10 And he said: I heard thy voice in paradise; and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.

11 And he said to him: And who hath told thee that thou wast naked, but that thou hast eaten of the tree whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldst not eat?

12 And Adam said: The woman, whom thou gavest me to be my companion, gave me of the tree, and I did eat.

13 And the Lord God said to the woman: Why hast thou done this? And she answered: The serpent deceived me, and I did eat.

14 And the Lord God said to the serpent: Because thou hast done this thing, thou art cursed among all cattle, and beasts of the earth: upon thy breast shalt thou go, and earth shalt thou eat all the days of thy life.

15 I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel.

20 And Adam called the name of his wife Eve: because she was the mother of all the living.

1 A psalm for David himself. Sing ye to the Lord anew canticle: because he hath done wonderful things. His right hand hath wrought for him salvation, and his arm is holy.

2 The Lord hath made known his salvation: he hath revealed his justice in the sight of the Gentiles.

3 He hath remembered his mercy his truth toward the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with spiritual blessings in heavenly places, in Christ:

4 As he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and unspotted in his sight in charity.

5 Who hath predestinated us unto the adoption of children through Jesus Christ unto himself: according to the purpose of his will:

6 Unto the praise of the glory of his grace, in which he hath graced us in his beloved son.

11 In whom we also are called by lot, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things according to the counsel of his will.

Gospel: Luke 1: 26-38

26 And in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God into a city of Galilee, called Nazareth,

27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.

28 And the angel being come in, said unto her: Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

29 Who having heard, was troubled at his saying, and thought with herself what manner of salutation this should be.

30 And the angel said to her: Fear not, Mary, for thou hast found grace with God.

31 Behold thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and shalt bring forth a son; and thou shalt call his name Jesus.

32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the most High; and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of David his father; and he shall reign in the house of Jacob for ever.

33 And of his kingdom there shall be no end.

34 And Mary said to the angel: How shall this be done, because I know not man?

35 And the angel answering, said to her: The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the most High shall overshadow thee. And therefore also the Holy which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

36 And behold thy cousin Elizabeth, she also hath conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her that is called barren:

माता मरियम का निष्कलन्क गर्भागमन

📒 पहला पाठ : उत्पत्ति ग्रन्थ 3:9-15.20

9) प्रभु-ईश्वर ने आदम से पुकार कर कहा, ''तुम कहाँ हो?''

10) उसने उत्तर दिया, ''मैं बगीचे में तेरी आवाज सुन कर डर गया, क्योंकि में नंगा हूँ और मैं छिप गया''।

11) प्रभु ने कहा, ''किसने तुम्हें बताया कि तुम नंगे हो? क्या तुमने उस वृक्ष का फल खाया, जिस को खाने से मैंने तुम्हें मना किया था?''

12) मनुष्य ने उत्तर दिया, ''मेरे साथ रहने कि लिए जिस स्त्री को तूने दिया, उसी ने मुझे फल दिया और मैंने खा लिया''।

13) प्रभु-ईश्वर ने स्त्री से कहा, ''तुमने क्या किया है?'' और उसने उत्तर दिया, ''साँप ने मुझे बहका दिया और मैंने खा लिया''।

14) तब ईश्वर ने साँप से कहा, ''चूँकि तूने यह किया है, तू सब घरेलू तथा जंगली जानवरों में शापित होगा। तू पेट के बल चलेगा और जीवन भर मिट्टी खायेगा।

15) मैं तेरे और स्त्री के बीच, तेरे वंश और उसके वंश में शत्रुता उत्पन्न करूँगा। वह तेरा सिर कुचल देगा और तू उसकी एड़ी काटेगा''।

20) पुरुष ने अपनी पत्नी का नाम 'हेवा' रखा, क्योंकि वह सभी मानव प्राणियों की माता है।

दूसरा पाठ: एफ़ेसियों के नाम सन्त पौलुस का पत्र 1:3-6,11-12

3) धन्य है हमारे प्रभु ईसा मसीह का ईश्वर और पिता! उसने मसीह द्वारा हम लोगों को स्वर्ग के हर प्रकार के आध्यात्मिक वरदान प्रदान किये हैं।

4) उसने संसार की सृष्टि से पहले मसीह में हम को चुना, जिससे हम मसीह से संयुक्त हो कर उसकी दृष्टि में पवित्र तथा निष्कलंक बनें।

5) उसने प्रेम से प्रेरित हो कर आदि में ही निर्धारित किया कि हम ईसा मसीह द्वारा उसके दत्तक पुत्र बनेंगे। इस प्रकार उसने अपनी मंगलमय इच्छा के अनुसार

6) अपने अनुग्रह की महिमा प्रकट की है। वह अनुग्रह हमें उसके प्रिय पुत्र द्वारा मिला है,

11 (11-12) ईश्वर सब बातों में अपने मन की योजना पूरी करता है। उसके अनुसार उसने निर्धारित किया है कि हम (यहूदी) मसीह द्वारा बुलाये जायें और हम लोगों के कारण उसकी महिमा की स्तुति हो। हम लोगों ने तो सब से पहले मसीह पर भरोसा रखा था।

📙 सुसमाचार : सन्त लूकस का सुसमाचार 1:26-38

26) छठे महीने स्वर्गदूत गब्रिएल, ईश्वर की ओर से, गलीलिया के नाजरेत नामक नगर में एक कुँवारी के पास भेजा गया,

27) जिसकी मँगनी दाऊद के घराने के यूसुफ नामक पुरुष से हुई थी, और उस कुँवारी का नाम था मरियम।

29) वह इन शब्दों से घबरा गयी और मन में सोचती रही कि इस प्रणाम का अभिप्राय क्या है।

30) तब स्वर्गदूत ने उस से कहा, ’’मरियम! डरिए नहीं। आप को ईश्वर की कृपा प्राप्त है।

31) देखिए, आप गर्भवती होंगी, पुत्र प्रसव करेंगी और उनका नाम ईसा रखेंगी।

32) वे महान् होंगे और सर्वोच्च प्रभु के पुत्र कहलायेंगे। प्रभु-ईश्वर उन्हें उनके पिता दाऊद का सिंहासन प्रदान करेगा,

33) वे याकूब के घराने पर सदा-सर्वदा राज्य करेंगे और उनके राज्य का अन्त नहीं होगा।’’

34) पर मरियम ने स्वर्गदूत से कहा, ’’यह कैसे हो सकता है? मेरा तो पुरुष से संसर्ग नहीं है।’’

35) स्वर्गदूत ने उत्तर दिया, ’’पवित्र आत्मा आप पर उतरेगा और सर्वोच्च प्रभु की शक्ति की छाया आप पर पड़ेगी। इसलिए जो आप से उत्पन्न होंगे, वे पवित्र होंगे और ईश्वर के पुत्र कहलायेंगे।

36) देखिए, बुढ़ापे में आपकी कुटुम्बिनी एलीज़बेथ के भी पुत्र होने वाला है। अब उसका, जो बाँझ कहलाती थी, छठा महीना हो रहा है;

37) क्योंकि ईश्वर के लिए कुछ भी असम्भव नहीं है।’’

38) मरियम ने कहा, ’’देखिए, मैं प्रभु की दासी हूँ। आपका कथन मुझ में पूरा हो जाये।’’ और स्वर्गदूत उसके पास से चला गया।

📚 मनन-चिंतन

आज, कलीसिया प्रभु येसु की माँ धन्य कुँवारी मरियम के निष्कलंक गर्भागमन का त्यौहार मना रही है। यिरमियाह 1: 5 में, प्रभु नबी से कहते हैं, “माता के गर्भ में तुम को रचने से पहले ही मैंने तुम को जान लिया। तुम्हारे जन्म से पहले ही मैंने तुम को पवित्र किया। मैंने तुम को राष्ट्रों का नबी नियुक्त किया।” स्तोत्र 139:15-16 में स्तोत्रकार कहता है, “जब मैं अदृश्य में बन रहा था, जब मैं गर्भ के अन्धकार में गढ़ा जा रहा था, तो तूने मेरी हड्डियों को बढ़ते देखा। तूने मेरे सब कर्मों को देखा। वे सब तेरे ग्रन्थ में लिखे हैं। घटित होने के पूर्व ही मेरे दिनों की सीमा निर्धारित की गयी।” यिरमियाह 29:11 में पवित्र वचन कहता है, “मैं तुम्हारे लिए निर्धारित अपनी योजनाएँ जानता हूँ“- यह प्रभु की वाणी है- “तुम्हारे हित की योजनाएँ, अहित की नहीं, तुम्हारे लिए आशामय भविय की योजनाए।” पृथ्वी पर हमारा जीवन बहुत ही योजनाबद्ध रीति से प्रभु की सतर्क निगरानी में आगे बढ़ता है। आज का त्यौहार हमें प्रभु ईश्वर द्वारा हमारे संरक्षण की याद दिलाता है। उनका संरक्षण न केवल एक या कुछ व्यक्तियों के लिए है, बल्कि प्रभु सारी मानवजाति का ख्याल करते हैं। उन्होंने माँ मरियम को चुना और गर्भाधान के समय ही उन्हें पवित्र किया, ताकि वे प्रभु के लिए एक उपयुक्त मंदिर बन जायें। स्वर्ग के बारे में पवित्र बाइबिल कहती है, "उस में न तो कोई अपवित्र वस्तु प्रवेश कर पायेगी और न कोई ऐसा व्यक्ति, जो घृणित काम करता या झूठ बोलता है। केवल वही प्रेवेश कर पायेंगे, जिनके नाम मेमने के जीवन-ग्रन्थ में अंकित हैं।" (प्रकाशना 21:27)। मरियम का बेदाग और निषकलंक होना कितना ज़रूरी था, ताकि सबको पवित्र करने वाले ईश्वर उनसे जन्म ले सकें। आज का त्यौहार हमें पवित्र बनने की चुनौती देता है ताकि हम पृथ्वी पर प्रभु के मंदिर बन सकें।

📚 REFLECTION

Today, the Church celebrates the immaculate conception of Mary, the mother of Jesus. In Jer 1:5 God tells Jeremiah, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” In Ps 139:15-16, the Psalmist says, “My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes beheld my unformed substance. In your book were written all the days that were formed for me, when none of them as yet existed.” In Jer 29:11 the Word says, “surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.” Our life on earth is very well planned and executed under his watchful care on the earth. Today’s feast reminds us of this constant watchful care of the Lord. Today’s feast is not about God’s welfare plan for an individual, but for all humanity. He chose Mary and purified her already at conception, so that she may become a fitting temple for the Lord. Regarding heaven the Bible says, “nothing unclean will enter it, nor anyone who practices abomination or falsehood, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s book of life.” (Rev 21:27). How much more necessary was it for Mary to be immaculate, so that God who is Holy can take birth from her. Today’s feast challenges us to be holy so that we can become temples of God on the earth.

1 The land that was desolate and impassable shall be glad, and the wilderness shall rejoice, and shall flourish like the lily.

2 It shall bud forth and blossom, and shall rejoice with joy and praise: the glory of Libanus is given to it: the beauty of Carmel, and Saron, they shall see the glory of the Lord, and the beauty of our God.

3 Strengthen ye the feeble hands, and confirm the weak knees.

4 Say to the fainthearted: Take courage, and fear not: behold your God will bring the revenge of recompense: God himself will come and will save you.

5 Then shall the eyes of the blind be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.

6 Then shall the lame man leap as a hart, and the tongue of the dumb shall be free: for waters are broken out in the desert, and streams in the wilderness.

20 Whose faith when he saw, he said: Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.

21 And the scribes and Pharisees began to think, saying: Who is this who speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?

22 And when Jesus knew their thoughts, answering, he said to them: What is it you think in your hearts?

23 Which is easier to say, Thy sins are forgiven thee; or to say, Arise and walk?

24 But that you may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,) I say to thee, Arise, take up thy bed, and go into thy house.

25 And immediately rising up before them, he took up the bed on which he lay; and he went away to his own house, glorifying God.

आगमन का दूसरा सप्ताह, सोमवार

📒 पहला पाठ: इसायाह का ग्रन्थ 35:1-10

1) मरुस्थल और निर्जल प्रदेश आनन्द मनायें। उजाड़ भूमि हर्शित हो कर फले-फूले,

2) वह कुमुदिनी की तरह खिल उठे, वह उल्लास और आनन्द के गीत गाये। उसे लेबानोन का गौरब दिया गया है, करमेल तथा शारोन की शोभा। लोग प्रभु की महिमा तथा हमारे ईश्वर के प्रताप के दर्शन करेंगे।

3 थके-माँदे हाथों को शक्ति दो, निर्बल पैरों को सुदढ़ बना दो।

4) घबराये हुए लोगों से कहो- “ढारस रखों डरो मत! देखो, तुम्हारा ईश्वर आ रहा है। वह बदला चुकाने आता है, वह प्रतिशोध लेने आता है, वह स्वयं तुम्हें बचाने आ रहा है।“

5) तब अन्धों की आँखें देखने और बहरों के कान सुनने लगेंगे। लँगड़ा हरिण की तरह छलाँग भरेगा। और गूँगे की जीभ आनन्द का गीत गायेगी।

6) मरुस्थल में जल की धाराएँ फूट निकलेंगी, रेतीले मैदानों में नदियाँ बह जायेंगी,

7) सूखी धरती झील बन जायेगी और प्यासी धरती में झरने निकलेंगे। जहाँ पहले सियारों की माँद थी, वहाँ सरकण्डे और बेंत उपजेंगे।

8) वहाँ एक राजमार्ग बिछा दिया जायेगा, जो ‘पवत्रि मार्ग’ कहलायेगा। कोई भी पापी उस पर नहीं चलेगा। प्रभु स्वयं यह मार्ग तैयार करेगा- नास्तिक भूल कर भी उस पर पैर नहीं रखेंगे।

9) वहाँ न तो कोई सिंह विचरेगा और न कोई हिंसक पशु मिलेगा। प्रभु की प्रजा उस पर चलेगी।

10) प्रभु ने जिन्हें मुक्त कर दिया है, वे ही उस पर लौटेंगे। वे गाते-बजाते हुए सियोन लौटेंगे, उनके मुख पर अपार आनन्द खिल उठेगा। वे हर्ष और उल्लास के साथ लौटेंगे। दुःख और विलाप का अन्त हो जायेगा।

📙 सुसमाचार : सन्त लूकस 5:17-26

17) ईसा किसी दिन शिक्षा दे रहे थे। फरीसी और शास्त्री ईसा किसी दिन शिक्षा दे रहे थे। फ़रीसी और शास्त्री पास ही बैठे हुए थे। वे गलीलिया तथा यहूदिया के हर एक गाँव से और येरुसालेम से भी आये थे। प्रभु के सामर्थ्य से प्रेरित हो कर ईसा लोगों को चंगा क

18) उसी समय कुछ लोग खाट पर पड़े हुए एक अद्र्धांगरोगी को ले आये। वे उसे अन्दर ले जा कर ईसा के सामने रख देना चाहते थे।

19) भीड़ के कारण अद्र्धागरोगी को भीतर ले जाने का कोई उपाय न देख कर वे छत पर चढ़ गये और उन्होंने खपड़े हटा कर खाट के साथ अद्र्धांगरोगी को लोगों के बीच में ईसा सामने उतार दिया।

20) उनका विश्वास देख कर ईसा ने कहा, ’’भाई! तुम्हारे पाप क्षमा हो गये हैं’’।

21) इस पर शास्त्री और फ़रीसी सोचने लगे, ’’ईश-निन्दा करने वाला यह कौन है? ईश्वर के सिवा कौन पाप क्षमा कर सकता है?’’

22) उनके ये विचार जान कर ईसा ने उन से कहा, ’’मन-ही-मन क्या सोच रहे हो?

23) अधिक सहज क्या है-यह कहना, ’तुम्हारे पाप क्षमा हो गये हैं; अथवा यह कहना उठो, और चलो फिरो’?;

24) परन्तु इसलिए कि तुम लोग यह जान लो कि मानव पुत्र को पृथ्वी पर पाप क्षमा करने का अधिकार है, वह अद्र्धांगरोगी से बोले मैं तुम से कहता हूँ, उठो और अपनी खाट उठा कर घर जाओ।

25) उसी क्षण वह सब के सामने उठ खड़ा हुआ और अपनी खाट उठा कर ईश्वर की स्तुति करते हुए अपने घर चला गया।

26) सब-के-सब विस्मित हो कर ईश्वर की स्तुति करते रहे। उन पर भय छा गया और वे कहते थे, ’’आज हमने अद्भुत कार्य देखे हैं’’।

📚 मनन-चिंतन

हम देखते हैं कि प्रभु येसु अकसर उस व्यक्ति में विश्वास की उम्मीद करते हैं जो चंगाई की आशा करता हो। संत पौलुस भी इसी प्रकार चंगाई पाने की आशा रखने वालों में विश्वास पाने की आशा करते हैं। प्रेरित-चरित 14: 9-10 में हम एक जन्म से लंगडे व्यक्ति की चंगाई के बारे में पढ़ते हैं। पवित्र बाइबिल कहती है, "पौलुस ने उस पर दृष्टि गड़ायी और उस में स्वस्थ हो जाने योग्य विश्वास देख कर ऊँचे स्वर में कहा, "उठो और अपने पैरों पर खड़े हो जाओ"। वह उछल पड़ा और चलने-फिरने लगा।" लेकिन प्रभु येसु द्वारा अर्ध्दांग रोगी की चंगाई के विवरण में हम पाते हैं कि प्रभु उन लोगों के विश्वास से प्रेरित होते हैं जिन्होंने उस रोगी को उसके घर से उठा कर लाने का कष्ट किया तथा छत खोल कर उसकी चारपाई को प्रभु येसु के सामने उतारने की परेशानी उठायी। हमारा विश्वास हमारी और दूसरों की मदद कर सकता है। प्रभु पर विश्वास करने वाला व्यक्ति चंगाई प्राप्त करने के साथ-साथ दूसरों के लिए आशीर्वाद का माध्यम भी बनता है जिस प्रकार इब्राहीम दूसरों के लिए आशीर्वाद बन गये थे।

📚 REFLECTION

We see Jesus often expecting faith in the person to be healed. In Acts 14:9-10 we read about the healing of the crippled man. The Bible says, “And Paul, looking at him intently and seeing that he had faith to be healed, said in a loud voice, “Stand upright on your feet.” And the man sprang up and began to walk.” But in the healing of the paralyzed man Jesus was moved by the faith of the people who brought him to him and took the trouble to climb on the roof and lower the stretcher through the tiles to place him right in front of Jesus. Our faith can help us and others. A person with faith does not only receive healing, but he/she can be a channel of Blessing for others just as Abraham was to be a blessing for others.

IS 40:1-5, 9-11

Comfort, give comfort to my people,
says your God.
Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her
that her service is at an end,
her guilt is expiated;
indeed, she has received from the hand of the LORD
double for all her sins.

A voice cries out:
In the desert prepare the way of the LORD!
Make straight in the wasteland a highway for our God!
Every valley shall be filled in,
every mountain and hill shall be made low;
the rugged land shall be made a plain,
the rough country, a broad valley.
Then the glory of the LORD shall be revealed,
and all people shall see it together;
for the mouth of the LORD has spoken.

Go up on to a high mountain,
Zion, herald of glad tidings;
cry out at the top of your voice,

2 PT 3:8-14

Do not ignore this one fact, beloved,
that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years
and a thousand years like one day.
The Lord does not delay his promise, as some regard “delay,”
but he is patient with you,
not wishing that any should perish
but that all should come to repentance.
But the day of the Lord will come like a thief,
and then the heavens will pass away with a mighty roar
and the elements will be dissolved by fire,
and the earth and everything done on it will be found out.

Since everything is to be dissolved in this way,
what sort of persons ought you to be,
conducting yourselves in holiness and devotion,
waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God,
because of which the heavens will be dissolved in flames
and the elements melted by fire.
But according to his promise
we await new heavens and a new earth
in which righteousness dwells.
Therefore, beloved, since you await these things,
be eager to be found without spot or blemish before him, at peace.

MK 1:1-8

The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ the Son of God.

As it is written in Isaiah the prophet:
Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of you;
he will prepare your way.
A voice of one crying out in the desert:
“Prepare the way of the Lord,
make straight his paths.”
John the Baptist appeared in the desert
proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.
People of the whole Judean countryside
and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem
were going out to him
and were being baptized by him in the Jordan River
as they acknowledged their sins.
John was clothed in camel’s hair,
with a leather belt around his waist.
He fed on locusts and wild honey.
And this is what he proclaimed:
“One mightier than I is coming after me.
I am not worthy to stoop and loosen the thongs of his sandals.
I have baptized you with water;
he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”

आगमन का दूसरा रविवार

📒 पहला पाठ: इसायाह का ग्रन्थ 40:1-5.9-11

1) तुम्हारा ईश्वर यह कहता है, “मेरी प्रजा को सान्त्वना दो, सान्त्वना दो।

2) यरुसालेम को ढारस बँधओ और पुकार कर उस से यह कहो कि उसकी विपत्ति के दिन समाप्त हो गये हैं और उसके पाप का प्रायश्चित हो चुका है। प्रभु-ईश्वर के हाथ से उसे सभी अपराधों का पूरा-पूरा दण्ड मिल चुका हैं।“

3) यह आवाज़ आ रही है, “निर्जन प्रदेश में प्रभु का मार्ग तैयार करो। हमारे ईश्वर के लिए मैदान में रास्ता सीधा कर दो।

4) हर एक घाटी भर दी जाये। हर एक पहाड़ और पहाड़ी समतल की जाये, खड़ी चट्ठान को मैदान और कगार को घाटी बना दिया जाये।

5) तब प्रभु-ईश्वर की महिमा प्रकट हो जायेगी और सब शरीरधारी उसे देखेंगे; क्योंकि प्रभु ने ऐसा ही कहा है।“

9) सियोन को शुभ सन्देश सुनाने वाले! ऊँचे पहाड़ पर चढ़ो। यरुसालेम को शुभ सन्देश सुनाने वाले! अपनी आवाज़ ऊँची कर दो। निडर हो कर यूदा के नगरों से पुकार कर यह कहोः “यही तुम्हारा ईश्वर है।“

10) देखो प्रभु-ईश्वर सामध्र्य के साथ आ रहा है। वह सब कुछ अपने अधीन कर लेगा। वह अपना पुरस्कार अपने साथ ला रहा है और उसका विजयोपहार भी उसके साथ है।

11) वह गड़ेरिये की तरह अपना रेवड़ चराता है। वह मेमने को उठा कर अपनी छाती से लगा लेता और दूध पिलाने वाली भेडें धीरे-धीरे ले चलता है।

📕 दूसरा पाठ : पेत्रुस का दूसरा पत्र 3:8-14

8) प्यारे भाइयो! यह बात अवश्य याद रखें कि प्रभु की दृष्टि में एक दिन हज़ार वर्ष के समान है और हज़ार वर्ष एक दिन के समान।

9) प्रभु अपनी प्रतिज्ञाएं पूरी करने में विलम्ब नहीं करता, जैसा कि कुछ लोग समझते हैं। किन्तु वह आप लोगों के प्रति सहनशील है और यह चाहता है कि किसी का सर्वनाश नहीं हो, बल्कि सब-के-सब पश्चाताप करें।

10) प्रभु का दिन चोर की तरह आयेगा। उस दिन आकाश गरजता हुआ विलीन हो जायेगा, मूलतत्व जल कर पिघल जायेंगे और पृथ्वी तथा उस पर जो कुछ है, वह सब भस्म हो जायेगा।

11) यदि यह सब इस प्रकार नष्ट होने को है, तो आप लोगों को चाहिए कि पवित्र तथा भक्तिपूर्ण जीवन व्यतीत करें

12) और उत्सुकता से इ्रश्वर के दिन की प्रतीक्षा करें। उस दिन आकाश जल कर विलीन हो जायेगा और मूलतत्व ताप के कारण पिघल जायेंगे।

13) हम उसकी पतिज्ञा के आधार पर एक नये आकाश तथा एक नयी पृथ्वी की प्रतीक्षा करते हैं; जहाँ धार्मिकता निवास करेगी।

14) इसलिए, प्यारे भाइयो! इन बातों की प्रतीक्षा करते हुए इस प्रकार प्रयत्न करते रहे कि आप लोग प्रभु की दृष्टि में निष्कलंक, निर्दोष तथा उसके अनुकूल हों।

📙 सुसमाचार : सन्त मारकुस 1:1-8

1) ईश्वर के पुत्र ईसा मसीह के सुसमाचार का प्रारम्भ।

2) नबी इसायस के ग्रन्थों में लिखा है- मैं अपने दूत को तुम्हारे आगे भेजता हूँ। वह तुम्हारा मार्ग तैयार करेगा।

3) निर्जन प्रदेश में पुकारने वाले की आवाज़- प्रभु का मार्ग तैयार करो; उसके पथ सीधे कर दो।

4) इसी के अनुसार योहन बपतिस्ता निर्जन प्रदेश में प्रकट हुआ, जो पापक्षमा के लिए पश्चाताप के बपतिस्मा का उपदेश देता था।

5) सारी यहूदिया और येरुसालेम के लोग योहन के पास आते और अपने पाप स्वीकार करते हुए यर्दन नदी में उस से बपतिस्मा ग्रहण करते थे।

6) योहन ऊँट के रोओं का कपड़ा पहने और कमर में चमड़े का पट्टा बाँधे रहता था। उसका भोजन टिड्डियाँ और वन का मधु था।

7) वह अपने उपदेश में कहा करता था, ’’जो मेरे बाद आने वाले हैं, वह मुझ से अधिक शक्तिशाली हैं। मैं तो झुक कर उनके जूते का फ़ीता खोलने योग्य भी नहीं हूँ।

8) मैंने तुम लोगों को जल से बपतिस्मा दिया है। वह तुम्हें पवित्र आत्मा से बपतिस्मा देंगे।’’

📚 मनन-चिंतन

आज आगमन का दूसरा रविवार है। आज के सुसमाचार में, संत मारकुस सन्त योहन बपतिस्ता को नबी इसायाह की भविष्यवाणी के पूर्तिकरण के रूप में प्रस्तुत करते हैं। जब कोई राजा किसी अभियान में जाता था, विशेष रूप से उन्हें किसी बंजर या ऊबड़-खाबड़ इलाके से गुजरना पड़ता था, तब उनके सामने कोई अग्रदूत जाता था और उनके लिए रास्ता तैयार करता था। एसे अग्रदूतों को कभी पुल बनाना, पहाड़ को समतल करना, पत्थरों को हटाना या फ़िर घाटियों को भरना पड़ता था। उस प्रसंग को लेते हुए, नबी इसायाह योहन बपतिस्ता के बारे में भविष्यवाणी करते हैं, जिसे मसीहा के लिए रास्ता तैयार करने का कार्य सौंपा गया है।

आज जब हम प्रभु के आगमन की तैयारी के बारे में सोचते हैं तब हम पश्चात्ताप और मनपरिवर्तन के पाँच चरणों को याद रखें।

1. हमारे पापों के लिए खेद महसूस करना। 2 कुरिन्थियों 7: 9-10 में संत पौलुस दो प्रकार के दुख के बारे में बताते हैं। वे कहते हैं, "जो दुःख ईश्वर की इच्छानुसार स्वीकार किया जाता है, उस से ऐसा कल्याणकारी हृदय-परिवर्तन होता है कि खेद का प्रश्न ही नहीं उठता। संसार के दुःख से मृत्यु उत्पन्न होती है।" हमें पाप के कारण निराश होने की आवश्यकता नहीं है। बल्कि हमें उन पापों के लिए दुख महसूस होना चाहिए जो हमने किए हैं और हमारे मार्ग को बदलने का निर्णय लेना चाहिए। तत्पंश्चात हमें फिर से ईश्वर की ओर अभिमुख होना चाहिए।

2. पापों को स्वीकार करना और त्यागना: हमें अपने पिता के पास वापस आने वाले उड़ाऊ पुत्र की तरह अपना दुख व्यक्त करना चाहिए। उसने अपने पिता से कहा, '' पिता जी! मैने स्वर्ग के विरुद्ध और आपके प्रति पाप किया है। मैं आपका पुत्र कहलाने योग्य नहीं रहा।” (लूकस 15:21)

3. संशोधन करना या बदलाव लाना: हम पवित्र बाइबिल में ज़केयुस को ऐसा करते हुए पाते हैं। लूकस 19: 8 में हम पढ़ते हैं, "ज़केयुस ने दृढ़ता से प्रभु से कहा, "प्रभु! देखिए, मैं अपनी आधी सम्पत्ति ग़रीबों को दूँगा और मैंने जिन लोगों के साथ किसी बात में बेईमानी की है, उन्हें उसका चौगुना लौटा दूँगा"।

4. प्रभु की आज्ञाओं का पालन करना: हमें अपने प्रभु ईश्वर के निर्देशों के अनुसार जीना शुरू करना होगा। हमें प्रभु की इच्छा को स्वीकार करते हुए जीवन बिताना होगा।

5. प्रभु की ओर मुड़ना और प्रभु तथा प्रभु की प्रजा की सेवा करना।

📚 REFLECTION

Today is the Second Sunday of Advent. In today’s Gospel, St. Mark, the Evangelist introduces John the Baptist as the fulfillment of the prophecy of Prophet Isaiah. When the king was on a journey or an expedition especially through a barren and unfrequented or inhospitable country, there would be forerunners who would go ahead and prepare the way for him. Such forerunners had to make bridges, level mountains and fill valleys. Taking that context Prophet Isaiah prophesied about John the Baptist, the one who had to prepare the way for the Messiah.

Today when we think of preparing for the coming of the Lord we may list five steps:

1. Being sorry for our sins: In 2 Cor 7:9-10 St. Paul speaks about two types of sorrows. He says, “For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation and brings no regret, but worldly grief produces death.” We need not and should not get frustrated with sin. On the other hand, we should be sorry for the sins we have committed and decide to change our path. We need retrace our path back to God.

2. Confessing and forsaking sins : We need to express our sorrow like the prodigal son who came to his Father and said, “‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you; I am no longer worthy to be called your son” (Lk 15:21)

3. Making amends: This we see being done by Zacchaeus. In Lk 19:8 we read, “Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord, “Look, half of my possessions, Lord, I will give to the poor; and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I will pay back four times as much.”

4. Obeying the commandments of the Lord: We need to then start living according to the directions of our God. The will of God should be accepted.

5. Turning to the Lord and Serving the Lord and His people.

मनन-चिंतन - 2

ईश्वर प्यार है और इस प्यार को प्रकट करते हुए ईश्वर ने मनुष्य को रूप दिया। सृष्टिकर्ता प्रभु ने उसको अपने ही प्रतिरूप में बना कर इस दुनिया में भेजा ताकि मनुष्य, ईश्वर की सन्तान के रूप में पृथ्वी पर एक निर्दोष एवं निष्कलंक जीवन बिताए।

इतना ही नहीं, प्रभु ने उनके द्वारा बनायी हुई सब सृष्ट वस्तुओं पर मनुष्य को अधिकार दिया और कहा – “फलो-फूलो। पृथ्वी पर फैल जाओ और उसे अपने अधीन कर लो। समुद्र की मछलियों, आकाश के पक्षियों और पृथ्वी पर विचरने वाले सब जीव-जन्तुओं पर शासन करो।“ (उत्पत्ति 1:28) ताकि वह औचित्य और न्याय से संसार का शासन करे और निष्कपट हृदय से निर्णय दे (प्रज्ञा 9:3)

लेकिन मनुष्य ने ईश्वर की इच्छा के विपरीत पापमय जीवन बिताना और सृष्ट वस्तुओं का गलत इस्तेमाल करना शुरू किया। मानव-जाति के गरिमामय जीवन का पतन देख कर ईश्वर ने समय-समय पर अपने नबियों एवं धर्मात्माओं द्वारा मानव को पापमय जीवन त्याग कर एक पवित्र जीवन अपनाने के लिए प्रेरित किया। लेकिन सारा परिश्रम नाकाम रहा। इस कारण से मॉ से भी ज्यादा प्यार करने वाले प्रभु मानव को पापों से बचाने के लिए इनसान बन कर इस संसार में आये। इस महत्वपूर्ण घटना की याद दिलाने वाला पर्व मनाने के लिए हम तैयारी में लगे हुए हैं।

आज के तीनों पाठ हम से जो इस पर्व की तैयारी में लगे हुए हैं, यह आग्रह करते हैं कि अगर हमें मुक्तिदाता येसु मसीह को स्वीकार करना है तो अपना मार्ग सीधा करना होगा। ईश्वर जो स्वयं मार्ग हैं और हमें मार्ग दिखाने वाले हैं उस ईश्वर को हमारे जीवन में प्रवेश करने के लिए हमारे जीवन की ओर आने का मार्ग सीधा करने के लिए आज के तीनों पाठ हम से आग्रह करते हैं। कहने का मतलब यह है कि इस आगमन काल में हम गंभीरता से हमारे आध्यात्मिक जीवन की परिस्थिति की ओर निष्पक्ष रूप से देखें और येसु द्वारा बताये गये आदर्श जीवन के साथ तुलना करते हुए हम जॅाच कर देखें और जो अंतर है उसका हल करे। जो परिवर्तन या सुधार हमारे जीवन में अनिवार्य है वह जीवन में लाते हुए इस आगमन काल के लिए अपने आपको तैयार करें। क्योंकि हम ऎसा जीवन बिता रहे है कि हम यह नहीं जानते कि कल हमारा क्या हाल होगा। हमारा जीवन एक कुहरा मात्र है - वह एक क्षण दिखाई दे कर लुप्त हो जाता है।(याकूब 4:14)

जब तक हम अपने जीवन का मार्ग सीधा नहीं करते हैं तब तक हम प्रभु को अपने जीवन में स्वीकार कर नहीं कर पायेंगे और प्रभु के सेवक भी नहीं बन पायेंगे। नबी इ्सायाह के जीवन में एक समय था जब ईश्वर के लिए उनके जीवन में न तो पूर्ण रूप से मार्ग ही तैयार नहीं था और न ही रास्ता सीधा नहीं था। लेकिन वे ईश्वर से प्रार्थना करके अनुग्रह प्राप्त करते हैं। नबी इसायाह ने ईश्वर से कहा- “हाय! हाय! मैं नष्ट हुआ; क्योंकि मैं तो अशुद्ध होंठों वाला मनुष्य हॅू, अशुद्ध होंठों वाले मनुष्यों के बीच रहता हूँ”। वचन कहता है तुरन्त एक सराफीम अंगार से इसायाह के होंठों को स्पर्श करते हुए उनका पाप दूर करता है और अधर्म मिटाता है। (इसायाह 6:5-7) नबी इसायाह के समान, योहन बपतिस्ता भी निर्जन प्रदेश में प्रार्थना एवं उपवास में समय बिताते हुए उनके जीवन में प्रभु के लिए मार्ग तैयार करते हैं। इस के बाद ही वे दोनों, लोगों से आग्रह करते हैं कि वे भी प्रभु को स्वागत करने के लिए मार्ग तैयार करें; उसके पथ सीधे कर दें।

आज के पहले पाठ में नबी इसायाह बाबुल निर्वासन में जो लोग हैं उनको आश्वासन देते हुए कहते हैं कि ईश्वर शीघ्र ही उनका उद्धार करने वालें हैं और नवजीवन देने वाले हैं। लेकिन दिन आने से पहले सबको अपने आपको शुद्ध करके तैयार रहना होगा। दूसरे पाठ में भी संत पेत्रुस, प्रभु येसु के द्वितीय आगमन की प्रतीक्षा में रहने वाले विश्वासियों से, एक नये आकाश तथा एक नयी पृथ्वी की प्रतीक्षा करने वाले लोगों से कहते हैं कि वे पवित्र तथा भक्ति पूर्ण जीवन व्यतीत करते हुए, उत्सुकता से ईश्वर के दिन की प्रतीक्षा करें। (1पेत्रुस 3:11.13)

आईए हम भी प्रभु को स्वीकार करने के लिए अपने आपको तैयार करें। हमारे जीवन की अवस्था जो कुछ भी हो हम उसको ईश्वर के पास लायें। हमारे पाप सिंदूर की तरह लाल क्यों न हों, किरमिज की तरह मटमैले क्यों न हो, हम उनको प्रभु के पास लाए क्योंकि प्रभु के पास लाने से वे हिम की तरह उज्ज्वल हो जायेंगे और वे ऊन की तरह श्वेत हो जायेंगे। (इसायाह 1:18) ईश्वर के लिए कुछ भी असंभव नहीं है (लूकस 1:37) उनके कहने पर सूखी हड्डियों में जीवन आ सकता है। (एज़ेकिएल 37:1)
