First Reading: Revelation 5:1-10

1 And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne, a book written within and without, sealed with seven seals.

2 And I saw a strong angel, proclaiming with a loud voice: Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?

3 And no man was able, neither in heaven, nor on earth, nor under the earth, to open the book, nor to look on it.

4 And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open the book, nor to see it.

5 And one of the ancients said to me: Weep not; behold the lion of the tribe of Juda, the root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.

6 And I saw: and behold in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the ancients, a Lamb standing as it were slain, having seven horns and seven eyes: which are the seven Spirits of God, sent forth into all the earth.

7 And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat on the throne.

8 And when he had opened the book, the four living creatures, and the four and twenty ancients fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints:

9 And they sung a new canticle, saying: Thou art worthy, O Lord, to take the book, and to open the seals thereof; because thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God, in thy blood, out of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation.

10 And hast made us to our God a kingdom and priests, and we shall reign on the earth.

Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 149: 1b-2, 3-4, 5-6a and 9b

1 Sing ye to the Lord a new canticle: let his praise be in the church of the saints.

2 Let Israel rejoice in him that made him: and let the children of Sion be joyful in their king.

3 Let them praise his name in choir: let them sing to him with the timbrel and the psaltery.

4 For the Lord is well pleased with his people: and he will exalt the meek unto salvation.

5 The saints shall rejoice in glory: they shall be joyful in their beds.

6 The high praise of God shall be in their mouth: and two-edged swords in their hands:

9 To execute upon them the judgment that is written: this glory is to all his saints. Alleluia.

Gospel: Luke 19: 41-44

41 And when he drew near, seeing the city, he wept over it, saying:

42 If thou also hadst known, and that in this thy day, the things that are to thy peace; but now they are hidden from thy eyes.

43 For the days shall come upon thee, and thy enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and straiten thee on every side,

44 And beat thee flat to the ground, and thy children who are in thee: and they shall not leave in thee a stone upon a stone: because thou hast not known the time of thy visitation.

वर्ष का तैंतीसवाँ सामान्य सप्ताह, गुरुवार

📒 पहला पाठ : प्रकाशना 5:1-10

1) इसके बाद मैंने देखा कि सिंहासन पर विराजमान के दाहिने हाथ में एक लपेटी हुई पुस्तक है, जिस पर दोनों ओर लिखा हुआ है और जिसे सात मोहरें लगा कर बन्द कर दिया गया है;

2) और मैंने एक शक्तिशाली स्वर्गदूत को देखा, जो ऊँचे स्वर से पुकार रहा था, "पुस्तक खोलने और उसकी मोहरें तोड़ने योग्य कौन है?"

3) किन्तु स्वर्ग में, पृथ्वी पर या पृथ्वी के नीचे कोई ऐसा व्यक्ति नहीं मिला, जो पुस्तक खोलने या पढ़ने में समर्थ हो।

4) मैं फूट-फूट कर रोने लगा, क्योंकि पुस्तक खोलने या पढ़ने योग्य कोई नहीं मिला।

5) इस पर वयोवृद्धों में एक ने मुझ से कहा, "मत रोओ! देखो, यूदा-वंशी सिंह, दाऊद की सन्तति ने विजय पायी है। वह पुस्तक और उसकी मोहरें खोलने योग्य है।"

6) तब मैंने सिंहासन के पास के चार प्राणियों और वयोवृद्धों के बीच खड़े एक मेमने को देखा। वह मानो वध किया हुआ था। उसके सात सींग और सात नेत्र थे- ये ईश्वर के सात आत्मा हैं, जिन्हें ईश्वर ने सारी पृथ्वी पर भेजा है।

7) जब मेमने ने पास आ कर सिंहासन पर बैठने वाले के दाहिने हाथ से पुस्तक ली।

8) जब मेमना पुस्तक ले चुका, तो चार प्राणी तथा चैबीस वयोवृद्ध मेमने के सामने गिर पड़े। प्रत्येक वयोवृद्ध के हाथ में वीणा थी और धूप से भरे स्वर्ण पात्र भी- ये सन्तों की प्रार्थनाएँ हैं।

9) ये यह कहते हुए एक नया गीत गा रहे थे, "तू पुस्तक ग्रहण कर उसकी मोहरें खोलने योग्य है, क्योंकि तेरा वध किया गया है। तूने अपना रक्त बहा कर ईश्वर के लिए प्रत्येक वंश, भाष्षा, प्रजाति और राष्ष्ट्र से मनुष्ष्यों को खरीद लिया।

10) तूने उन्हें हमारे ईश्वर की दृष्टि में याजकों का राजवंश बना दिया है और वे पृथ्वी पर राज्य करेंगे।"

📙 सुसमाचार : लूकस 19:41-44

41) निकट पहुँचने पर ईसा ने शहर को देखा। वे उस पर रो पड़े

42) और बोले, "हाय! कितना अच्छा होता यदि तू भी इस शुभ दिन यह समझ पाता कि किन बातों में तेरी शान्ति है! परन्तु अभी वे बातें तेरी आँखों से छिपी हुई हैं।

43) तुझ पर वे दिन आयेंगे, जब तेरे शत्रु तेरे चारों ओर मोरचा बाँध कर तुझे घेर लेंगे, तुझ पर चारों ओर से दबाव डालेंगे,

44) तुझे और तेरे अन्दर रहने वाली तेरी प्रजा को मटियामेट कर देंगे और तुझ में एक पत्थर पर दूसरा पत्थर पड़ा नहीं रहने देंगे; क्योंकि तूने अपने प्रभु के आगमन की शुभ घड़ी को नहीं पहचाना।"

📚 मनन-चिंतन

संत लूकस के सुसमाचार में जब येसु येरुसालेम की यात्रा पर थे, वहॉं पर जैतून पहाड़ पर रुककर येसु ने पूरा शहर को देखा और रो पड़े। वे रो पड़े क्योंकि येरुसालेम के लोंगों यह नहीं समझ पायें कि किस प्रकार उनको और उनके बच्चों को शांति प्राप्त हो सकती थी। वे रोते हैं क्योंकि अगर वे पहचान जाते कि वह कौन हैं, और उनकी शिक्षाओं पर चलते तो येसु उन्हें शांति की प्राप्त करते।

येसु यह पहचानकर कि वेे अपने ह्दय में अहिंसा को ही अपनायेंगे, येरुसालेम शहर के सर्वनाश की भविष्यवाणी करते है। और यह भविष्यवाणी सन् 70 में पूरी होती है जब रोमी साम्राज्य येरुसालेम शहर को तबाह कर देते हैं। ये सब उनका हिंसात्मक प्रतिक्रिया के कारण हुआ। परंतु उन्होने अगर शांति का मार्ग अपनाया होता तो वे अपना शहर एवं मंदिर को सर्वनाश होने से बचा सकते थे।

येसु येरुसालेम पर विलाप करते हैं क्योकि उन्होंने उनसे मिलने वाली शांति को छोड़ हिंसा का मार्ग को चुना। ठीक उसी प्रकार येसु हमारे लिए भी विलाप करते है जब हम भी उसी प्रकार का मार्ग चुनते हैं। प्रभु का रुदन हमें यह बताना चाहता हैं कि येसु कितना चाहते है कि हम उनके शांति में जीवन बिताये। प्रभु येसु किस प्रकार की शांति के विषय में बताना चाहते है? यह शांति का मतलब केवल युद्ध का न होना ही नहीं, परंतु हर और किसी प्रकार का हिंसा का न होना है। यह है शालोम, जोे सामाजिक, रिश्तेदारी तथा आध्यात्मिकता में पूर्ण भलाई है। यह शांति सब समझ से परे है- वह शांति जो संसार कभी नहीं दे सकता। यह प्रेम और न्याय का शांति हैं जहॉं पर सभी लोग बिना डर, बिना तिरस्कार और बिना किसी प्रकार के हिंसा के साथ जी सकते हैं। और यह शांति केवल शांति के राजकुमार येसु से ही मिल सकती है। आईये हम उस शांति को पाने के लिए प्रभु येसु से प्रार्थना करें। आमेन!

📚 REFLECTION

In Luke’s Gospel, as Jesus processes towards Jerusalem, he stops on the Mount of Olives and overlooks the city and he weeps. He weeps because they do not understand what would bring peace to them and their children. He weeps because, if they had just recognized who he was, and followed his teachings; he could have led them to peace.

Jesus recognizing that they will follow the violence in their hearts, Jesus prophesies about the destruction of the city. This prophecy fulfills in 70 AD when Roman Empire destroyed the Jerusalem city. But, if they had embraced the way of peace, they would have saved the city and the temple from destruction.

Jesus wept over Jerusalem because they refused to receive this peace from him, and they chose, instead, the way of violence. Similarly Jesus still weeps over us when we do the same. The weeping God tells us that how much Jesus longs for us to live in his peace. What is this way of peace that Jesus speaks about? It’s not just the absence of war. It’s the absence of any and all violence. It’s shalom – a word that speaks of well-being, of wholeness socially, relationally, and spiritually. It is the peace that passes understanding – a peace that is not given by the world. It is the peace of love and justice in which all people can live without fear, without rejection, and without any form of violence of all. And it is a peace that can only be received from Jesus, the Prince of Peace. Let’s pray to Jesus that we can receive that peace. Amen!
