First Reading: Daniel 9: 4b-10

4 I beseech thee, O Lord God, great and terrible, who keepest the covenant, and mercy to them that love thee, and keep thy commandments.

5 We have sinned, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly, and have revolted: and we have gone aside from thy commandments, and thy judgments.

6 We have not hearkened to thy servants the prophets, that have spoken in thy name to our kings, to our princes, to our fathers, and to all the people of the land.

7 To thee, O Lord, justice: but to us confusion of face, as at this day to the men of Juda, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel to them that are near, and to them that are far off in all the countries whither thou hast driven them, for their iniquities by which they have sinned against thee.

8 O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our princes, and to our fathers that have sinned.

9 But to thee, the Lord our God, mercy and forgiveness, for we have departed from thee:

10 And we have not hearkened to the voice of the Lord our God, to walk in his law, which he set before us by his servants the prophets.

चालीसे का दूसरा सप्ताह

पहला पाठ : दानिएल 9:4-10

4) "प्रभु! महान् एवं भीषण ईश्वर! तू अपना विधान बनाये रखता है। तू उन लोगों पर दयादृष्टि करता है, जो तुझे प्यार करते और तेरी आज्ञाओं का पालन करते हैं। हम लोगों ने पाप किया है, हमने अधर्म और बुराई की है, हमने तेरे विरुद्ध विद्रोह किया है।

5) हमने तरी आज्ञाओं तथा नियमों का मार्ग त्याग दिया है।

6) नबी तेरे सेवक, हमारे राजाओं, नेताओं, पुरखों और समस्त देश के लोगों को उपदेश देते थे। हमने उनकी शिक्षा पर ध्यान नहीं दिया है।

7) "प्रभु! तू न्यायी है और यहूदिया के लोग, येरुसालेम के निवासी, समस्त इस्राएली, चाहे वे निकट रहते हों, चाहे उन दूर देशों में बिखेर दिया है, हम सब-के-सब कलंकित हैं।

8) प्रभु! हम सब कलांकित हैं- हमारे राजा, हमारे शासक और हमारे पुरखे, क्योंकि हमने तेरे विरुद्ध पाप किया है।

9) "हमारा प्रभु-ईश्वर हम पर दयादृष्टि करे और हमें क्षमा प्रदान करे, क्योंकि हमने उसके विरुद्ध विद्रोह किया

10) और अपने प्रभु-ईश्वर की वाणी अनसुनी कर दी है। उसने अपने सेवकों, अपने नबियों द्वारा जो नियम हमारे सामने रखे थे हमने उनका पालन नहीं किया।

सुसमाचार : सन्त लूकस का सुसमाचार 6:36-38

36) "अपने स्वर्गिक पिता-जैसे दयालु बनो। दोष न लगाओ और तुम पर भी दोष नहीं लगाया जायेगा।

37) किसी के विरुद्ध निर्णय न दो और तुम्हारे विरुद्ध भी निर्णय नहीं दिया जायेगा। क्षमा करो और तुम्हें भी क्षमा मिल जायेगी।

38) दो और तुम्हें भी दिया जायेगा। दबा-दबा कर, हिला-हिला कर भरी हुई, ऊपर उठी हुई, पूरी-की-पूरी नाप तुम्हारी गोद में डाली जायेगी; क्योंकि जिस नाप से तुम नापते हो, उसी से तुम्हारे लिए भी नापा जायेगा।"

📚 मनन-चिंतन

पुराने विधान के अलग अलग ग्रन्थों में हमें ये पढने को मिलता है कि प्रभु एक करुणामय तथा कृपालू ईश्वर है। वह देर से क्रोध करता और अनुकम्पा तथा सत्यप्रतिज्ञता का धनी है। वह हज़ार पीढियों तक अपनी कृपा बनाये रखता और बुराई, अपराध और पाप क्षमा करता है। (निर्गमन 34:6-7,स्तोत्र 103:8, 145:8) नये विधान में प्रभु येसु हमसे कहते है कि हमें ईश्वर का यह स्वभाव हमारे जीवन में धाराण करना चाहिए ा इसलिए येसु आज के सुसमाचार में कहते है कि अपने स्वर्गिक पिता जैसे दयालू बनो, ईश्वर दोष नहीं लगाते है इसलिए तुम भी दोष न लगाओ, ईश्वर हमारे अनगिनित पापों को क्षमा करते है इसलिए तुम भी एक दूसरे को क्षमा करो। प्रभु अपने शिष्यों से ऐसा पूर्णता हासिल करने केलिए आग्रह करते है । सन्त मत्ती के सुसमाचार के 5:48 में येसु कहते है तूम पूर्ण बनो, जैसे तूम्हारा स्वर्गिक पिता पूर्ण है।

हम अपने आप से पूछे कि हम येसु के शिष्य होने के नाथे क्या हम में यह ईश्वरीय स्वभाव है कि नहीं। क्या जब कभि साथ रहने वाले हमारे विरुद्व अपराध करते है तब क्या हम उनके प्रति दयालूता प्रकट करते है? सन्त यूदस कहते है कि जो लोग जिनका विश्वास दृढ नहीं है, उन पर दया करें। (1:22) संत पौलुस कहते है कि यदि यह पता चले कि किसी ने कोई अपराध किया है, तो आप लोग, जो आध्यात्मिक हैं, उसे नम्रतापूर्वक सुधारें। (गलातियों 6:1) संत पौलुस यह इसलिए कहते है क्योंकि उन्होंने स्वयं ईश्वर की दयालुता का अनुभव अपने जीवन में की है। वह कहते है कि वह सबसे घोर पापी था लकिन उन पर ईश्वर ने अपनी दया प्रकट की। (1 तिमथी 1:15-16) संत पौलुस कहते है कि हम शरीर और मन के हर प्रकार के दूषण से अपने को शुद्व करें और ईश्वर पर श्रद्धा रखते हुए पवित्रता की परिपूर्णता तक पहॅुचने का प्रयत्न करते रहें। (2 कुरिन्थियों 7:1)

ईश्वर अपनी असीम दयालुता, सहनशीलता इसलिए प्रकट करते है तकि हम पश्चात्ताप करें (रोमियों 2:4) और नवजीवन प्राप्त करें। आईए दानिएल के समान हम भी हमारे पापों केलिए और एक दूसरे कि पापों केलिए प्रभु से क्षमा मागें। विशेष रुप में उन क्षणों केलिए जब हमने ईश्वर की दयालुता की तिरस्कार किया है और दूसरों पर दया प्रकट नहीं की है।

📚 REFLECTION

In the Old Testament there are many references where it is written that God is merciful and compassionate. The word of God says in Ex 34:6-7 The Lord a God merciful and gracious slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. Keeping steadfast love for the thousandth generation, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin. Like this we have in Ps 103:8, 145:8 etc. in the New Testament Jesus says that we need to have this character of God in our lives. Therefore Jesus says in the gospel that be merciful like the heavenly Father. God does not accuse therefore you also should not accuse others. God forgives our innumerable sins therefore we also should forgive each other. Jesus expects his disciples to attain the perfection like the father. Therefore Jesus says in Mt 5:48 be perfect like the heavenly father.

Let us ask ourselves that being a disciple of Jesus do we have the character of God? Are we able to forgive are we able to show compassion when our fellow brethren commits sin against us? St. Jude 1:22 have mercy on some who are wavering. Gal 6:1 My friends if anyone is detected in a transgression, you who have received the Spirit should restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness. St. Paul says that he himself has experienced in his life the mercy of God. He says in 1Tim 1:15-16 he was the foremost sinner but God show his mercy upon him. Therefore he says 2Cor 7:1 Let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and of spirit, making holiness perfect in the fear of God.

Rom 2:4 God is showing his unconditional mercy and patience so that we repent and receive new life. Let us come, like Daniel let us also ask pardon from the Lord for our sins and for the sins of others. Very specially let us ask pardon from the Lord when we ignored God’s mercy and also when we could not show mercy to our brothers and sisters.

1 And he brought me again to the gate of the house, and behold waters issued out from under the threshold of the house toward the east: for the forefront, of the house looked toward the east: but the waters came down to the right side of the temple to the south part of the altar.

2 And he led me out by the way of the north gate, and he caused me to turn to the way without the outward gate to the way that looked toward the east: and behold there ran out waters on the right side.

3 And when the man that had the line in his hand went out towards the east, he measured a thousand cubits: and he brought me through the water up to the ankles.

4 And again he measured a thousand, and he brought me through the water up to the knees.

5 And he measured a thousand, and he brought me through the water up to the loins. And he measured a thousand, and it was a torrent, which I could not pass over: for the waters were risen so as to make a deep torrent, which could not be passed over.

6 And he said to me: Surely thou hast seen, O son of man. And he brought me out, and he caused me to turn to the bank of the torrent.

7 And when I had turned myself, behold on the bank of the torrent were very many trees on both sides.

8 And he said to me: These waters that issue forth toward the hillocks of sand to the east, and go down to the plains of the desert, shall go into the sea, and shall go out, and the waters shall be healed.

3 In these lay a great multitude of sick, of blind, of lame, of withered; waiting for the moving of the water.

4 And an angel of the Lord descended at certain times into the pond; and the water was moved. And he that went down first into the pond after the motion of the water, was made whole, of whatsoever infirmity he lay under.

5 And there was a certain man there, that had been eight and thirty years under his infirmity.

6 Him when Jesus had seen lying, and knew that he had been now a long time, he saith to him: Wilt thou be made whole?

7 The infirm man answered him: Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pond. For whilst I am coming, another goeth down before me.

8 Jesus saith to him: Arise, take up thy bed, and walk.

9 And immediately the man was made whole: and he took up his bed, and walked. And it was the sabbath that day.

10 The Jews therefore said to him that was healed: It is the sabbath; it is not lawful for thee to take up thy bed.

11 He answered them: He that made me whole, he said to me, Take up thy bed, and walk.

12 They asked him therefore: Who is that man who said to thee, Take up thy bed, and walk?

13 But he who was healed, knew not who it was; for Jesus went aside from the multitude standing in the place.

14 Afterwards, Jesus findeth him in the temple, and saith to him: Behold thou art made whole: sin no more, lest some worse thing happen to thee.

15 The man went his way, and told the Jews, that it was Jesus who had made him whole.

16 Therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, because he did these things on the sabbath.

चालीसे का चौथा सप्ताह

पहला पाठ : एज़ेकिएल 47:1-9,

1) वह मुझे मंदिर के द्वार पर वापस ले आया। वहाँ मैंने देखा कि मन्दिर की देहली के नीचे से पूर्व की ओर जल निकल कर बह रहा है, क्योंकि मन्दिर का मुख पूर्व की ओर था। जल वेदी के दक्षिण में मन्दिर के दक्षिण पाश्र्व के नीचे से बह रहा था।

2) वह मुझे उत्तरी फाटक से बाहर-बाहर घुमा कर पूर्व के बाह्य फाटक तक ले गया। वहाँ मैंने देखा कि जल दक्षिण पाश्र्व से टपक रहा है।

3) उसने हाथ में माप की डोरी ले कर पूर्व की ओर जाते हुए एक हजार हाथ की दूरी नापी। तब उसने मुझे जलधारा को पार करने को कहा- पानी टखनों तक था।

4) उसने फिर एक हज़ार हाथ नाप कर मुझ से जलधारा को पार करने को कहा- पानी घुटनों तक था। उसने फिर एक हज़ार हाथ नाप कर मुझ से जलधारा को पार करने के कहा- पानी कमर तक था।

5) उसने फिर एक हज़ार हाथ की दूरी नापी- अब मैं उस जलधारा को पार नहीं कर सकता था, पानी इतना बढ़ गया था कि तैर कर ही पार करना संभव था। वह जलधारा ऐसी थी कि उसे कोई पार नहीं कर सकता था।

6) उसने मुझ से कहा, ’’मानवपुत्र! क्या तुमने इसे देखा?’’ तब वह मुझे ले गया और बाद में उसने मुझे फिर जलधारा के किनारे पर पहुँचा दिया।

7) वहाँ से लौटने पर मुझे जलधारा के दोनों तटों पर बहुत-से पेड़ दिखाई पड़े।

8) उसने मुझ से कहा, ’’यह जल पूर्व की ओर बह कर अराबा घाटी तक पहुँचता और समुद्र में गिरता है। यह उस समुद्र के खारे पानी को मीठा बना देता है।

9) यह नदी जहाँ कहीं गुज़रती है, वहाँ पृथ्वी पर विचरने वाले प्राणियों को जीवन प्रदान करती है। वहाँ बहुत-सी मछलिया पाय जायेंगी, क्योंकि वह धारा समुद्र का पानी मीठा कर देती है। और जहाँ कहीं भी पहुचती है, जीवन प्रदान करती है।

12) नदी के दोनों तटों पर हर प्रकार के फलदार पेड़े उगेंगे- उनके पत्ते नहीं मुरझायेंगें और उन पर कभी फलों की कमी नहीं होगी। वे हर महीने नये फल उत्पन्न करेंगे; क्योंकि उनका जल मंदिर से आता है। उनके फल भोजन और उनके पत्ते दवा के काम आयेंगे।

सुसमाचार : सन्त योहन 5:1-6

1) इसके कुछ समय बाद ईसा यहूदियों के किसी पर्व के अवसर पर येरुसालेम गये।

2) येरुसालेम में भेड़-फाटक के पास एक कुण्ड है, जो इब्रानी भाषा में बेथेस्दा कहलाता है। उसके पाँच मण्डप हैं।

3) उन में बहुत-से रोगी-अन्धे, लँगड़े और अद्र्धांगरोगी-पड़े हुए थे। (वे पानी के लहराने की राह देख रहे थे,

4) क्योंकि प्रभु का दूत समय-समय पर कुण्ड में उतर कर पानी हिला देता था। पानी के लहराने के बाद जो सब से पहले कुण्ड में उतरता था- चाहे वह किसी भी रोग से पीडि़त क्यों न हो- अच्छा हो जाता था।)

5) वहाँ एक मनुष्य था, जो अड़तीस वर्षों से बीमार था।

6) ईसा ने उसे पड़ा हुआ देखा और, यह जान कर कि वह बहुत समय से इसी तरह पड़ा हुआ है, उस से कहा, ‘‘क्या तुम अच्छा हो जाना चाहते हो’’

7) रोगी ने उत्तर दिया, ‘‘महोदय; मेरा कोई नहीं है, जो पानी के लहराते ही मुझे कुण्ड में उतार दे। मेरे पहुँचने से पहले ही उस में कोई और उतर पड़ता है।’’

8) ईसा ने उस से कहा, ‘‘उठ कर खड़े हो जाओ; अपनी चारपाई उठाओ और चलो’’।

9) उसी क्षण वह मनुष्य अच्छा हो गया और अपनी चारपाई उठा कर चलने-फिरने लगा।

10) वह विश्राम का दिन था। इसलिए यहूदियों ने उस से, जो अच्छा हो गया था, कहा, ‘‘आज विश्राम का दिन है। चारपाई उठाना तुम्हारे लिए उचित नहीं है।’’

11) उसने उत्तर दिया, ‘‘जिसने मुझे अच्छा किया, उसी ने मुझ से कहा- अपनी चार पाई उठाओ और चलो’’।

12) उन्होंने उस से पूछा, ‘‘कौन है वह, जिसने तुम से कहा- अपनी चारपाई उठाओ और चलो?’’

13) चंगा किया हुआ मनुष्य नहीं जानता था कि वह कौन है, क्योंकि उस जगह बहुत भीड़ थी और ईसा वहाँ से निकल गये थे।

14) बाद में मंदिर में मिलने पर ईसा ने उस से कहा, ‘‘देखो, तुम चंगे हो गये हो। फिर पाप नहीं करो। कहीं ऐसा न हो कि तुम पर और भी भारी संकट आ पड़े।’’

15) उस मनुष्य ने जा कर यहूदियों को बताया कि जिन्होंने मुझे चंगा किया है, वह ईसा हैं।

16) यहूदी ईसा को इसलिए सताते थे कि वे विश्राम के दिन ऐसे काम किया करते थे।
