First Reading: Daniel 3: 25, 34-43

25 Then Azarias standing up prayed in this manner, and opening his mouth in the midst of the fire, he said:

34 Deliver us not up for ever, we beseech thee, for thy name’s sake, and abolish not thy covenant.

35 And take not away thy mercy from us for the sake of Abraham thy beloved, and Isaac thy servant, and Israel thy holy one:

36 To whom thou hast spoken, promising that thou wouldst multiply their seed as the stars of heaven, and as the sand that is on the sea shore.

37 For we, O Lord, are diminished more than any nation, and are brought low in all the earth this day for our sins.

38 Neither is there at this time prince, or leader, or prophet, or holocaust, or sacrifice, or oblation, or incense, or place of firstfruits before thee,

39 That we may find thy mercy: nevertheless in a contrite heart and humble spirit let us be accepted.

40 As in holocausts of rams, and bullocks, and as in thousands of fat lambs: so let our sacrifice be made in thy sight this day, that it may please thee: for there is no confusion to them that trust in thee.

41 And now we follow thee with all our heart, and we fear thee, and seek thy face.

42 Put us not to confusion, but deal. with us according to thy meekness, and according to the multitude of thy mercies.

43 And deliver us according to thy wonderful works, and give glory to thy name, O Lord:

Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 25: 4-5ab, 6 and 7bc, 8-9

R. (6a) Remember, O Lord, thy bowels of compassion.

4 Let all them be confounded that act unjust things without cause. shew, O Lord, thy ways to me, and teach me thy paths.

Verse Before the Gospel: Joel 2: 12-13

12-13 Now therefore saith the Lord: Be converted to me with all your heart, for I am gracious and merciful.

Gospel: Matthew 18: 21-35

21 Then came Peter unto him and said: Lord, how often shall my brother offend against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?

22 Jesus saith to him: I say not to thee, till seven times; but till seventy times seven times.

23 Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened to a king, who would take an account of his servants.

24 And when he had begun to take the account, one was brought to him, that owed him ten thousand talents.

25 And as he had not wherewith to pay it, his lord commanded that he should be sold, and his wife and children and all that he had, and payment to be made.

26 But that servant falling down, besought him, saying: Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.

27 And the lord of that servant being moved with pity, let him go and forgave him the debt.

28 But when that servant was gone out, he found one of his fellow servants that owed him an hundred pence: and laying hold of him, throttled him, saying: Pay what thou owest.

29 And his fellow servant falling down, besought him, saying: Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.

30 And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he paid the debt.

31 Now his fellow servants seeing what was done, were very much grieved, and they came and told their lord all that was done.

32 Then his lord called him; and said to him: Thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all the debt, because thou besoughtest me:

33 Shouldst not thou then have had compassion also on thy fellow servant, even as I had compassion on thee?

34 And his lord being angry, delivered him to the torturers until he paid all the debt.

35 So also shall my heavenly Father do to you, if you forgive not every one his brother from your hearts.

चालीसे का तीसरा सप्ताह

पहला पाठ : दानिएल का ग्रन्थ 3:25,34-43

25) अजर्या खड़ा हो कर प्रार्थना करने लगा और उसने आग की लपटों के बीच यह कहना आरंभ किया:

34) तू अपने नाम का ध्यान रख कर हमें सदा के लिए न त्याग; हमारे लिए अपना विधान रद्द न कर।

35) अपने मित्र इब्राहीम, अपने सेवक इसहाक और अपने भक्त इस्राएल का स्मरण कर। अपनी कृपादृष्टि हम पर से न हटा।

36) तूने उन से यह प्रतिज्ञा की थी कि आकाश के तारों की तरह और समुद्रतट के रेतकणों की तरह तुम्हारे वंशजों को असंख्या बना दूँगा।

37) प्रभु! संख्या की दृष्टि से, हम सब राष्ट्रों से छोटे हो गये हैं

38) और हमारे पापों के कारण पृथ्वी भर में हमारा अपमान हो रहा है। अब तो न राजा है, न नबी, न नेता, न होम, न यज्ञ, न बलि, न धूपदान।

39) कोई स्थान ऐसा नहीं, जहां तेरी कृपादृष्टि प्राप्त करने के लिए हम तुझे प्रथम फल अर्पित करें।

40) हमारा पश्चात्तापी हृदय और हमारा विनम्र मन मेढ़ों, साँडो और हज़ारों पुष्ट भेड़ो की बलि-जैसे तुझे ग्राह्य हों। आज तेरे लिए यही हमारा बलिदान हो। ऐसा कर कि हम पूर्ण रूप से तेरे मार्ग पर चलें, क्योंकि तुझ पर भरोसा रखने वाले कभी निराश नहीं होते।

41) अब हम यह दृढ संकल्प करते हैं कि हम तेरे मार्ग पर चलेंगे, तुझ पर श्रद्धा रखेंगे, और तेरे दर्शनों की कामना करते रहेंगे।

42) हमें निराश न होने दे, बल्कि हम पर अपनी सहनशीलता तथा महती दया प्रदर्शित कर।

43) प्रभु! अपने अपूर्व कार्यों द्वारा हमारी रक्षा कर और अपने नाम को महिमान्वित कर।

सुसमाचार : सन्त मत्ती 18:21-35

21) तब पेत्रुस ने पास आ कर ईसा से कहा, ’’प्रभु! यदि मेरा भाई मेरे विरुद्ध अपराध करता जाये, तो मैं कितनी बार उसे क्षमा करूँ? सात बार तक?’’

22) ईसा ने उत्तर दिया, ’’मैं तुम से नहीं कहता ’सात बार तक’, बल्कि सत्तर गुना सात बार तक।

23) ’’यही कारण है कि स्वर्ग का राज्य उस राजा के सदृश है, जो अपने सेवकों से लेखा लेना चाहता था।

24) जब वह लेखा लेने लगा, तो उसका लाखों रुपये का एक कर्ज़दार उसके सामने पेश किया गया।

25) अदा करने के लिए उसके पास कुछ भी नहीं था, इसलिए स्वामी ने आदेश दिया कि उसे, उसकी पत्नी, उसके बच्चों और उसकी सारी जायदाद को बेच दिया जाये और ऋण अदा कर लिया जाये।

26) इस पर वह सेवक उसके पैरों पर गिर कर यह कहते हुए अनुनय-विनय करता रहा, ’मुझे समय दीजिए, और मैं आपको सब चुका दूँगा।

27) उस सेवक के स्वामी को तरस हो आया और उसने उसे जाने दिया और उसका कजऱ् माफ़ कर दिया।

28) जब वह सेवक बाहर निकला, तो वह अपने एक सह- सेवक से मिला, जो उसका लगभग एक सौ दीनार का कर्ज़दार था। उसने उसे पकड़ लिया और उसका गला घांेट कर कहा, ’अपना कर्ज़ चुका दो’।

29) सह-सेवक उसके पैरों पर गिर पड़ा और यह कहते हुए अनुनय-विनय करता रहा, ’मुझे समय दीजिए और मैं आपको चुका दूँगा’।

30) परन्तु उसने नहीं माना और जा कर उसे तब तक के लिये बन्दीगृह में डलवा दिया, जब तक वह अपना कर्ज़ न चुका दे!

31) यह सब देख कर उसके दूसरे सह-सेवक बहुत दुःखी हो गये और उन्होंने स्वामी के पास जा कर सारी बातें बता दीं।

32) तब स्वामी ने उस सेवक को बुला कर कहा, ’दृष्ट सेवक! तुम्हारी अनुनय-विनय पर मैंने तुम्हारा वह सारा कजऱ् माफ़ कर दिया था,

33) तो जिस प्रकार मैंने तुम पर दया की थी, क्या उसी प्रकार तुम्हें भी अपने सह-सेवक पर दया नहीं करनी चाहिए थी?’

34) और स्वामी ने क्रुद्ध होकर उसे तब तक के लिए जल्लादों के हवाले कर दिया, जब तक वह कौड़ी-कौड़ी न चुका दे।

35) यदि तुम में हर एक अपने भाई को पूरे हृदय से क्षमा नहीं करेगा, तो मेरा स्वर्गिक पिता भी तुम्हारे साथ ऐसा ही करेगा।’’

📚 मनन-चिंतन

इस दुनिया में गलती न करने वाला कोई नहीं होते है। सब कोई गलती करते है क्योंकि कोई भी पूर्ण नहीं है। इसलिए एह दूसरे की गलती को क्षमा करना बहुत आवश्य है। ईश्वर भी यही चाहते है कि हम सब एक दूसरे को क्षमा करते हुए जीवन बिताये। ईश्वर हमारे पापों को निरन्तर क्षमा करते रहते है। हमारे पापों को याद भी नहीं रखते है। वचन कहता है - प््राभु यदि तू हमारे अपराधों को याद रखेगा, तो कौन टिका रहेगा? तू पापों को क्षमा करता है, इसलिए लोग तुझ पर श्रद्ध रखते हैं। (स्तोत्र 130:3-4); पुर्व पश्चिम से जितना दूर है, प्रभु हमारे पापों को हम से उतना ही दूर कर देता है । (स्तोत्र 103:12); वह फिर हम पर दया करेगा, हमारे अपराध पैरों तले रौंद देगा और हमारे सभी पाप गहरे समुद्र में फेंकेगा। (मिकाह 7:19); क्योंकि ईश्वर प्रेम है (1 योहन 4:8); इसलिए बुराई का लेखा नहीं रखता है। (1 कुरिन्थियों 13:5)

ईश्वर चाहते है कि हम भी उनके समान एक दूसरे को क्षमा करें। संत पौलूस कहते है- आप एक दूसरे को सहन करें और यदि किसी को किसी से कोई शिकायत हो, तो एक दूसरे को क्षमा करें। प्रभु ने आप लोगों को क्षमा कर दिया। आप लोग भी ऐसा ही करें। (कलोसियों 3:13); एक दूसरे के प्रति दयालु तथा सह्रदय बने। जिस तरह ईश्वर ने मसीह के कारण आप लोगों को क्षमा कर दिया, उसी तरह आप भी एक दूसरे को क्षमा करें। (एफेकियों 4:32)

ईश्वर हमारे असंख्य पापों को क्षमा करते है। इसलिए दृष्टान्त में येसु कहते है कि वह सेवक लाखों रूपये का एक कर्ज़दार था। अंग्रजी बईबल में कहते है दस हज़ार टालेन्टस। एक टालेन्ट कमाने केलिए एक मज़दूर को 15 साल काम करना था। इसका मतलब यह है कि कर्ज अदा करना असंभव है। जब यह सेवक ने कहा कि मुझे समय दीजिए और मैं आप को सब चुका दॅूगा। लेकिन स्वामी को मालूम था कि यह असंभव है। इसलिए स्वामी ने उसका कर्ज माफ़ कर दिया। जब वह सेवक बाहर निकला, तो चह अपने एक सहसेवक से मिला, जो उसका लगभग एक सौ दीनार का कर्ज़दार था। अंग्रजी बईबल में कहते है 100 दिनारी। एक दिनारी कमाने केलिए एक मज़दूर को 1 दिन काम करना था। लेकिने ये सेवक ने उसका कर्ज माफ नहीं किया, बल्कि उसने उस सहसेवक को तब तक केलिए बन्दीग्रह में डलवा दिया, जब तक वह अपना कर्ज़ न चुका दे। स्वामी यह देख कर क्रोद्धित हो गये और स्वामी ने उसे तब तक केलिए जल्लादों के हवाले कर दिया, जब तक वह कौड़ी-कौड़ी न चुका दे।

और येसु यह दृष्टान्त ऐसा समाप्त करते है कि यदि तुम में हर एक अपने भाई को पूरे ह्रदय से क्षमा नहीं करेगा, तो मेरा स्वर्गिक पिता भी तुम्हारे साथ ऐसा ही करेगा। तो आईए आज से हम एक दूसरे का पाप क्षमा करते हुए जीवन बिताये। इस केलिए ईश्वर से कृपा मॉगे। याद रखना कि रोज हम प्रार्थना करते है हमारे अपराधों को क्षमा कर जैसे हम भी अपने अपराधियों को क्षमा करते है। आईए ईश्वर से एक दूसरे को क्षमा प्रदान करने केलिए कृपा मॉगे।

📚 REFLECTION

In this world there is no one who does not commit mistake. Everyone makes mistake, because no one is perfect. Therefore God wants that we live our life by forgiving each other’s mistakes. God keeps forgiving our mistakes always. God does not remember our sins. The word of God says Ps 130:3-4 if you O Lord should mark iniquities, Lord, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with you, so that you may be revered. Ps 103:12 as far as the east is from the west, so far me removes our transgressions from us. Micah 7:19 he will again have compassion upon us; he will tread our iniquities under foot. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea. Because 1Jn 4:8 God is love, 1Cor 13:5 love does not keep an account of wrong doings.

God wants that we should forgive each other as he forgives us. Col 3:13Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgives you, so you also must forgive. Eph 4:32be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you. God forgives our innumerable sins. Therefore we need to forgive the sins of others. In order to make us understand Jesus says to us this parable of today’s gospel.

A man owing ten thousand talents was brought before the king. Remember a talent was worth more than fifteen years’ wages of a laborer. And he was asked to pay off. We know that it is an impossible task. The man says to the king have patience with me , and I will pay you everything. And out of pity the king forgives all the debts. When that man came out he came upon one of his fellow slaves who owed him a hundred denarii. The denarius was the usual day’s wage for a laborer. Which mean this could have been paid off if time was given. But the man threw the fellow slave into prison until he would pay the debt. When the king came to know about it he in anger handed the man over to be tortured until he would pay his entire debt.

And Jesus concludes the parable saying so Mt 18:35 so my heavenly father will also do to every one of you, if you do not forgive your brother or sister from your heart. Remember we daily pray that forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Come lets as the Lord the grace to forgive one another.
