First Reading: Isaiah 50: 4-9a

4 The Lord hath given me a learned tongue, that I should know how to uphold by word him that is weary: he wakeneth in the morning, in the morning he wakeneth my ear, that I may hear him as a master.

5 The Lord God hath opened my ear, and I do not resist: I have not gone back.

6 I have given my body to the strikers, and my cheeks to them that plucked them: I have not turned away my face from them that rebuked me, and spit upon me.

7 The Lord God is my helper, therefore am I not confounded: therefore have I set my face as a most hard rock, and I know that I shall not be confounded.

8 He is near that justifieth me, who will contend with me? let us stand together, who is my adversary? let him come near to me.

9 Behold the Lord God is my helper: who is he that shall condemn me?

Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 69: 8-10, 21-22, 31 and 33-34

R. (14c) In the multitude of thy mercy hear me.

8 Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; shame hath covered my face.

9 I am become a stranger to my brethren, and an alien to the sons of my mother.

Gospel: Matthew 26: 14-25

14 Then went one of the twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot, to the chief priests,

15 And said to them: What will you give me, and I will deliver him unto you? But they appointed him thirty pieces of silver.

16 And from thenceforth he sought opportunity to betray him.

17 And on the first day of the Azymes, the disciples came to Jesus, saying: Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the pasch?

18 But Jesus said: Go ye into the city to a certain man, and say to him: the master saith, My time is near at hand, with thee I make the pasch with my disciples.

19 And the disciples did as Jesus appointed to them, and they prepared the pasch.

20 But when it was evening, he sat down with his twelve disciples.

21 And whilst they were eating, he said: Amen I say to you, that one of you is about to betray me.

22 And they being very much troubled, began every one to say: Is it I, Lord?

23 But he answering, said: He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, he shall betray me.

24 The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man shall be betrayed: it were better for him, if that man had not been born.

25 And Judas that betrayed him, answering, said: Is it I, Rabbi? He saith to him: Thou hast said it.

पुण्य सप्ताह, बुधवार

पहला पाठ : इसायाह का ग्रन्थ 50:4-9

4) प्रभु ने मुझे शिय बना कर वाणी दी है, जिससे मैं थके-माँदे लोगों को सँभाल सकूँ। वह प्रतिदिन प्रातः मेरे कान खोल देता है, जिससे मैं शिय की तरह सुन सकूँ।

5) प्रभु ने मेरे कान खोल दिये हैं; मैंने न तो उसका विरोध किया और न पीछे हटा।

6) मैंने मारने वालों के सामने अपनी पीठ कर दी और दाढ़ी नोचने वालों के सामने अपना गाल। मैंने अपमान करने और थूकने वालों से अपना मुख नहीं छिप़ाया।

7) प्रभु मेरी सहायता करता है; इसलिए मैं अपमान से विचलित नहीं हुआ। मैंने पत्थर की तरह अपना मुँह कड़ा कर लिया। मैं जानता हूँ कि अन्त में मुझे निराश नही होना पड़ेगा।

8) मेरा रक्षक निकट है, तो मेरा विरोधी कौन? हम एक दूसरे का सामना करें। मुझ पर अभियोग लगाने वाला कौन? वह आगे बढ़ने का साहस करे।

9) प्रभु-ईश्वर मेरी सहायता करता है, तो कौन मुझे दोषी ठहराने का साहस करेगा? मेरे सभी विरोधी वस्त्र की तरह जीर्ण हो जायेंगे, उन्हें कीड़े खा जायेंगे।

सुसमाचार : सन्त मत्ती का सुसमाचार 26:14-25

14) तब बारहों में से एक, यूदस इसकारियोती नामक व्यक्ति ने महायाजकों के पास जा कर

15) कहा, ’’यदि मैं ईसा को आप लोगों के हवाले कर दूँ, तो आप मुझे क्या देने को तैयार हैं?’’ उन्होंने उसे चाँदी के तीस सिक्के दिये।

16) उस समय से यूदस ईसा को पकड़वाने का अवसर ढूँढ़ता रहा।

17) बेख़मीर रोटी के पहले दिन शिष्य ईसा के पास आकर बोले, ’’आप क्या चाहते हैं? हम कहाँ आपके लिए पास्का-भोज की तैयारी करें?’’

18) ईसा ने उत्तर दिया, ’’शहर में अमुक के पास जाओ और उस से कहो, ’गुरुवर कहते हैं- मेरा समय निकट आ गया है, मैं अपने शिष्यों के साथ तुम्हारे यहाँ पास्का का भोजन करूँगा’।’’

19) ईसा ने जैसा आदेश दिया, शिष्यों ने वैसा ही किया और पास्का-भोज की तैयारी कर ली।

20) सन्ध्या हो जाने पर ईसा बारहों शिष्यों के साथ भोजन करने बैठे।

21) उनके भोजन करते समय ईसा ने कहा, ’’मैं तुम लोगों से यह कहता हूँ- तुम में से ही एक मुझे पकड़वा देगा’’।

22) वे बहुत उदास हो गये और एक-एक कर उन से पूछने लगे, ’’प्रभु! कहीं वह मैं तो नहीं हूँ?’’

23) ईसा ने उत्तर दिया, ’’जो मेरे साथ थाली में खाता है, वह मुझे पकड़वा देगा।

24) मानव पुत्र तो चला जाता है, जैसा कि उसके विषय में लिखा है; परन्तु धिक्कार उस मनुष्य को, जो मानव पुत्र को पकड़वाता है! उस मनुष्य के लिए कहीं अच्छा यही होता कि वह पैदा ही नहीं हुआ होता।’’

25) ईसा के विश्वासघाती यूदस ने भी उन से पूछा, ’’गुरुवर! कहीं वह मैं तो नहीं हूँ? ईसा ने उत्तर दिया, तुमने ठीक ही कहा’’।

📚 मनन-चिंतन

प्रभु येसु को उनके शिष्यों से तिरस्कार का अनुभव करना पडा। यूदस इसकारियोति ने येसु को धोखा दिया, पेत्रुस ने येसु को तीन बार अस्वीकार किया और अन्य शिष्य भी उन्हें छोड का भग गये। इसके अलावा फरिसियों, सदूक्कियों और शास्त्रियों ने येसु को कटोर दण्ड दिया और क्रुस पर लटका दिया। सैनिको द्वारा उन पर थूका गया, उनके गाल पर थप्पड मारा गाया, उनके सिर पर कॉटों का मुकुट रखा गया, कोडों से मारा गया, उपहास किया गया, नंगा किया गया। इस प्रकार की बहुत सारी पीड़ायें येसु को सहनी पड़ी।

येसु को मालूम था कि मानव जाती को उद्वार करने केलिए उनको यह सब सहन करना अनिवार्य था। इसलिए आज के पहले पाठ में ईश्वर के सेवक सम्बन्धी तीसरा काव्य में कहा गया है- मैंने मारने वालों के सामने अपनी पीठ कर दी और दाढ़ी नोचने वालों के सामने अपना गाल। मैंने अपमान करने और थुकने वालों से अपना मुख नहीं छिपाया। येसु ने यह सब इसलिए सहा कि प्रभु उनकी सहायता करता है; इसलिए वह अपमान से विचलित नहीं हुआ। उसने पत्थर की तरह उनका मुॅह कड़ा कर लिया। वह जानता था कि अन्त में उनको निराश नहीं होना पडेगा।

इस पवित्र हफते में हम येसु के घोर पीडा सहन एवं क्रूस मरण पर मनन चिन्तन करें ताकि हमें हमारे दुःख दर्द येसु के समान सहने की शक्ति मिले। संत पौलूस 2 निमथी 1:12 मैं यहॉ यह कष्ट सह रहा हॅू, किन्तु मैं इस से लज्जित नहीं हॅू; क्योंकि मैं जानता हॅू कि मैंने किस पर भरोसा रखा है। और संत पौलूस कहते है रोमियों 8:18 मैं समझता हॅू कि हम में जो महिमा प्रकट होने को है, उसकी तुलना में इस समय का दुःख नगण्य है।

📚 REFLECTION

Jesus felt abandoned by his own disciples. Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus; Peter denied Jesus three times, the other disciples deserted Jesus. Other than this the Pharisees, Sadducees and the Scribes gave horrible punishment to Jesus by hanging him on the cross. Soldiers spat on Jesus face, slapped him, mocked him, scourged him and put a crown of thorns on his head. In this way Jesus had to undergo so many pains in his life.

Jesus knew that in order to do penance for the sins of the world he had to undergo so many sufferings. Therefore I today’s first reading about the third poem of the suffering servant of Yahweh says to us: I gave my back to those who struck me, and my cheeks to those who pulled out the beard; I did not hide my face from insult and spitting. The Lord God helps me; therefore I have not been disgraced; therefore I have set my face like flint, and I know that I shall not be put to shame; he who vindicates me is near.

In this holy week let us reflect upon the passion death of Jesus Christ, so that we get grace to suffer like Jesus in all our pains. St. Paul says in 2Tim 1:12 for this reason I suffer as I do. But I am not ashamed, for I know the one in whom I have put my trust, and I am sure that he is able to guard until that day what I have entrusted to him. In Rom 8:18 St. Paul says I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory about to be revealed to us.
