First Reading: Genesis 3: 1-8

1 Now the serpent was more subtle than any of the beasts of the earth which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman: Why hath God commanded you, that you should not eat of every tree of paradise?

2 And the woman answered him, saying: Of the fruit of the trees that are in paradise we do eat:

3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of paradise, God hath commanded us that we should not eat; and that we should not touch it, lest perhaps we die.

4 And the serpent said to the woman: No, you shall not die the death.

5 For God doth know that in what day soever you shall eat thereof, your eyes shall be opened: and you shall be as Gods, knowing good and evil.

6 And the woman saw that the tree was good to eat, and fair to the eyes, and delightful to behold: and she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave to her husband who did eat.

7 And the eyes of them both were opened: and when they perceived themselves to be naked, they sewed together fig leaves, and made themselves aprons.

8 And when they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in paradise at the afternoon air, Adam and his wife hid themselves from the face of the Lord God, amidst the trees of paradise.

Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 32: 1-2, 5, 6, 7

1 To David himself, understanding. Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.

2 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord hath not imputed sin, and in whose spirit there is no guile.

5 I have acknowledged my sin to thee, and my injustice I have not concealed. I said I will confess against myself my injustice to the Lord: and thou hast forgiven the wickedness of my sin.

6 For this shall every one that is holy pray to thee in a seasonable time. And yet in a flood of many waters, they shall not come nigh unto him.

7 Thou art my refuge from the trouble which hath encompassed me: my joy, deliver me from them that surround me.

Gospel: Mark 7: 31-37

31 And again going out of the coasts of Tyre, he came by Sidon to the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the coasts of Decapolis.

32 And they bring to him one deaf and dumb; and they besought him that he would lay his hand upon him.

33 And taking him from the multitude apart, he put his fingers into his ears, and spitting, he touched his tongue:

34 And looking up to heaven, he groaned, and said to him: Ephpheta, which is, Be thou opened.

35 And immediately his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spoke right.

36 And he charged them that they should tell no man. But the more he charged them, so much the more a great deal did they publish it.

37 And so much the more did they wonder, saying: He hath done all things well; he hath made both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.

पहला पाठ : उत्पत्ति ग्रन्थ 3:1-8

1) ईश्वर ने जिन जंगली जीव-जन्तुओं को बनाया था, उन में साँप सब से धूर्त था। उसने स्त्री से कहा, ''क्या ईश्वर ने सचमुच तुम को मना किया कि वाटिका के किसी वृक्ष का फल मत खाना''?

2) स्त्री ने साँप को उत्तर दिया, ''हम वाटिका के वृक्षों के फल खा सकते हैं।

3) परंतु वाटिका के बीचोंबीच वाले वृक्ष के फलों के विषय में ईश्वर ने यह कहा - तुम उन्हें नहीं खाना। उनका स्पर्श तक नहीं करना, नहीं तो मर जाओगे।''

4) साँप ने स्त्री से कहा, ''नहीं! तुम नहीं मरोगी।''

5) ईश्वर जानता है कि यदि तुम उस वृक्ष का फल खाओगे, तो तुम्हारी आँखें खुल जायेंगी। तुम्हें भले-बुरे का ज्ञान हो जायेगा और इस प्रकार तुम ईश्वर के सदृश बन जाओगे।

6) अब स्त्री को लगा कि उस वृक्ष का फल स्वादिष्ट है, वह देखने में सुन्दर है और जब उसके द्वारा ज्ञान प्राप्त होता है, तो वह कितना लुभावना है! इसलिए उसने फल तोड़ कर खाया। उसने पास खड़े अपने पति को भी उस में से दिया और उसने भी खा लिया।

7) तब दोनों की आँखें खुल गयीं और उन्हें पता चला कि वे नंगे हैं। इसलिए उन्होंने अंजीर के पत्ते जोड़-जोड़ कर अपने लिए लंगोट बना लिये।

8) जब दिन की हवा चलने लगी, तो पुरुष और उसकी पत्नी को वाटिका में टहलते हुए प्रभु-ईश्वर की आवाज सुनाई पड़ी और वे वाटिका के वृक्षों में प्रभु-ईश्वर से छिप गये।

सुसमाचार : सन्त मारकुस का सुसमाचार 7:31-37

31) ईसा तीरूस प्रान्त से चले गये। वे सिदोन हो कर और देकापोलिस प्रान्त पार कर गलीलिया के समुद्र के पास पहुँचे।

32) लोग एक बहरे-गूँगे को उनके पास ले आये और उन्होंने यह प्रार्थना की कि आप उस पर हाथ रख दीजिए।

33) ईसा ने उसे भीड़ से अलग एकान्त में ले जा कर उसके कानों में अपनी उँगलियाँ डाल दीं और उसकी जीभ पर अपना थूक लगाया।

34) फिर आकाश की ओर आँखें उठा कर उन्होंने आह भरी और उससे कहा, ’’एफ़ेता’’, अर्थात् ’’खुल जा’’।

35) उसी क्षण उसके कान खुल गये और उसकी जीभ का बन्धन छूट गया, जिससे वह अच्छी तरह बोला।

36) ईसा ने लोगों को आदेश दिया कि वे यह बात किसी से नहीं कहें, परन्तु वे जितना ही मना करते थे, लोग उतना ही इसका प्रचार करते थे।

37) लोगों के आश्चर्य की सीमा न रही। वे कहते थे, ’’वे जो कुछ करते हैं, अच्छा ही करते है। वे बहरों को कान और गूँगों को वाणी देते हैं।’’

📚 मनन-चिंतन

सुसमाचार अक्सर लोगों को किसी को यीशु के पास लाने का वर्णन करते हैं। विशेष रूप से, लोग उन लोगों को लाते हैं जो स्वयं यीशु के लिए अपना रास्ता नहीं बना सकते हैं। हमें ऐसे लोगों की तस्वीर दी गई है जो एक-दूसरे की तलाश कर रहे हैं, विशेषकर उन लोगों के लिए जिनके पास किसी प्रकार की बाधा या विकलांगता है। हमारे पास आज के सुसमाचार में इसका एक अच्छा उदाहरण है। लोग एक बहरे-गूँगे व्यक्ति को येसु के पास लाये। और उन्होंने येसु से उस आदमी पर हाथ रखने की विनती की। वे उसे येसु के पास ले जाते हैं और फिर वे येसु के साथ उसकी ओर से हस्तक्षेप करते हैं क्योंकि वह खुद के लिए नहीं बोल सकता है। जिन लोगों ने आदमी को येसु के पास लाया, उन्होंने हमारे स्वयं के बपतिस्मात्मक बुलाहट के एक तत्व को चित्रित किया।

हम सभी को एक-दूसरे को येसु के पास लाने के लिए बुलाया गया है। सुसमाचार को पढ़ने वाले हम सब लोग, एक-दूसरे के लिए प्रार्थना करने के लिए, विशेष रूप से उन लोगों के लिए, जो किसी भी कारण से, खुद के लिए प्रार्थना नहीं कर सकते, प्रभु से मध्यस्थता करने के लिए बुलाये गए है । अन्य लोगों के द्वारा येसु हमें अपने पास खींचता है। अनंत जीवन देने के कार्य में येसु को हमारी ज़रूरत है। हम में से प्रत्येक ईश्वर के राज्य में एक महत्वपूर्ण मजदूर है जो उन लोगों को येसु के पास ले जाते हों जो किन्हीं कारणवश येसु के पास नहीं आ पा रहे हों। प्रभु हम में से हर एक पर निर्भर है। क्या मैं येसु के कार्यों में अपना पूर्ण सहयोग दे रहा / रही हूँ ?

📚 REFLECTION

The gospels often describe people bringing someone to Jesus. In particular, people bring those who cannot make their way to Jesus themselves. We are given a picture of people looking out for each other, especially for those who have some form of impediment or disability. We have a good example of that in today’s gospel reading. People brought to Jesus a deaf man who had an impediment in his speech and they begged Jesus to lay his hands on the man. They lead him to Jesus and then they intercede with Jesus on his behalf because he cannot speak for himself. The people who brought the man to Jesus portray one element of our own baptismal calling. We are all called to bring each other to Jesus, and, like the people in the gospel reading, to intercede for each other with the Lord, to pray for each other, especially for those who, for whatever reason, cannot pray for themselves. The Lord draws us to himself in and through each other. He needs us if he is to do his life-giving work, just as he needed people to bring the deaf man who couldn’t speak to him. Each of us is an important labourer in the Lord’s field. The Lord is dependent on every one of us.
