First Reading: Revelation 18:1-2, 21-23; 19: 1-3, 9a

1 And after these things, I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power: and the earth was enlightened with his glory.

2 And he cried out with a strong voice, saying: Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen; and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every unclean spirit, and the hold of every unclean and hateful bird:

21 And a mighty angel took up a stone, as it were a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying: With such violence as this shall Babylon, that great city, be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.

22 And the voice of harpers, and of musicians, and of them that play on the pipe, and on the trumpet, shall no more be heard at all in thee; and no craftsman of any art whatsoever shall be found any more at all in thee; and the sound of the mill shall be heard no more at all in thee;

23 And the light of the lamp shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth, for all nations have been deceived by thy enchantments.

19:1 After these things I heard as it were the voice of much people in heaven, saying: Alleluia. Salvation, and glory, and power is to our God.

2 For true and just are his judgments, who hath judged the great harlot which corrupted the earth with her fornication, and hath revenged the blood of his servants, at her hands.

3 And again they said: Alleluia. And her smoke ascendeth for ever and ever.

9 And he said to me: Write: Blessed are they that are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith to me: These words of God are true.

Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 100: 1b-2, 3, 4, 5

1 A psalm of praise.

2 Sing joyfully to God, all the earth: serve ye the Lord with gladness. Come in before his presence with exceeding great joy.

3 Know ye that the Lord he is God: he made us, and not we ourselves. We are his people and the sheep of his pasture.

4 Go ye into his gates with praise, into his courts with hymns: and give glory to him. Praise ye his name:

5 For the Lord is sweet, his mercy endureth for ever, and his truth to generation and generation.

Gospel: Luke 21: 20-28

20 And when you shall see Jerusalem compassed about with an army; then know that the desolation thereof is at hand.

21 Then let those who are in Judea, flee to the mountains; and those who are in the midst thereof, depart out: and those who are in the countries, not enter into it.

22 For these are the days of vengeance, that all things may be fulfilled, that are written.

23 But woe to them that are with child, and give suck in those days; for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.

24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword; and shall be led away captives into all nations; and Jerusalem shall be trodden down by the Gentiles; till the times of the nations be fulfilled.

25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, by reason of the confusion of the roaring of the sea and of the waves;

26 Men withering away for fear, and expectation of what shall come upon the whole world. For the powers of heaven shall be moved;

27 And then they shall see the Son of man coming in a cloud, with great power and majesty.

28 But when these things begin to come to pass, look up, and lift up your heads, because your redemption is at hand.

वर्ष का चौंतीसवाँ सामान्य सप्ताह, गुरुवार

📒 पहला पाठ : प्रकाशना 18:1-2, 21-23, 19:1-3,9अ

18:1) इसके बाद मैंने एक अन्य स्वर्गदूत को स्वर्ग से उतरते देखा। वह महान् अधिकार से सम्पन्न था और पृथ्वी उसके तेज से प्रदीप्त हो उठी।

2) उसने उंचे स्वर से पुकार कर कहा, "उसका सर्वनाशा हो गया है! महान् बाबुल का सर्वनाश हो गया है! वह अपदूतों का डेरा, हर प्रकार के अशुद्ध आत्माओं और हर प्रकार के अशुद्ध एवं घृणित पक्षियों का बसेरा बन गया है;

21) तब तक बलवान् स्वर्गदूत ने चक्की के बड़े पाट-जैसा एक पत्थर उठाया और यह कहते हुए समुद्र में फेंका, "महानगर बाबुल इसी वेग से गिरा दिया जायेगा और उसका फिर कभी पता नहीं चलेगा।

22) वीणवादकों और संगीतकारों की, मुरली और तुरही बजाने वालों की आवाज तुझ में फिर कभी सुनाई नहीं पड़ेगी; किसी भी व्यवसाय के कारीगर तुझ में फिर कभी नहीं मिलेंगे। चक्की की आवाज़ तुझ में फिर कभी सुनाई नहीं पड़ेगी;

23) "दीपक का प्रकाश तुझ में फिर कभी दिखाई नहीं देगा;"वर और वधू का स्वर तुझ में फिर कभी सुनाई पड़ेगा; "क्योंकि तेरे व्यापारी पृथ्वी के अधिपति थे और तूने अपने जादू द्वारा सभी राष्ष्ट्रों को बहकाया।

19:1) इसके बाद मैंने स्वर्ग में एक विशाल जनसमुदाय की-सी ऊँची आवाज़ को यह गाते हुए सुना, "अल्लेलूया! हमारे ईश्वर को विजय, महिमा और सामर्थ्य,

2) क्योंकि उसके निर्णय सच्चे और न्याय-संगत हैं। उसने उस महावेश्या को दण्डित किया है, जो अपने व्यभिचार द्वारा पृथ्वी को दूष्षित करती थी और उसने उसको अपने सेवकों के रक्त का बदला चुकाया है।’

3) तब उन्होंने फिर पुकार कर कहा, "अल्लेलूया! उसके जलने का धुआं युग-युगों तक उठता रहेगा।"

9) स्वर्गदूत ने मुझे से कहा, "यह लिखो- धन्य हैं वे, जो मेमने के विवाह-भोज में निमन्त्रित हैं! "

📙 सुसमाचार : लूकस 21:20-28

20) "जब तुम लोग देखोगे कि येरुसालेम सेनाओं से घिर रहा है, तो जान लो कि उसका सर्वनाश निकट है।

21) उस समय जो लोग यहूदिया में हों, वे पहाड़ों पर भाग जायें; जो येरुसालेम में हों, वे बाहर निकल जायें और जो देहात में हों, वे नगर में न जायें;

22) क्योंकि वे दण्ड के दिन होंगे, जब जो कुछ लिखा है, वह पूरा हो जायेगा।

23) उनके लिए शोक, जो उन दिनों गर्भवती या दूध पिलाती होंगी! क्योंकि देश में घोर संकट और इस प्रजा पर प्रकोप आ पड़ेगा।

24) लोग तलवार की धार से मृत्यु के घाट उतारे जायेंगे। उन को बन्दी बना कर सब राष्ट्रों में ले जाया जायेगा और येरुसालेम ग़ैर-यहूदी राष्ट्रों द्वारा तब तक रौंदा जायेगा, जब तक उन राष्ट्रों का समय पूरा न हो जाये।

25) "सूर्य, चन्द्रमा और तारों में चिन्ह प्रकट होंगे। समुद्र के गर्जन और बाढ़ से व्याकुल हो कर पृथ्वी के राष्ट्र व्यथित हो उठेंगे।

26) लोग विश्व पर आने वाले संकट की आशंका से आतंकित हो कर निष्प्राण हो जायेंगे, क्योंकि आकाश की शक्तियाँ विचलित हो जायेंगी।

27) तब लोग मानव पुत्र को अपार सामर्थ्य और महिमा के साथ बादल पर आते हुए देखेंगे।

28) "जब ये बातें होने लगेंगी, तो उठ कर खड़े हो जाओ और सिर ऊपर उठाओ, क्योंकि तुम्हारी मुक्ति निकट है।"

📚 मनन-चिंतन

आज के सुसमाचार में दो चीज़ों का सर्वनाश के विषय में बताया गया है। एक तो हैं येरुसालेम शहर का सर्वनाश और दूसरा ये पूरें संसार का सर्वनाश।

येरुसालेम का सर्वनाश के विषय में प्रभु येसु बताते है कि किस प्रकार येरुसालेम शहर गैर-यहुदियों के द्वारा रौंदा जायेगा। यह संकट आने पर क्या करना चाहिए प्रभु येसु बताते है, ‘उस समय जो लोग यहूदिया में हों, वे पहाड़ों पर भाग जायें, जो येरुसालेम में हों, वे बाहर निकल जायें और जो देहात में हों, वे नगर में न जायें।’ यह एक प्रकार से स्वयं को येरुसालेम शहर में सर्वनाश होने से बचाने के लिए प्रभु ने कहा।

इसके पश्चात् प्रभु येसु संसार के सर्वनाश के विषय में बताते है। संसार का अंत होने से पहले प्रकृति में क्या क्या चिन्ह प्रकट होंगे उसके बारे में प्रभु बताते है; और जब संसार का अंत होगा तब प्रभु येसु का दूसरा आगमन होगा। येरुसालेम का सर्वनाश के समय लोगो के पास समय और उपाय था कि वे स्वयं को उस सर्वनाश से बचा सकें, परंतु जब प्रभु येसु का दूसरा आगमन होगा तो किसी के पास कुछ समय नहीं होगा।

येरुसालेम शहर का सर्वनाश रोम साम्राज्य द्वारा सन् 70 में हुआ था और अब प्रभु के दूसरे आगमन का इंतजार हैं। संसार का अंत और प्रभु का दूसरा आगमन का होना यह कब होगा, यह कोई नहीं जानता; परंतु हमें उस समय के लिए तैयार रहने की जरुरत हैं। यह तैयारी प्रभु की शिक्षा अनुसार जीवन बिताने की तैयारी हैं। आईये हम सब हर एक क्षण ऐसा जीवन बिताये जैसा प्रभु अगले ही पल आने वाले हो और आज का समय हमारे लिए आखिरी समय हो। प्रभु हमें उनके वचनों अनुसार जीवन जीने में मदद करें। आमेन!

📚 REFLECTION

In today’s gospel Destruction of two things are being told by Lord Jesus. One is the destruction of Jerusalem city and the other is the destruction of the world.

About the destruction of the Jerusalem city Lord Jesus tells that it will be trampled on by the gentiles and When this will come, Jesus tells what to do, ‘those in Judea must flee to the mountains, and those inside the city must leave it, and those out in the country must not enter it.’ Jesus said this as one kind of instruction in order to save oneself from the destruction in Jerusalem.

After this Jesus tells about the destruction of the world that what all signs will appear in the nature before the end of the world; and when the end of the world will come that is the time of Parousia i.e the second coming of Lord Jesus. During the time of Jerusalem destruction people had time and option to save themselves but when the Lord Jesus will come second time there will be no time for anyone.

The city of Jerusalem was destroyed by Romans in 70 AD and now is the time of waiting for the Second coming of Lord Jesus. When the world will end and when the second coming of Jesus will happen, no one knows. But we need to be prepared for that time. This preparation is the preparation of living according to the word of God. Let’s live each moment of our lives as if Jesus is going to come the very next moment and today’s time is the last time for us. May Lord Jesus help us to live according to his Words. Amen!
