First Reading: Micah 7: 14-15, 18-20

14 Feed thy people with thy rod, the flock of thy inheritance, them that dwell alone in the forest, in the midst of Carmel: they shall feed in Basan and Galaad according to the days of old.

15 According to the days of thy coming out of the land of Egypt I will shew him wonders.

18 Who is a God like to thee, who takest away iniquity, and passest by the sin of the remnant of thy inheritance? he will send his fury in no more, because he delighteth in mercy.

19 He will turn again, and have mercy on us: he will put away our iniquities: and he will cast all our sins into the bottom of the sea.

20 Thou wilt perform the truth of Jacob, the mercy to Abraham: which thou hast sworn to our fathers from the days of old.

18 I will arise, and will go to my father, and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee.

Gospel: Luke 15: 1-3, 11-32

1 Now the publicans and sinners drew near unto him to hear him.

2 And the Pharisees and the scribes murmured, saying: This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.

3 And he spoke to them this parable, saying:

11 And he said: A certain man had two sons:

12 And the younger of them said to his father: Father, give me the portion of substance that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his substance.

13 And not many days after, the younger son, gathering all together, went abroad into a far country: and there wasted his substance, living riotously.

14 And after he had spent all, there came a mighty famine in that country; and he began to be in want.

15 And he went and cleaved to one of the citizens of that country. And he sent him into his farm to feed swine.

16 And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks the swine did eat; and no man gave unto him.

17 And returning to himself, he said: How many hired servants in my father’s house abound with bread, and I here perish with hunger?

18 I will arise, and will go to my father, and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee:

19 I am not worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.

20 And rising up he came to his father. And when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and was moved with compassion, and running to him fell upon his neck, and kissed him.

21 And the son said to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, I am not now worthy to be called thy son.

22 And the father said to his servants: Bring forth quickly the first robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:

23 And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it, and let us eat and make merry:

24 Because this my son was dead, and is come to life again: was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

25 Now his elder son was in the field, and when he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard music and dancing:

26 And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant.

27 And he said to him: Thy brother is come, and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe.

28 And he was angry, and would not go in. His father therefore coming out began to entreat him.

29 And he answering, said to his father: Behold, for so many years do I serve thee, and I have never transgressed thy commandment, and yet thou hast never given me a kid to make merry with my friends:

30 But as soon as this thy son is come, who hath devoured his substance with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.

31 But he said to him: Son, thou art always with me, and all I have is thine.

32 But it was fit that we should make merry and be glad, for this thy brother was dead and is come to life again; he was lost, and is found.

चालीसे का दूसरा सप्ताह

पहला पाठ : मीकाह 7:14-15,18-20

14) तू अपना डण्डा ले कर अपनी प्रजा, अपनी विरासत की भेडें चराने की कृपा कर। वे जंगल और बंजर भूमि में अकेली ही पडी हुई है। प्राचीन काल की तरह उन्हें बाशान तथा गिलआद में चरने दे।

15) जिन दिनों तू हमें मिस्र से निकाल लाया, उन्हीं दिनों की तरह हमें चमत्कार दिखा।

18) तेरे सदृश कौन ऐसा ईश्वर है, जो अपराध हरता और अपनी प्रजा का पाप अनदेखा करता हैं; जो अपना क्रोध बनाये नहीं रखता, बल्कि दया करना चाहता हैं?

19) वह फिर हम पर दया करेगा, हमारे अपराध पैरों तले रौंद देगा और हमारे सभी पाप गहरे समुद्र में फेंकेगा।

20) तू याकूब के लिए अपनी सत्यप्रतिज्ञता और इब्राहीम के लिए अपनी दयालुता प्रदर्शित करेगा, जैसी कि तूने शपथ खा कर हमारे पूर्वजों से प्रतिज्ञा की है।

सुसमाचार : सन्त लूकस का सुसमाचार 15:1-3,11-32

1) ईसा का उपदेश सुनने के लिए नाकेदार और पापी उनके पास आया करते थे।

2 फ़रीसी और शास्त्री यह कहते हुए भुनभुनाते थे, "यह मनुष्य पापियों का स्वागत करता है और उनके साथ खाता-पीता है"।

3) इस पर ईसा ने उन को यह दृष्टान्त सुनाया,

11) ईसा ने कहा, "किसी मनुष्य के दो पुत्र थे।

12) छोटे ने अपने पिता से कहा, ’पिता जी! सम्पत्ति का जो भाग मेरा है, मुझे दे दीजिए’, और पिता ने उन में अपनी सम्पत्ति बाँट दी।

13 थोड़े ही दिनों बाद छोटा बेटा अपनी समस्त सम्पत्ति एकत्र कर किसी दूर देश चला गया और वहाँ उसने भोग-विलास में अपनी सम्पत्ति उड़ा दी।

14) जब वह सब कुछ ख़र्च कर चुका, तो उस देश में भारी अकाल पड़ा और उसकी हालत तंग हो गयी।

15) इसलिए वह उस देश के एक निवासी का नौकर बन गया, जिसने उसे अपने खेतों में सूअर चराने भेजा।

16) जो फलियाँ सूअर खाते थे, उन्हीं से वह अपना पेट भरना चाहता था, लेकिन कोई उसे उन में से कुछ नहीं देता था।

17) तब वह होश में आया और यह सोचता रहा-मेरे पिता के घर कितने ही मज़दूरों को ज़रूरत से ज़्यादा रोटी मिलती है और मैं यहाँ भूखों मर रहा हूँ।

18) मैं उठ कर अपने पिता के पास जाऊँगा और उन से कहूँगा, ’पिता जी! मैंने स्वर्ग के विरुद्ध और आपके प्रति पाप किया है।

19) मैं आपका पुत्र कहलाने योग्य नहीं रहा। मुझे अपने मज़दूरों में से एक जैसा रख लीजिए।’

20) तब वह उठ कर अपने पिता के घर की ओर चल पड़ा। वह दूर ही था कि उसके पिता ने उसे देख लिया और दया से द्रवित हो उठा। उसने दौड़ कर उसे गले लगा लिया और उसका चुम्बन किया।

21) तब पुत्र ने उस से कहा, ’पिता जी! मैने स्वर्ग के विरुद्ध और आपके प्रति पाप किया है। मैं आपका पुत्र कहलाने योग्य नहीं रहा।’

22) परन्तु पिता ने अपने नौकरों से कहा, ’जल्दी अच्छे-से-अच्छे कपड़े ला कर इस को पहनाओ और इसकी उँगली में अँगूठी और इसके पैरों में जूते पहना दो।

23) मोटा बछड़ा भी ला कर मारो। हम खायें और आनन्द मनायें;

24) क्योंकि मेरा यह बेटा मर गया था और फिर जी गया है, यह खो गया था और फिर मिल गया है।’ और वे आनन्द मनाने लगे।

25) "उसका जेठा लड़का खेत में था। जब वह लौट कर घर के निकट पहुँचा, तो उसे गाने-बजाने और नाचने की आवाज़ सुनाई पड़ी।

26) उसने एक नौकर को बुलाया और इसके विषय में पूछा।

27) इसने कहा, ’आपका भाई आया है और आपके पिता ने मोटा बछड़ा मारा है, क्योंकि उन्होंने उसे भला-चंगा वापस पाया है’।

28) इस पर वह क्रुद्ध हो गया और उसने घर के अन्दर जाना नहीं चाहा। तब उसका पिता उसे मनाने के लिए बाहर आया।

29) परन्तु उसने अपने पिता को उत्तर दिया, ’देखिए, मैं इतने बरसों से आपकी सेवा करता आया हूँ। मैंने कभी आपकी आज्ञा का उल्लंघन नहीं किया। फिर भी आपने कभी मुझे बकरी का बच्चा तक नहीं दिया, ताकि मैं अपने मित्रों के साथ आनन्द मनाऊँ।

30) पर जैसे ही आपका यह बेटा आया, जिसने वेश्याओं के पीछे आपकी सम्पत्ति उड़ा दी है, आपने उसके लिए मोटा बछड़ा मार डाला है।’

31) इस पर पिता ने उस से कहा, ’बेटा, तुम तो सदा मेरे साथ रहते हो और जो कुछ मेरा है, वह तुम्हारा है।

32) परन्तु आनन्द मनाना और उल्लसित होना उचित ही था; क्योंकि तुम्हारा यह भाई मर गया था और फिर जी गया है, यह खो गया था और मिल गया है’।"

📚 मनन-चिंतन

प्रभु येसु के द्वारा बताया गया दृष्टान्तों में सबसे सुन्दर दृष्टान्त है खोया हुआ लड़के का दृष्टान्त। इस दृष्टान्त द्वारा येसु हमें पिता ईश्वर के गहरा प्यार के बारे में बताते है। यहॉ हम एक एैसा पिताजी को देखते है जो घर के बाहर आकर दोनों बेटों से घर के अन्तर आने केलिए याचना करते है।

खोया हुआ लड़का एवं जेठा लडके के समान हम भी ईश्वर के सान्निध्य में रहते हुए भी उनके प्यार को तुच्छ समझते है और उनके प्यार की ओर अन्धा हो जाते है और बाहर की दुनिया हमें ज्यादा आकार्षित करते है। यूदस इसकारियोती भी ऐसे था कि वह येसु के सान्धिय में रहने के बावजूद भी येसु के प्यार के प्रति अन्धा हो कर, पैसे के पीछे पड जाते है और अपना जीवन बर्बाद करते है।

खोया हुआ लड़के का जन्म इस घर में हुआ था और उस समय सबकुछ ठीक चल रहा था। लेकिन जब वह युअव बना तब उनके पिता के सान्निध्य में रहना, पिता के नियमों के अनुसार जीवन बिताना कठिन लगने लगा। और वह घर के बाहर देखा तो बाहर का जीवन उन्हें अच्छा लगने लगा। पिता के सान्निध्य में वह अपने इसाफ से जी नहीे पा रहा था और अपनी इच्छा की अनुसार धन-दौलत इस्तेमाल नहीं कर पा रहा था। इसलिए छोटा लडका ने सोचा कि पिता से दूर कहीं बाहर जा कर रहना बहुत अच्छा होगा। इस कारण से उसने घर छोडने का निर्णय लिया।

कहानी में हम पढते है कि पिता से दूर जाने के बाद उसका जीवन बर्बाद हो जाता है, उनका सारा गणीत गलत निकलता है। अपना धन-दौतल अपने इसाफ से खर्च करने के कारण, अपने पापमय जीवन केलिए उड़ाने के कारण वह आन्तरीक रुप में और बाहरीय रुप में कंगाल हो जाते है। तब वह होश में आता है, अपनी गलती समझ में आता है। तब उनको यह मालूम हो जाता है कि पिताजी के साथ रहना कितना सुन्दर है, देखो मेरे पिता के घर कितने ही मज़्ादूरों को जरुरत से ज़्यादा रोटी मिलती है और मैं यहॉ भुखों मर रहा हॅू।

खोया हुआ लड़के को पिता से दूर जाना बहुत आसान था क्योंकि उस समय उनकी सेहत अच्छी थी और उनके पास धन-दौलत थी। लेकिन ये लड़के केलिए वापस आना काफी कठिन था क्योंकि खना न मिलने के कारण उनकी सेहत अच्छी नहीं थी और उनके पास गंधा कपड़े के अलावा कुछ भी नहीं था। वह एक भिखारी के समान बन गया था। कहानी में कहते है कि प्यारमय पिता ने अपने बेटे को दूर से पहचान लिया और दया से द्रवित हो उठा। पिताजी ने दौड कर उसे गले लगा लिया और उसका चुम्बन किया और अपने नौकरों से कहते है कि जल्दी अच्छे से अच्छो कपडे ला कर दस को पहनाओ और इसकी उॅगली में अॅगुठी और इसके पैरों में जूते पहना दो। मोटा बछडा भी ला कर मारो। हम खायें और आनन्द मनायें; क्योंकि मेरा यह बेटा मर गया था और फिर जी गया है यह खो गया था और फिर मिल गया है।

यही ईश्वर का स्वभाव है। ईश्वर प्यार है इसलिए ईश्वर से हमेशा प्यार ही निकलता है। हम यह समझे कि हमारे इस जीवन यात्रा में ईश्वर के साथ रहना हमारे लिए सबसे उत्तम है और ईश्वर के नियमों के अनुसार हमारे पास जो कुछ भी है इसका इसतेमाल करना हमारे जीवन केलिए सर्वोत्तम है।

📚 REFLECTION

Of all the parables of Jesus the most popular and beautiful parable is the parable of the prodigal son. Thorugh this parable Jesus wants to tell the depth of God the Father’s love for each of us. In this parable we see a father who humbles himself and comes of out the home to invite both the sons into the house.

The prodigal son and the elder son were unable to experience the depth of father’s love even though they were in the presence of him. Just like Judas Iscariot who was in the presence of God but his heart was set on wealth. Thus he destroys his life.

The prodigal son was born in the same family under the care of his father. At that time he loved to be at home. But when he grew became a youth then he began to feel suffocated because there are rules and regulations in the house. He and house property are under the control of his father. Everything goes according to the will of the Father. When he looked outside the house everything seems to be beautiful. So he wanted to go so that he could live according to his whims and fancies.

The Father allows him out of love. And we come to know that all the calculations of the prodigal son goes wrong and he becomes poor both externally and internally. Then he comes to his senses and says to himself that how many of the servants at home have enough to eat, but I am starving here. Then he decides to go back to the Father.

When the son comes back the father recognizes him from very far. Remember when the son went away he was healthy but he comes back as a beggar fully worn out. Even then the father recognizes him, even from far. And the story tells us that the father runs towards the son and he puts his arms around his son and kisses him and reinstates him to sonship by giving him best of everything. Because this son was lost and now is found, he was dead now he is alive.

God is love. Therefore God can only love. Only love can come out of God. Therefore my dear brothers and sisters its always safe for us to remain in the love of God. When we remain in the love of God we are safe and what we have also will be safe. It is always safe for us to arrange our life according to the commandments of God. Jesus says if you love me you will obey my commandments.
