First Reading: Wisdom 2: 12, 17-20

12 Let us therefore lie in wait for the just, because he is not for our turn, and he is contrary to our doings, and upbraideth us with transgressions of the law, and divulgeth against us the sins of our way of life.

17 Let us see then if his words be true, and let us prove what shall happen to him, and we shall know what his end shall be.

18 For if he be the true son of God, he will defend him, and will deliver him from the hands of his enemies.

19 Let us examine him by outrages and tortures, that we may know his meekness and try his patience.

20 Let us condemn him to a most shameful death: for there shall be respect had unto him by his words.

Second Reading: James 3: 16 – 4: 3

16 For where envying and contention is, there is inconstancy, and every evil work.

17 But the wisdom, that is from above, first indeed is chaste, then peaceable, modest, easy to be persuaded, consenting to the good, full of mercy and good fruits, without judging, without dissimulation.

18 And the fruit of justice is sown in peace, to them that make peace.

4:1 From whence are wars and contentions among you? Are they not hence, from your concupiscences, which war in your members?

2 You covet, and have not: you kill, and envy, and can not obtain. You contend and war, and you have not, because you ask not.

3 You ask, and receive not; because you ask amiss: that you may consume it on your concupiscences.

Gospel: Mark 9: 30-37

30 And departing from thence, they passed through Galilee, and he would not that any man should know it.

31 And he taught his disciples, and said to them: The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise again the third day.

32 But they understood not the word, and they were afraid to ask him.

33 And they came to Capharnaum. And when they were in the house, he asked them: What did you treat of in the way?

34 But they held their peace, for in the way they had disputed among themselves, which of them should be the greatest.

35 And sitting down, he called the twelve, and saith to them: If any man desire to be first, he shall be the last of all, and the minister of all.

36 And taking a child, he set him in the midst of them. Whom when he had embraced, he saith to them:

37 Whosoever shall receive one such child as this in my name, receiveth me. And whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.

वर्ष का पच्चीसवाँ सामान्य इतवार

पहला पाठ : प्रज्ञा 2:12अ, 17-20

12) "हम धर्मात्मा के लिए फन्दा लगायें, क्योंकि वह हमें परेशान करता और हमारे आचरण का विरोध करता है।

17) हम यह देखें कि उसका दावा कहाँ तक सच है; हम यह पता लगायें कि अन्त में उसका क्या होगा।

18) यदि वह धर्मात्मा ईश्वर का पुत्र है, तो ईश्वर उसकी सहायता करेगा और उसे उसके विरोधियों के हाथ से छुड़ायेगा।

19) हम अपमान और अत्याचार से उसकी परीक्षा ले, जिससे हम उसकी विनम्रता जानें और उसका धैर्य परख सकें।

20) हम उसे घिनौनी मृत्यु का दण्ड दिलायें, क्योंकि उसका दावा है, कि ईश्वर उसकी रक्षा करेगा।

दूसरा पाठ : याकूब 3:16-4:3

3:16) जहाँ ईर्ष्या और स्वार्थ है, वहाँ अशान्ति और हर तरह की बुराई पायी जाती है।

17) किन्तु उपर से आयी हुई प्रज्ञा मुख्यतः पवित्र है और वह शान्तिप्रिय, सहनशील, विनम्र, करुणामय, परोपकारी, पक्षपातहीन और निष्कपट भी है।

18) धार्मिकता शान्ति के क्षेत्र में बोयी जाती है और शान्ति स्थापित करने वाले उसका फल प्राप्त करते हैं।

4:1) आप लोगों में द्वेष और लड़ाई-झगड़ा क्यों? क्या इसका कारण यह नहीं है कि आपकी वासनाएं आपके अन्दर लड़ाई करती हैं?

2) आप अपनी लालसा पूरी नहीं कर पाते और इसलिए हत्या करते हैं। आप जिस चीज़ के लिए ईर्ष्या करते हैं, उसे नहीं पाते और इसलिए लड़ते-झगड़ते हैं। आप प्रार्थना नहीं करते, इसलिए आप लोगों के पास कुछ नहीं होता।

3) जब आप माँगते भी हैं, तो इसलिए नहीं पाते कि अच्छी तरह प्रार्थना नहीं करते। आप अपनी वासनाओं की तृप्ति के लिए धन की प्रार्थना करते हैं।

सुसमाचार : मारकुस 9:30-37

30) वे वहाँ से चल कर गलीलिया पार कर रहे थे। ईसा नहीं चाहते थे कि किसी को इसका पता चले,

31) क्योंकि वे अपने शिष्यों को शिक्षा दे रहे थे। ईसा ने उन से कहा, "मानव पुत्र मनुष्यों के हवाले कर दिया जायेगा। वे उसे मार डालेंगे और मार डाले जाने के बाद वह तीसरे दिन जी उठेगा।"

32) शिष्य यह बात नहीं समझ पाते थे, किन्तु ईसा से प्रश्न करने में उन्हें संकोच होता था।

33) वे कफ़रनाहूम आये। घर पहुँच कर ईसा ने शिष्यों से पूछा, "तुम लोग रास्ते में किस विषय पर विवाद कर रहे थे?"

34) वे चुप रह गये, क्योंकि उन्होंने रास्ते में इस पर वाद-विवाद किया था कि हम में सब से बड़ा कौन है।

35) ईसा बैठ गये और बारहों को बुला कर उन्होंने उन से कहा, "जो पहला होना चाहता है, वह सब से पिछला और सब का सेवक बने"।

36) उन्होंने एक बालक को शिष्यों के बीच खड़ा कर दिया और उसे गले लगा कर उन से कहा,

37) "जो मेरे नाम पर इन बालकों में किसी एक का भी स्वागत करता है, वह मेरा स्वागत करता है और जो मेरा स्वागत करता है, वह मेरा नहीं, बल्कि उसका स्वागत करता है, जिसने मुझे भेजा है।"

📚 मनन-चिंतन

संत मदर तेरेसा कहती है, ‘‘विनम्रता सभी गुणों की जननी है; पवित्रता, दान और आज्ञाकारिता। विनम्र होने से ही हमारा प्रेम वास्तविक, समर्पित और उत्साही बनता है। यदि तुम विनम्र हो तो कुछ भी आपको परेशान नही कर सकता, न ही प्रशंसा और न ही अपमान, क्योंकि आप जानते हैं कि आप क्या हैं।’’ विनम्रता को सभी गुणों की शुरूआत माना जाता है। विनम्रता एक ऐसा गुण है जो हर एक को संतो के जीवन की ओर अ्रग्रसर करता है। प्रभु येसु ने निरंतर अपने वचनों में विनम्र बनने की शिक्षा प्रदान की है। क्यांेकि वह जानते थे कि मनुष्यों में एक बहुत ही प्रबल प्रवृत्ति है वह है अपने को बड़ा मानना, लोगो की बीच मंे महान समझा जाना। दूसरों की नजरों में बड़ें बनने की प्रवृत्ति हमारे स्वार्थ को बतलाती है जहॉं पर हम सिर्फ अपने विषय में सोचते है। यह स्वार्थ तभी दूर हो सकती जब हम अपने को छोड़ ईश्वर के बारे में सोचे, उन्हे अपने जीवन का कर्ता समझे तब जाकर हमारे अंदर विनम्रता का गुण उत्पन्न होगा।

हर कोई अपने को बड़ा बनना चाहता है या ऊॅंचा पद पाना चाहता है परंतु प्रभु बताते है बड़ा वही बन सकता है जो अपने को सबसे पिछला और सबका सेवक बनाये अर्थात् अपने को विनम्र बनाये। प्रभु कहना चाहते है जो व्यक्ति विनम्रता से परिपूर्ण है वही सच्चाई में महान है। संत याकूब 4ः10 में कहते है, ‘‘प्रभु के सामने दीन-हीन बनें और वह आप को ऊॅंचा उठायेगा।’’ हमें ऊपर उठाने वाला हमें बड़ा बनाने वाला प्रभु है और जो व्यक्ति अपने को विनम्रता बनाता है वह प्रभु की कृपा पाने के लिए अपने को योग्य बनाता है।

बाईबिल मूसा के बारे में बताती है, ‘‘मूसा अत्यन्त विनम्र था। वह पृथ्वी के सब मनुष्यों में सब से अधिक विनम्र था। (गणना 12ः3) व्यक्ति की सच्ची पहचान दुख या तकलीफ में होती है, जिस प्रकार प्रज्ञा ग्रंथ में लिखा है, ‘‘हम अपमान और अत्याचार से उसकी परीक्षा ले, जिससे हम उसकी विनम्रता जाने और उसका धैर्य परख सकें।’’ मूसा के सामने भी कई परेशानियॉं आयी और उसे विनम्रता में आगे बढ़ने में मदद करी जिस प्रकार प्रवक्ता ग्रंथ 2ः5 में लिखा है, ‘‘अग्नि में स्वर्ण की परख होती है और दीन-हीनता की घरिया में ईश्वर के कृपापात्रों की।’’ आईये हम विनम्रता का गुण अपने जीवन में अपनायें।

📚 REFLECTION

Saint Mother Teresa said, “Humility is the mother of all virtues; purity, charity and obedience. It is in being humble that our love becomes real, devoted and ardent. If you are humble nothing will touch you, neither praise nor disgrace, because you know what you are.” Humility is known to be the starting of all virtues. Humility is that virtue which leads a person towards the life of a Saint. Lord Jesus in his words taught many times to be humble; because he knew that in humans there is a strong tendeny to make oneself great, to be called great among others. The tendency to become great in front of others tells about the selfishness in us where we only think about oneself. This selfishness can be removed only when we think about God instead of oneself, to acknowledge him to be the doer of our lives then only the virtue of humility will grow within us.

Everyone wants to become great or to reach great position but Lord tells that only that person can become great who makes himself to be the very last and the servant of all that is to say to make oneself a humble person. Lord wants to tell that a person who is filled with humility is great in the real sense. St James says in 4:10, “Humble yourselves before the Lord and he will lift you up.” Making us great and lifting us up is upto God and one who makes himself a humble being he/she makes oneself worthy to receive God’s grace.

Bible tells about Moses, “Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth” (Num 12:3). The reality of person comes during the time of troubles and sorrows, as it is written in book of Wisdom, “Let us test him with cruelty and with torture, and thus explore this gentleness of his and put his patience to the test.” Many challenges came in front of Moses which helped him to grow in humility as it is written in Sirach 2:5, “For gold is tested in the fire, and those found acceptable, in the furnace of humiliation. Let’s imbibe the virtue of humility in our lives.
