to do the good demanded in the given time, in the given space for the given persons. Every day our life brings fresh challenges. For this we need to keep listening to the whispering of the Spirit of the Lord and act accordingly. People of Jesus’ time did not respond to God’s invitation in John the Baptist. Nor were they ready to respond to God’s invitation in Jesus Christ. They did not have the same wavelength with John the Baptist or with Jesus. Therefore they lost many opportunities for their salvation.

📒 पहला पाठ: इसायाह का ग्रन्थ 41:13-20

13) क्योंकि मैं तुम्हारा प्रभु-ईश्वर हूँ। मैं तुम्हारा दाहिना हाथ पकड़ कर तुम से कहता हूँ- मत डरो, देखो, मैं तुम्हारी सहायता करूँगा।

14) याकूब! तुम कीड़े-जैसे हो गये हो। इस्राएल! तुम शव-जैसे हो गये हो। प्रभु कहता है- मैं तुम्हारी सहायता करूँगा, इस्राएल का परमपावन प्रभु तुम्हारा उद्धारक है।

15) मैं तुम, को दँवरी का यन्त्र बनाता हूँ- नया, दुधारा और पैना। तुम पहाड़ों को दाँव कर चूर-चूर करोगे और पहाड़ियों को भूसी बना दोगे।

16) तुम उन्हें ओसाओगे- हवा उन्हें उड़ा ले जायेगी और आँधी उन्हें छितरा देगी। तुम प्रभु में आनन्द मनाओगे और इस्राएल के परमपावन ईश्वर पर गौरव करोगे।

17) “दरिद्र पानी ढूँढते हैं और पाते नहीं, उनकी जीभ प्यास के मारे सूख गयी है। मैं, प्रभु, उनकी दुहाई पर ध्यान दूँगा; मैं, इस्राएल का ईश्वर, उन्हें नहीं त्यागूँगा।

18) मैं उजाड़ पहाड़ियों पर से नदियाँ और घाटियों में जलधाराएँ बहा दूँगा। मैं मरुभूमि को झील बनाऊँगा और सूखी भूमि को जलस्रोतों से भर दूँगा।

19) मैं मरुभूमि में देवदार, बबूल, मेंहदी और जैतून लगा दूँगा। मैं उजाड़खण्ड में खजूर, चीड़ और चनार के वृक्ष लगाऊँगा।

20) इस प्रकार सब देख कर जानेंगे, सब उस पर विचार कर स्वीकार करेंगे कि प्रभु ने यह सब किया है, इस्राएल के परमपावन ईश्वर ने इसकी सृष्टि की है।“

📙 सुसमाचार : सन्त मत्ती 11:11-15

11) मैं तुम लोगों से यह कहता हूँ - मनुष्यों में योहन बपतिस्ता से बड़ा कोई पैदा नहीं हुआ। फिर भी, स्वर्ग राज्य में जो सबसे छोटा है, वह योहन से बड़ा है।

12) ’’योहन बपतिस्ता के समय से आज तक लोग स्वर्गराज्य के लिए बहुत प्रयत्न कर रहे हैं और जिन में उत्साह है, वे उस पर अधिकार प्राप्त करते हैं।

13) ’’योहन तक के नबी, और संहिता भी, सब-के-सब राज्य के विषय में केवल भविष्य वाणी कर सके।

14) तुम चाहो, तो मेरी बात मान लो कि योहन वही एलियस है, जो आने वाला था।

15) जिसके कान हों, वह सुन ले।

📚 मनन-चिंतन

आज के सुसमाचार में प्रभु येसु संत योहन बपतिस्ता को मसीह के आगमन के पहले धरती पर लौटने वाले नबी एलियस के रूप में प्रस्तुत करते हैं। क्या प्रभु येसु नबी एलियस की शारीरिक वापसी के बारे में बोल रहे हैं? मलआकी 4:5-6 में हम यह भविष्यवाणी पढ़ते हैं: “देखो, उस महान् एवं भयानक दिन के पहले, प्रभु के दिन के पहले, मैं नबी एलियाह को तुम्हारे पास भेजूँगा। वह पिता का हृदय पुत्र की ओर अभिमुख करेगा और पुत्र का हृदय पिता की ओर। कहीं ऐसा न हो कि मैं आ कर देश का सर्वनाश कर दूँ।" प्रवक्ता 48:10 नबी एलियस के विषय में कहता है, “आपके विषय में लिखा है, कि आप निर्धारित समय पर चेतावनी देने आयेंगे, जिससे ईश्वरीय प्रकोप भड़कने से पहले ही आप उसे शान्त करें, पिता और पुत्र का मेल करायें और इस्राएल के वंशों का पुनरुद्धार करें।” स्वर्गदूत गब्रिएल योहन बपतिस्ता के जन्म के बारे जकरियस से कहा, “वह पिता और पुत्र का मेल कराने, स्वेच्छाचारियों को धर्मियों की सद्बुद्धि प्रदान करने और प्रभु के लिए एक सुयोग्य प्रजा तैयार करने के लिए एलियस के मनोभाव और सामर्थ्य से सम्पन्न प्रभु का अग्रदूत बनेगा।” (लूकस 1:17) जब स्वर्गदूत कहते हैं कि वे एलियस के मनोभाव और सामर्थ्य से सम्पन्न प्रभु का अग्रदूत बनेगा, तब यह स्पष्ट होता है कि हमें नबी एलियस के वापस आने का शाब्दिक अर्थ नहीं निकालना चाहिए। एलियस पवित्र आत्मा के प्रभाव से कार्य करते थे तथा पश्चात्ताप का सन्देश देते थे। इसी प्रकार सन्त योहन बपतिस्ता भी पश्चात्ताप का सन्देश सुनाने आते हैं। हमें भी इस आगमन-काल में पश्चात्ताप कर प्रभु को अपने दिल में आमंत्रित करना होगा ताकि हम क्रिसमस को बड़े हर्षोल्लास के साथ मना सकें।

📚 REFLECTION

In today’s Gospel Jesus presents John the Baptist as “Elijah who was to return” before the coming of the Messiah. Is Jesus speaking about the literal return of prophet Elijah? In Mal 4:5-6 we read the prophecy: “Lo, I will send you the prophet Elijah before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes. He will turn the hearts of parents to their children and the hearts of children to their parents, so that I will not come and strike the land with a curse.” Sir 48:10 tells about Elijah’s coming in these words: “At the appointed time, it is written, you are destined to calm the wrath of God before it breaks out in fury, to turn the hearts of parents to their children, and to restore the tribes of Jacob.” When Angel Gabriel spoke to Zachariah about the birth of John the Baptist, he said, “With the spirit and power of Elijah he will go before him, to turn the hearts of parents to their children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.” (Lk 1:16-17) When the angel says, “with the spirit and power of Elijah”, it is clear that it is not about a literal returning of Elijah, but that the task of St. John the Baptist was similar to that of Prophet Elijah. Both these great prophets preached repentance. We too need to repent and invite the Lord into our hearts during this advent season so that we may be able to celebrate Christmas with great joy.

27 Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel: My way is hid from the Lord, and my judgment is passed over from my God?

28 Knowest thou not, or hast thou not heard? the Lord is the everlasting God, who hath created the ends of the earth: he shall not faint, nor labour, neither is there any searching out of his wisdom.

📒 पहला पाठ: इसायाह का ग्रन्थ 40:25-31

25) परमपावन ईश्वर कहता है, “तुम मेरी तुलना किस से करना चाहते हो? मेरी बराबरी कौन कर सकता है?“

26) आकाश की ओर दृष्टि लगाओ। किसने यह सब बनाया है? उसी ने, जो नक्षत्रों का समूह फैलाता और एक-एक का नाम ले कर पुकारता है। उसका सामर्थ्य इतना महान् है और उसका तेज इतना अदम्य कि एक भी नक्षत्र अविद्यमान नहीं रहता।

27) याकूब! तुम यह क्यों कहते हो, इस्राएल! तुम यह क्यों बोलते होः “प्रभु मेरी दुर्दशा पर ध्यान नहीं देता, मेरा ईश्वर मुझे न्याय नहीं दिलाता“?

28) क्या तुम यह नहीं जानते, क्या तुमने यह नहीं सुना कि प्रभु अनादि-अनन्त ईश्वर है, वह समस्त पृथ्वी का सृष्टिकर्ता है? वह कभी क्लान्त अथवा परिश्रन्त नहीं होता। कोई भी उसकी प्रज्ञा की थाह नहीं ले सकता।

29) वह थके-माँदे को बल देता और अशक्त को सँभालता है।

30) जवान भले ही थक कर चूर हो जायें और फिसल कर गिर पड़ें,

31) किन्तु प्रभु पर भरोसा रखने वालों को नयी स्फूर्ति मिलती रहती है। वे गरुड़ की तरह अपने पंख फैलाते हैं; वे दौड़ते रहते हैं, किन्तु थकते नहीं, वे आगे बढ़ते हैं, पर शिथिल नहीं होते।

📙 सुसमाचार : सन्त मत्ती 11:28-30

28) ’’थके-माँदे और बोझ से दबे हुए लोगो! तुम सभी मेरे पास आओ। मैं तुम्हें विश्राम दूँगा।

29) मेरा जूआ अपने ऊपर ले लो और मुझ से सीखो। मैं स्वभाव से नम्र और विनीत हूँ। इस तरह तुम अपनी आत्मा के लिए शान्ति पाओगे,

30) क्योंकि मेरा जूआ सहज है और मेरा बोझ हल्का।’’

तनावों और संघर्षों के बीच दुनिया हमें आराम पाने के लिए कई तरीके प्रदान करती है। हम आराम और सांत्वना के लिए विभिन्न लोगों, अभ्यासों और उपचारों की ओर मुड़ते हैं। आज के सुसमाचार-पाठ के द्वारा हमें यह समझाया जाता है कि हमें वास्तविक आराम प्रभु ईश्वर ही दे सकते हैं। प्रभु येसु थके-माँदे और बोझ से दबे हुए लोगों को अपने पास बुलाते हैं ताकि वे सब सच्चा आराम पा सकें। वे हमें दिलासा देते और आराम कराते हैं। वास्तविक और स्थायी आराम और सांत्वना प्रभु की ओर से आती है। और जो ईश्वर से आराम पाते हैं, वे दूसरों को दिलासा देने में सक्षम हैं। संत पौलुस कहते हैं, "धन्य है ईश्वर, हमारे प्रभु ईसा मसीह का पिता, परमदयालु पिता और हर प्रकार की सान्त्वना का ईश्वर। वह सारी दुःख तकलीफ़ में हम को सान्त्वना देता रहता है, जिसमें ईश्वर की ओर से हमें जो सान्त्वना मिलती है, उसके द्वारा हम दूसरों को भी, उनकी हर प्रकार की तकलीफ में सान्त्वना देने के लिए समर्थ हो जायें” (2कुरिन्थियों 1: 3-4)। नबी इसायाह के माध्य्म से प्रभु हम से वादा करते हैं, "जिस तरह माँ अपने पुत्र को दिलासा देती है, उसी तरह मैं तुम्हें सान्त्वना दूँगा। तुम्हें येरूसालेम से दिलासा मिलेगा।" (इसायाह 66:13)। हमारी प्रार्थना का समय प्रभु येसु से आराम पाने का समय है जो कहते हैं, "धन्य हैं वे, जो शोक करते हैं! उन्हें सान्त्वना मिलेगी।" (मत्ती 5: 5)

📚 REFLECTION

The world offers many ways to relax and to find comfort in the midst of our tensions and struggles. We turn to different people and various exercises and therapies for comfort and consolation. Through the passage of the Gospel, presented for our reflection in the Liturgy today the Lord tells us that it is God who should be comforting us. Jesus asks all who are overburdened to come to him. He assures us comfort and rest with him. Real and lasting comfort and consolation come from God. And those who are comforted by God in turn become capable of comforting others. St. Paul says, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all consolation, who consoles us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to console those who are in any affliction with the consolation with which we ourselves are consoled by God.” (2Cor 1:3-4). Through Prophet Isaiah he promises, “As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you” (Is 66:13). Our time of prayer is a time to find comfort in Jesus who says, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted” (Mt 5:4)
