First Reading: Philippians 1:18b-26

18 But what then? So that by all means, whether by occasion, or by truth, Christ be preached: in this also I rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.

19 For I know that this shall fall out to me unto salvation, through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,

20 According to my expectation and hope; that in nothing I shall be confounded, but with all confidence, as always, so now also shall Christ be magnified in my body, wither it be by life, or by death.

21 For to me, to live is Christ; and to die is gain.

22 And if to live in the flesh, this is to me the fruit of labour, and what I shall choose I know not.

23 But I am straitened between two: having a desire to be dissolved and to be with Christ, a thing by far the better.

24 But to abide still in the flesh, is needful for you.

25 And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide, and continue with you all, for your furtherance and joy of faith:

26 That your rejoicing may abound in Christ Jesus for me, by my coming to you again.

2 As the hart panteth after the fountains of water; so my soul panteth after thee, O God.

3 My soul hath thirsted after the strong living God; when shall I come and appear before the face of God?

5 These things I remembered, and poured out my soul in me: for I shall go over into the place of the wonderful tabernacle, even to the house of God: With the voice of joy and praise; the noise of one feasting.

Gospel: Luke 14: 1, 7-11

1 And it came to pass, when Jesus went into the house of one of the chief of the Pharisees, on the sabbath day, to eat bread, that they watched him.

7 And he spoke a parable also to them that were invited, marking how they chose the first seats at the table, saying to them:

8 When thou art invited to a wedding, sit not down in the first place, lest perhaps one more honourable than thou be invited by him:

9 And he that invited thee and him, come and say to thee, Give this man place: and then thou begin with shame to take the lowest place.

10 But when thou art invited, go, sit down in the lowest place; that when he who invited thee, cometh, he may say to thee: Friend, go up higher. Then shalt thou have glory before them that sit at table with thee.

11 Because every one that exalteth himself, shall be humbled; and he that humbleth himself, shall be exalted.

वर्ष का तीसवाँ सामान्य सप्ताह, शनिवार

📒 पहला पाठ फ़िलिप्पियों के नाम सन्त पौलुस का पत्र 1:18b-26

मैं इसी से आनन्दित हूँ। और मैं आनन्द मनाता ही रहूँगा,

19) क्योंकि मैं जानता हूँ कि आपकी प्रार्थनाओं और ईसा मसीह के आत्मा की सहायता द्वारा इन सब बातों का परिणाम यह होगा कि मैं मुक्त हो जाऊँगा।

20) मेरी हार्दिक अभिलाषा और आशा यह है कि चाहे मैं जीवित रहूँ या मरूँ, मुझे किसी बात पर लज्जित नहीं होना पड़ेगा और मसीह मुझ में महिमान्वित होंगे।

21) मेरे लिए तो जीवन है-मसीह, और मृत्यु है उनकी पूर्ण प्राप्ति।

22) किन्तु यदि मैं जीवित रहूँ, तो सफल परिश्रम कर सकता हूँ, इसलिए मैं नहीं समझ पाता कि क्या चुनूँ।

23) मैं दोनों ओर खिंचा हुआ हूँ। मैं तो चल देना और मसीह के साथ रहना चाहता हूँ। यह निश्चय ही सर्वोत्तम है;

24) किन्तु शरीर में मेरा विद्यमान रहना आप लोगों के लिए अधिक हितकर है।

25) मुझे पक्का विश्वास है कि मैं आपके साथ रह कर आपकी सहायता करूँगा, जिससे आपकी प्रगति हो और विश्वास में आपका आनन्द बढ़े।

26) इस प्रकार जब मैं फिर आपके यहाँ आऊँगा, तो आप मेरे कारण ईसा मसीह पर और भी गौरव कर सकेंगे।

📙 सुसमाचार : सन्त लूकस 14:1,7-11

1) ईसा किसी विश्राम के दिन एक प्रमुख फ़रीसी के यहाँ भोजन करने गये। वे लोग उनकी निगरानी कर रहे थे।

7) ईसा ने अतिथियों को मुख्य-मुख्य स्थान चुनते देख कर उन्हें यह दृष्टान्त सुनाया,

8) "विवाह में निमन्त्रित होने पर सब से अगले स्थान पर मत बैठो। कहीं ऐसा न हो कि तुम से प्रतिष्ठित कोई अतिथि निमन्त्रित हो

9) और जिसने तुम दोनों को निमन्त्रण दिया है, वह आ कर तुम से कहे, ’इन्हें अपनी जगह दीजिए’ और तुम्हें लज्जित हो कर सब से पिछले स्थान पर बैठना पड़े।

10) परन्तु जब तुम्हें निमन्त्रण मिले, तो जा कर सब से पिछले स्थान पर बैठो, जिससे निमन्त्रण देने वाला आ कर तुम से यह कहे, ’बन्धु! आगे बढ़ कर बैठिए’। इस प्रकार सभी अतिथियों के सामने तुम्हारा सम्मान होगा;

11) क्योंकि जो अपने को बड़ा मानता है, वह छोटा बनाया जायेगा और जो अपने को छोटा मानता है, वह बड़ा बनाया जायेगा।"

📚 मनन-चिंतन

आज के पाठों में जीवन के मतलब के बारे में शिक्षा है। कारागृह में रहते हुए संत पौलुस जीवन के अर्थ के बारे में फिलिप्पी के विश्वासियों को लिखते हैं। जीवन वह नहीं है जो केवल इस पृथ्वी पर अनुभव किया जाता है। ईश्वर के साथ हमेशा होने में जीवन अपनी पूर्णता तक पहुंचता है। इस प्रकार, संत पौलुस अपने सांसारिक जीवन को समाप्त करने के लिए तरसता है ताकि वह वास्तविक जीवन - मृत्यु के बाद के अनन्त जीवन में पहुँच सके। फिर भी उनको यह एहसास है कि उसके पास पृथ्वी पर जीवित रहने का एक सेवाकार्य है। अन्य लोगों की खातिर वह तब तक जीवित रहेगा जब तक प्रभु येसु उसे जीवित रखना चाहते हैं, फिर भी वह अपने प्रभु के साथ हमेशा का जीवन के लिए बेचैन है। इसलिए संत पौलुस कहता है "मेरे लिए तो जीवन है - मसीह, और प्रत्यु है उनकी पूर्ण प्राप्ति।"

आज का अनुवाक्य यह दर्शाता है कि ईश्वर की खोज में और उनकी प्राप्ति में ही मानव जीवन का अर्थ है।

सुसमाचार में प्रभु येसु सिखाता है कि जो लोग खुद को विनम्र बनाते हैं वे जीवन की पूर्णता का अनुभव करेंगे। सच्चा जीवन रिश्तों पर केंद्रित है - ईश्वर के साथ संबंध और दूसरों के साथ संबंध। गर्व, स्वार्थता और घृणा से भरे लोग जीवन का लाभ केवल अपने या अपने करीबी लोगों के लिए तलाशते हैं। हम येसु के अनुकरण करने के लिए बुलाये जाते है जो सेवा कराने के लिए नहीं बल्कि सेवा करने और अपना जीवन दूसरों के लिए समर्पित करने आये है।

आइए हम अपने आप से पूछें कि मेरा जीवन का मतलब क्या है? किस बात में मैं अपना जीवन की पूर्णता खोजता हूँ। क्या मैं केवल अपने आप को खुश करने के लिए स्वार्थी जीवन जी रहा हूं? प्रभु को पाना और उनके साथ निरंतर जीना अपना जीवन का लक्ष्य बनाओ।

📚 REFLECTION

Today’s readings answer the question about the meaning of life. From his prison St. Paul writes to the faithful in Philippi about the meaning of life. Life is not what is merely experienced in existence on this earth. Life reaches its fulfilment in being with God forever. Thus, Paul longs to finish his earthly sojourn so he can transition to real life – the eternal life after death. Yet, Paul also realizes that he has a ministry here on earth. For the sake of other people, he will continue to live as long as the Lord Jesus wants him to live, yet he can hardly wait until he can have life forever with his Lord and Master. St. Paul tells the Philippians that life is Christ and death is gain.

The Responsorial Psalm shows that life is fulfilled in searching for, and being satisfied by, the Living God.

In the Gospel Jesus remarks that those who humble themselves will experience the fullness of life. True life focuses on relationships – relationship with God and relationship with others. The proud, selfish, and haughty search for life only for themselves or their close friends and relatives. Yet self-seeking only leads away from true life. We are invited to imitate our Master-Teacher Who came to share our humanity, not to be served, but to serve, and to give His life so that others could live.

Let us ask ourselves, how would I define “life”? In what do I find fulfilment in my life? Do I seek life by selfishly trying to please only myself? Make Jesus and being with him the ultimate purpose of your life!

 कोन है आपके मित्र 

आपकी मित्रता जिसके साथ आप ज्यादा वक्त गुजारेंगे ! उस इंसान का या उसके विचार का आपके विचारों और आदतों पर प्रभाव पड़ेगा कुछ लोग कहते हैं हमारे बच्चे गांजा नहीं पीते थे, शराब नहीं पीते थे, सिनेमा देखने नहीं जाते थे मगर दोस्ती में पकड़ कर यह सब करने लगे चोरी और खून में पकड़े गए बेटे के बारे में भी मां-बाप यह कहते हैं! अरे क्या करें कोई गड़बड़ी नहीं थी परंतु गलत दोस्ती ने मेरे बेटे को बिगाड़ दिया ! हम मनुष्यों के सामने एक समस्या यह है कि हम अन्य लोगों को दबाव में आकर दोस्ती में आकर ऐसी बातें बोलते सोचते और करते हैं । जो हमारे लिए बोलना सोचना और करना उचित नहीं इस प्रकार की बातें मुझको नहीं मालूम कि लोग क्यों करते हैं विशेषकर हमारे देश में या सर्वसाधारण बात है प्रिय दोस्तों आप जिनके साथ मेल मिलाप रखते हैं यदि उनके बातें निराश उत्पन्न करने वाली है तो जीवन भी उस से मिलन हो जाएगा इस कारण आपकी दोस्ती ऐसे लोगों के साथ होनी चाहिए जिनकी बातें बलवान करने वाली और आशा उत्पन्न करने वाली हो ऐसे लोग जो भी बात करते हैं वह उनेजना जाना कि नहीं बल्कि निराश उत्पन्न करने वाली बातें करते हैं । सर्वप्रथम आप निराश उत्पन्न करने वाली डरपोक लोगों से और आपके अंदर निराश डालने वाले लोग से दूर रहो इस प्रकार के लोगों से दोस्ती ना करें इस प्रकार के मित्र यदि आपके हैं! तो उनके विदा ले ले आपके जीवन में किए गए पांच गलतियां जलन सब के बारे में आप कहेंगे, वास्तव में मुझे ऐसा करने नहीं चाहिए ! क्या करें उनके साथ दोस्ती कर मैं उस गलत कार्य करने को प्रेरित हो गया दोस्ती जब हम निराश होते हैं तब अक्सर गलत निर्णय लेते हैं!
