3 And God said: Be light made. And light was made.

4 And God saw the light that it was good; and he divided the light from the darkness.

5 And he called the light Day, and the darkness Night; and there was evening and morning one day.

6 And God said: Let there be a firmament made amidst the waters: and let it divide the waters from the waters.

7 And God made a firmament, and divided the waters that were under the firmament, from those that were above the firmament, and it was so.

8 And God called the firmament, Heaven; and the evening and morning were the second day.

9 God also said: Let the waters that are under the heaven, be gathered together into one place: and let the dry land appear. And it was so done.

10 And God called the dry land, Earth; and the gathering together of the waters, he called Seas. And God saw that it was good.

11 And he said: Let the earth bring forth the green herb, and such as may seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after its kind, which may have seed in itself upon the earth. And it was so done.

12 And the earth brought forth the green herb, and such as yieldeth seed according to its kind, and the tree that beareth fruit, having seed each one according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

13 And the evening and the morning were the third day.

14 And God said: Let there be lights made in the firmament of heaven, to divide the day and the night, and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years:

15 To shine in the firmament of heaven, and to give light upon the earth. And it was so done.

16 And God made two great lights: a greater light to rule the day; and a lesser light to rule the night: and the stars.

17 And he set them in the firmament of heaven to shine upon the earth.

18 And to rule the day and the night, and to divide the light and the darkness. And God saw that it was good.

19 And the evening and morning were the fourth day.

6 The deep like a garment is its clothing: above the mountains shall the waters stand.

10 Thou sendest forth springs in the vales: between the midst of the hills the waters shall pass.

12 Over them the birds of the air shall dwell: from the midst of the rocks they shall give forth their voices.

24 How great are thy works, O Lord? thou hast made all things in wisdom: the earth is filled with thy riches.

Gospel: Mark 6: 53-56

53 And when they had passed over, they came into the land of Genezareth, and set to the shore.

54 And when they were gone out of the ship, immediately they knew him:

55 And running through that whole country, they began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was.

56 And whithersoever he entered, into towns or into villages or cities, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch but the hem of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole.

पहला पाठ : उत्पत्ति ग्रन्थ 1:1-19

1) प्रारंभ में ईश्वर ने स्वर्ग और पृथ्वी की सृष्टि की।

2) पृथ्वी उजाड़ और सुनसान थी। अर्थाह गर्त पर अन्धकार छाया हुआ था और ईश्वर का आत्मा सागर पर विचरता था।

3) ईश्वर ने कहा, ''प्रकाश हो जाये'', और प्रकाश हो गया।

4) ईश्वर को प्रकाश अच्छा लगा और उसने प्रकाश और अन्धकार को अलग कर दिया।

5) ईश्वर ने प्रकाश का नाम 'दिन' रखा और अन्धकार का नाम 'रात'। सन्ध्या हुई और फिर भोर हुआ यह पहला दिन था।

6) ईश्वर ने कहा, ''पानी के बीच एक छत बन जाये, जो पानी को पानी से अलग कर दे'', और ऐसा ही हुआ।

7) ईश्वर ने एक छत बनायी और नीचे का पानी और ऊपर का पानी अलग कर दिया।

8) ईश्वर ने छत का नाम 'आकाश' रखा। सन्ध्या हुई और फिर भोर हुआ यह दूसरा दिन था।

9) ईश्वर ने कहा, ''आकाश के नीचे का पानी एक ही जगह इक्कट्ठा हो जाये और थल दिखाई पड़े'', और ऐसा ही हुआ।

10) ईश्वर ने थल का नाम 'पृथ्वी' रखा और जलसमूह का नाम 'समुद्र'। और वह ईश्वर को अच्छा लगा।

11) ईश्वर ने कहा ''पृथ्वी पर हरियाली लहलहाये, बीजदार पौधे और फलदार पेड़ उत्पन्न हो जायें, जो अपनीअपनी जाति के अनुसार बीजदार फल लाये'', और ऐसा ही हुआ।

12) पृथ्वी पर हरियाली उगने लगी : अपनीअपनी जाति के अनुसार बीज पैदा करने वाले पौधे और बीजदार फल देने वाले पेड़। और यह ईश्वर को अच्छा लगाा।

13) सन्ध्या हुई और फिर भोर हुआ यह तीसरा दिन था।

14) ईश्वर ने कहा, ''दिन और रात को अलग कर देने के लिए आकाश में नक्षत्र हों। उनके सहारे पर्व निर्धारित किये जायें और दिनों तथा वर्षों की गिनती हो।

15) वे पृथ्वी को प्रकाश देने के लिए आकाश में जगमगाते रहें'' और ऐसा ही हुआ।

16) ईश्वर ने दो प्रधान नक्षत्र बनाये, दिन के लिए एक बड़ा और रात के लिए एक छोटा; साथसाथ तारे भी।

17) ईश्वर ने उन को आकाश में रख दिया, जिससे वे पृथ्वी को प्रकाश दें,

18) दिन और रात का नियंत्रण करें और प्रकाश तथा अन्धकार को अलग कर दें और यह ईश्वर को अच्छा लगा।

19) सन्ध्या हुई और फिर भोर हुआ यह चौथा दिन था।

सुसमाचार : सन्त मारकुस का सुसमाचार 6:53-56

53) समुद्र के उस पार गेनेसरेत पहुँच कर उन्होंने नाव किनारे लगा दी।

54) ज्यों ही वे भूमि पर उतरे, लोगों ने ईसा को पहचान लिया और वे उस सारे प्रदेश से दौड़ते हुए आये।

55) जहाँ कहीं ईसा का पता चलता था, वहाँ वे चारपाइयों पर पड़े रोगियों को उनके पास ले आते थे।

56) गाँव, नगर या बस्ती, जहाँ कहीं भी ईसा आते थे, वहाँ लोग रोगियों को चैकों पर रख कर अनुनय-विनय करते थे कि वे उन्हें अपने कपड़े का पल्ला भर छूने दें। जितनों ने उनका स्पर्श किया, वे सब-के-सब अच्छे हो गये।

📚 मनन-चिंतन

आज के सुसमाचार में गलीलिया के साधारण लोगों को देखते हैं जो येसु को पहचान लेने के बाद अपने रोगियों को उठा-उठाकर येसु के पास ले आते हैं। वे येसु के वस्त्र का पल्ला भर छूने के लिए तरसते थे क्योंकि उनका मानना था कि उनके ठीक होने के लिए उनके कपडे को छूना ही पर्याप्त होगा। लोगों का येसु को ढूंढते हुए आना और उनके द्वारा चंगाई में उनका दृढ विश्वास कबीले तारीफ है। हमें भी हमारे जीवन में ईश्वर की उस ऊर्जा का होना आवश्यक है। जब ईश्वर की बात आती है तो हमें भी उस लोगों की भीड़ की तरह येसु को दिल से खोजने और येसु पर अपना ध्यान केंद्रित करने की ज़रूरत है । हम सभी अपने विश्वास के संबंध में थोड़ा गुनगुना और उदासीन हो सकते हैं। हम हमारे विश्वास को मजबूत करें और विश्वास की ज्योति को हमेशा प्रज्वलित रखें। आमेन।

📚 REFLECTION

Today’s short Gospel reading gives us a picture of the ordinary people of Galilee hurrying to Jesus, once they recognized him, with many of them bringing with them the sick on stretchers. They asked Jesus that the sick be allowed just to touch the fringe of his cloak. They believed that would be enough for them to be healed. The people’s determination to get to where Jesus was and their total trust in his healing presence is very striking. It generated tremendous energy in them. We all need to have something of that energy for the Lord for ourselves. Just as the crowds hurried to Jesus with a very clear focus on him, we too need something of their determination and focus when it comes to the Lord. We can all become a little lukewarm and indifferent in regard to our faith. Every so often we need to ask the Lord, in the words of Saint Paul, to fan into a living flame the gift that we have received, the gift of our relationship with the Lord that was given to us at our baptism.

वर्ष का पांचवां सामान्य रविवार

पहला पाठ : अय्यूब (योब) का ग्रन्थ 7:1-4, 6-7

1) क्या इस पृथ्वी पर मनुष्य का जीवन सेना की नौकरी की तरह नहीं? क्या उसके दिन मज़दूर के दिनों की तरह नहीं बीतते?

2) क्या वह दास की तरह नहीं, जो छाया के लिए तरसता हैं? मज़दूर की तरह, जिसे समय पर वेतन नहीं मिलता?

3) मुझे महीनों निराशा में काटना पड़ता है। दुःखभरी रातें मेरे भाग्य में लिखी है।

4) शय्या पर लेटते ही कहता हूँ- भोर कब होगा? उठते ही सोचता हूँ-सन्ध्या कब आयेगी? और मैं सायंकाल तक निरर्थक कल्पनाओं में पड़ा रहता हूँ।

6) मेरे दिन जुलाहें की भरती से भी अधिक तेजी से गुजर गये और तागा समाप्त हो जाने पर लुप्त हो गये हैं।

7) प्रभु! याद रख कि मेरा जीवन एक श्वास मात्र है और मेरी आँखें फिर अच्छे दिन नहीं देखेंगी।

दूसरा पाठ : कुरिन्थियों के नाम सन्त पौलुस का पहला पत्र 9:16-19,22-23

16) मैं इस पर गौरव नहीं करता कि मैं सुसमाचार का प्रचार करता हूँ। मुझे तो ऐसा करने का आदेश दिया गया है। धिक्कार मुझे, यदि मैं सुसमाचार का प्रचार न करूँ!

17) यदि मैं अपनी इच्छा से यह करता, तो मुझे पुरस्कार का अधिकार होता। किन्तु मैं अपनी इच्छा से यह नहीं करता। मुझे जो कार्य सौंपा गया है, मैं उसे पूरा करता हूँ।

18) तो, पुरस्कार पर मेरा कौन-सा दावा है? वह यह है कि मैं कुछ लिये बिना सुसमाचार का प्रचार करता हूँ और सुसमाचार-सम्बन्धी अपने अधिकारों का पूरा उपयोग नहीं करता।

19) सब लोगों से स्वतन्त्र होने पर भी मैंने अपने को सबों का दास बना लिया है, जिससे मैं अधिक -से-अधिक लोगों का उद्धार कर सकूँ।

22) मैं दुर्बलों के लिए दुर्बल-जैसा बना, जिससे मैं उनका उद्धार कर सकूँ। मैं सब के लिए सब कुछ बन गया हूँ, जिससे किसी-न-किसी तरह कुछ लोगों का उद्धार कर सकूँ।

23) मैं यह सब सुसमाचार के कारण कर रहा हूँ, जिससे मैं भी उसके कृपादानों का भागी बन जाऊँ।

सुसमाचार : सन्त मारकुस 1:29-39

29) वे सभागृह से निकल कर याकूब और योहन के साथ सीधे सिमोन और अन्द्रेयस के घर गये।

30) सिमोन की सास बुख़ार में पड़ी हुई थी। लोगों ने तुरन्त उसके विषय में उन्हें बताया।

31) ईसा उसके पास आये और उन्होंने हाथ पकड़ कर उसे उठाया। उसका बुख़ार जाता रहा और वह उन लोगों के सेवा-सत्कार में लग गयी।

32) सन्ध्या समय, सूरज डूबने के बाद, लोग सभी रोगियों और अपदूतग्रस्तों को उनके पास ले आये।

33) सारा नगर द्वार पर एकत्र हो गया।

34) ईसा ने नाना प्रकार की बीमारियों से पीडि़त बहुत-से रोगियों को चंगा किया और बहुत-से अपदूतों को निकाला। वे अपदूतों को बोलने से रोकते थे, क्योंकि वे जानते थे कि वह कौन हैं।

35) दूसरे दिन ईसा बहुत सबेरे उठ कर घर से निकले और किसी एकान्त स्थान जा कर प्रार्थना करते रहे।

36) सिमोन और उसके साथी उनकी खोज में निकले

37) और उन्हें पाते ही यह बोले, ’’सब लोग आप को खोज रहे हैं’’।

38) ईसा ने उन्हें उत्तर दिया, ’’हम आसपास के कस्बों में चलें। मुझे वहाँ भी उपदेश देना है- इसीलिए तो आया हूँ।’’

39) और वे उनके सभागृहों में उपदेश देते और अपदूतों को निकलाते हुए सारी गलीलिया में घूमते रहते थे।

📚 मनन-चिंतन

आज के सुसमाचार में, हम येसु को प्रार्थना में पाते हैं। वे पूरा दिन टूटे और निराश , थके और बीमार लोगों के बीच सेवकाई करते थे। और अल सुबह उठकर वे एकांत जगह पर जाकर प्रार्थना करते है। दुनिया के बोझों को हल्का करने में वे खुद बोझिल हो जाते हैं। लेकिन प्रार्थना उनके लिए एक ऐसा समय था जब वह अपना बोझ पिता के साथ साझा कर सकते थे । ऐसा करने पर उन्हें अपना काम जारी रखने के लिए नई आध्यात्मिक ऊर्जा प्राप्त होती थी जिससे प्रेरित होकर वे कहते हैं - आइए हम आस-पास के कस्बों में चलें मुझे वहां भी सुसमाचार सुनना है। सबसे अच्छा शिक्षण अक्सर उदाहरण के द्वारा होता है। यीशु हमें यहाँ अपने उदाहरण से सिखा रहा है कि हमारे जीवन के हर बोझ को हम प्रार्थना में ईश्वर की ओर उठायें जिससे ईश्वर हमारे भोझ को हल्का करके हमें आगे बढ़ने के लिए नयी ऊर्जा व ताकत दे सकें।

📚 REFLECTION

In today’s Gospel reading, we find Jesus at prayer. He had been ministering to the broken most of the day. Early next morning, he got up and went off to a lonely place and prayed there. Working with the burdened no doubt left him burdened, as is the case for all of us. His prayer was a time when he could share his burden with the Father. In doing so, he found strength to continue. ‘Let us go elsewhere, to the neighbouring country towns’, he said to his disciples after his prayer. The best teaching is often by example. Jesus is teaching us here by his own example to lift up whatever may be in our hearts and minds to God and in doing that to find new strength.

संत मारकुस के सुसमाचार 1:29-39 में हम येसु के व्यस्त जीवन चर्या के बारे में सुनते हैं। येसु ने दिन भर लोगों की सेवा के कार्य किये। उन्होंने सभागृह में शिक्षा दी इसके बाद वे सिमोन और अन्द्रेयस के घर गये| वहाँ पर उन्होंने सिमोन की सास के बुखार को दूर किया। इसके बाद लगभग सारा नगर ही अपने रोगियों तथा अपदूतग्रस्तों को लेकर उनके पास शाम सूरज ढलने के बाद भी आता रहा। इस व्यस्त एवं थकाने वाली कार्यशैली के मध्य भी येसु अगले दिन बहुत सबेरे उठ कर प्रार्थना करने जाते हैं। प्रभु येसु का इस प्रकार प्रार्थना करना उनके जीवन का अभिन्न अंग था। सुसमाचार में येसु अक्सर प्रार्थना करते पाये जाते हैं। संत लूकस के सुसमाचार में हम पाते हैं कि ’’एक दिन ईसा किसी स्थान पर प्रार्थना कर रहे थे। प्रार्थना समाप्त होने पर उनके एक शिष्य ने उन से कहा, ‘‘प्रभु! हमें प्रार्थना करना सिखाइए, जैसे योहन ने भी अपने शिष्यों को सिखाया’’। (लूकस 11:1) उस शिष्य ने येसु से यह इसलिये पूछा कि उसने येसु को प्रार्थना करते हुये देखा था। येसु का प्रार्थनामय जीवन ही शिष्यों के मन में प्रार्थना करने की भावना उत्पन्न करता है।

सुसमाचार में येसु लगभग हमेशा प्रार्थना करते हुये दर्शाये गये हैं। प्रार्थना येसु के जीवन का मुख्य कार्य था। येसु ने दूसरों के लिए प्रार्थना की जैसा कि हम मत्ती 19:13,15 पाते हैं। ’’उस समय लोग ईसा के पास बच्चों को लाते थे, जिससे वे उन पर हाथ रख कर प्रार्थना करें। शिष्य लोगों को डाँटते थे,....और वह बच्चों पर हाथ रख कर वहाँ से चले गये।’’ इसी प्रकार योहन 17:1,9 में वे अपने शिष्यों के लिए प्रार्थना करते हैं, ’’यह सब कहने के बाद ईसा अपनी आँखें उपर उठाकर बोले, ’’पिता!... मैं उनके लिये विनती करता हूँ। मैं संसार के लिये नहीं, बल्कि उनके लिये विनती करता हूँ, जिन्हें तूने मुझे सौंपा है क्योंकि वे तेरे ही हैं।’’ इसी प्रकार उन्होंने पेत्रुस के लिए भी प्रार्थना की ताकि वह अपनी जिम्मेदारियों को पूर्ण निष्ठा के साथ निभा सकें, ‘‘सिमोन! सिमोन! शैतान को तुम लोगों को गेहूँ की तरह फटकने की अनुमति मिली है। परन्तु मैंने तुम्हारे लिए प्रार्थना की है,’’(लूकस 22:31-32) इब्रानियों के नाम पत्र हमें आश्वासन देता है कि येसु आज भी पिता के दाहिने विराजमान होकर हमारे लिए प्रार्थना करते हैं, ’’ईसा सदा बने रहते हैं,.....यही कारण है कि ....वे उनकी ओर से निवेदन करने के लिए सदा जीवित रहते हैं।’’(इब्रानियों 7:24-25) संत पौलुस भी इसी बात को समझाते हुए कहते हैं, ’’....ईसा मसीह...जी उठे और ईश्वर के दाहिने विराजमान हो कर हमारे लिए प्रार्थना करते रहते हैं।’’ (रोमियों 8:34)

येसु ने दूसरों के साथ भी प्रार्थना की। ’’ईसा पेत्रुस, योहन और याकूब को अपने साथ ले गये और प्रार्थना करने के लिए एक पहाड़ पर चढ़े।’’ (लूकस 9:28)

इसी प्रकार येसु को एकांत में भी प्रार्थना करने का महत्व मालूम था। ’’और वे अलग जा कर एकान्त स्थानों में प्रार्थना किया करते थे।’’ (लूकस 5:16) ’’ईसा किसी दिन एकान्त में प्रार्थना कर रहे थे और उनके शिष्य उनके साथ थे।’’(लूकस 9:18) ’’दूसरे दिन ईसा बहुत सबेरे उठ कर घर से निकले और किसी एकान्त स्थान जा कर प्रार्थना करते रहे।’’ (मारकुस 1:35)

येसु ने सार्वजनिक रूप से सबके सामने भी प्रार्थना की। संत योहन के सुसमाचार में येसु अपने पिता से ऐसी ही प्रार्थनायें करते हैं, ’’...ईसा ने आँखें उपर उठाकर कहा, ’’पिता! मैं तुझे धन्यवाद देता हूँ तूने मेरी सुन ली है। मैं जानता था कि तू सदा मेरी सुनता है। मैंने आसपास खडे लोगो के कारण ही ऐसा कहा, जिससे वे विश्वास करें कि तूने मुझे भेजा है।’’ (योहन 11:41-42) तथा “....क्या मैं यह कहूँ - ’पिता ! इस घडी के संकट से मुझे बचा’? किन्तु इसलिये तो मैं इस घडी तक आया हूँ। पिता! अपनी महिमा प्रकट कर। उसी समय यह स्वर्गवाणी सुनाई पडी, ’’मैने उसे प्रकट किया है और उसे फिर प्रकट करूँगा।“ आसपास खडे लोग यह सुनकर बोले, ’’बादल गरजा’’। (योहन 12:27-28)

येसु ने प्राकृतिक वातावरण में प्रार्थना की, ’’उन दिनों ईसा प्रार्थना करने एक पहाड़ी पर चढ़े और वे रात भर ईश्वर की प्रार्थना में लीन रहे। (लूकस 6:12) ’’ईसा लोगों को विदा कर पहाड़ी पर प्रार्थना करने गये।’’ (मारकुस 6:46)

येसु ने न सिर्फ प्रार्थना करना सिखाया बल्कि इसके प्रभाव, वास्तविकता एवं महत्व के बारे में भी सिखाया। ’’जो कुछ तुम विश्वास के साथ प्रार्थना में माँगोगे, वह तुम्हें मिल जायेगा।’’ (मत्ती 21:22) ’’....जो तुम पर अत्याचार करते हैं उनके लिए प्रार्थना करो।’’ (मत्ती 5:44) ’’जब तुम प्रार्थना के लिए खडे हो और तुम्हें किसी से कोई शिकायत हो, तो क्षमा कर दो, जिससे तुम्हारा स्वर्गिक पिता भी तुम्हारे अपराध क्षमा कर दे।’’ (मारकुस 11:25) प्रार्थना की विश्वसनीयता तथा पिता की वरदान देने की तत्परता को बताते हुये येसु ने कहा, ’’यदि तुम्हारा पुत्र तुम से रोटी माँगे, तो तुम में ऐसा कौन है, जो उसे पत्थर देगा? अथवा मछली माँगे, तो मछली के बदले उसे साँप देगा? अथवा अण्डा माँगे, तो उसे बिच्छू देगा? बुरे होने पर भी यदि तुम लोग अपने बच्चों को सहज ही अच्छी चीजें देते हो, तो तुम्हारा स्वर्गिक पिता माँगने वालों को पवित्र आत्मा क्यों नहीं देगा?’’ (लूकस 11:11-13) येसु ने स्वयं के नाम में भी विश्वास करना सिखलाया तथा बताया उनका नाम लेकर प्रार्थना करने से हमारी प्रार्थना पूर्ण होती है, ’’तुम मेरा नाम ले कर जो कुछ माँगोगे, मैं तुम्हें वही प्रदान करूँगा, जिससे पुत्र के द्वारा पिता की महिमा प्रकट हो। यदि तुम मेरा नाम लेकर मुझ से कुछ भी माँगोगें, तो मैं तुम्हें वही प्रदान करूँगा।’’ (योहन 14:13-14) तथा ’’उस दिन तुम मुझ से कोई प्रश्न नहीं करोगे। मैं तुम लोगों से यह कहता हूँ- तुम पिता से जो कुछ माँगोगे वह तुम्हें मेरे नाम पर वही प्रदान करेगा। अब तक तुमने मेरा नाम ले कर कुछ भी नहीं माँगा है। माँगो और तुम्हें मिल जायेगा, जिससे तुम्हारा आनन्द परिपूर्ण हो।’’ (योहन 16:23:24)

येसु ने अपने जीवन काल में निरंतर प्रार्थना की। येसु ने खाने के पहले अनेक बार प्रार्थना की। ’’उनके भोजन करते समय ईसा ने रोटी ले ली और धन्यवाद की प्रार्थना पढ़ने के बाद उसे तोड़ा और यह कहते हुए शिष्यों को दिया, ’’ले लो और खाओ, यह मेरा शरीर है।’’ (मत्ती 26:26) ’’ईसा ने....वे सात रोटियाँ ले कर धन्यवाद की प्रार्थना पढ़ी, और वे रोटियाँ तोड़-तोड़ कर शिष्यों को देते गये, ताकि वे लोगों को परोसते जायें।’’ (मारकुस 8:6) अपने पुनरूत्थान के बाद भी ईसा ने शिष्यों के साथ भोजन पूर्व प्रार्थना की, ’’ईसा ने उनके साथ भोजन पर बैठ कर रोटी ली, आशिष की प्रार्थना पढ़ी और उसे तोड़ कर उन्हें दे दिया।’’ (लूकस 24:30)

ईसा ने महत्वपूर्ण अवसरों जैसे बपतिस्मा, प्रेरितों के चयन, रूपान्तरण, तथा प्राणपीडा के पूर्व भी अपने पिता से प्रार्थना की। ईसा ने अपने बपतिस्मा के दौरान प्रार्थना की, ’’सारी जनता को बपतिस्मा मिल जाने के बाद ईसा ने भी बपतिस्मा ग्रहण किया। इसे ग्रहण करने के अनन्तर वह प्रार्थना कर ही रहे थे कि स्वर्ग खुल गया।’’ (लूकस 3:21) प्रेरितों के चयन के पूर्व भी उन्होंने यही किया, ’’उन दिनों ईसा प्रार्थना करने एक पहाड़ी पर चढ़े और वे रात भर ईश्वर की प्रार्थना में लीन रहे। दिन होने पर उन्होंने अपने शिष्यों को पास बुलाया और उन में से बारह को चुन कर उनका नाम ’प्रेरित’ रखा” (लूकस 6:12-13)। अपने रूपांतरण के पूर्व भी येसु अपने शिष्यों के साथ प्रार्थना में तल्लीन रहे, “’इन बातों के करीब आठ दिन बाद ईसा पेत्रुस, योहन और याकूब को अपने साथ ले गये और प्रार्थना करने के लिए एक पहाड़ पर चढ़े। प्रार्थना करते समय ईसा के मुखमण्डल का रूपान्तरण हो गया और उनके वस्त्र उज्जवल हो कर जगमगा उठे।’’ (लूकस 9:28-29)

अपने जीवन के कठिनत्तम समय में भी येसु विचलित नहीं हुए बल्कि बहुत वेदना एवं भीषण तनाव के बीच पिता से प्रार्थना की। ’’जब ईसा अपने शिष्यों के साथ गेथसेमनी नामक बारी पहँचे, तो वे उन से बोले, ’’तुम लोग यहाँ बैठे रहो। मैं तब तक वहाँ प्रार्थना करने जाता हूँ।’’.....वे कुछ आगे बढ़ कर मुहँ के बल गिर पडे और उन्होंने यह कहते हुए प्रार्थना की, ’’मेरे पिता! यदि हो सके, तो यह प्याला मुझ से टल जाये। फिर भी मेरी नही, बल्कि तेरी ही इच्छा पूरी हो।’’....वे फिर दूसरी बार गये और उन्होंने यह कहते हुए प्रार्थना की, ’’मेरे पिता! यदि यह प्याला मेरे पिये बिना नहीं टल सकता, तो तेरी ही इच्छा पूरी हो’’। लौटने पर उन्होंने अपने शिष्यों को फिर सोया हुआ पाया, क्योंकि उनकी आँखें भारी थीं। वे उन्हें छोड़ कर फिर गये और उन्हीं शब्दों को दोहराते हुए उन्होंने तीसरी बार प्रार्थना की।’’ (मत्ती 26:36-44)

येसु ने क्रूस पर भी प्रार्थना करना नहीं त्यागा और मरते समय तक उन्होंने, पापक्षमा, वेदना तथा समर्पण की प्रार्थना की। उन्होंने अपने शत्रुओं की क्षमा के लिए पिता से कहा, ’’पिता! इन्हें क्षमा कर, क्योंकि ये नहीं जानते कि क्या कर रहे हैं।’’ (लूकस 23:34) अपनी वेदना एवं पीडा को व्यक्त करते हुए वे प्रार्थना में कहते हैं, ’’एली! एली! लेमा सबाखतानी?’’ इसका अर्थ है-मेरे ईश्वर! मेरे ईश्वर! तूने मुझे क्यों त्याग दिया है?’’ (मत्ती 27:46) इसके पश्चात अपने जीवन के अंतिम क्षणों में उन्होंने समर्पण की प्रार्थना के साथ अपने प्राण त्याग दिये, ’’पिता! मैं अपनी आत्मा को तेरे हाथों सौंपता हूँ’’ (लूकस 23:46)

येसु के प्रार्थनामय जीवन का उद्देश्य था कि वे पिता के साथ एक बने रहें जिससे वे स्वयं के जीवन को पिता की इच्छानुसार ढाल सकें। जैसा कि इब्रानियों के नाम पत्र कहता है, ’’देख, मैं तेरी इच्छा पूरी करने आया हूँ।’’ यही उनके जीवन का एकमात्र उद्देश्य था। (इब्रानियों 10:9) पिता की इच्छा जानकर उसे पूरी करना भी आसान काम नहीं है। इसलिए येसु की प्रार्थना का लक्ष्य यह भी था कि वे पिता की इच्छा को पूरी करने का साहस एवं सामर्थ्य प्राप्त कर सकें। इसलिए येसु ने शिष्यों तथा अन्यों को भी प्रार्थना करना सिखलाया ताकि वे प्रलोभनों से बच कर अपनी जिम्मेदारियों को योग्य रीति से निभा सकें। येसु द्वारा दिये गये इस प्रशिक्षण का परिणाम हम प्रेरित चरित में देखते हैं जब शिष्यगण माता मरियम एवं अन्यों के साथ मिलकर प्रार्थना करते हैं। ’’प्रेरित जैतून नामक पहाड से येरुसालेम लौटे।....ये सब एक हृदय होकर नारियों, ईसा की माता मरियम तथा उनके भाइयों के साथ प्रार्थना में लगे रहते थे।’’ (प्रेरित-चरित 1:12,14) प्रेरित-चरित में हम अनेक स्थानों एवं अवसरों पर पाते हैं कि प्रेरितगण विश्वासी कलीसिया के साथ प्रार्थना करते हैं जिससे प्रेरित होकर वे निर्भीकता एवं साहस के साथ वचन की घोषणा करते तथा विश्वास का साक्ष्य देते हैं।

जब शिष्यों ने येसु से पूछा कि वे क्यों अपदूत को नहीं निकाल सके तो येसु ने कहा, ’’प्रार्थना और उपवास के सिवा और किसी उपाय से यह जाति नहीं निकाली जा सकती।’’ (मारकुस 9:29) येसु का उत्तर इस बात का प्रमाण है कि प्रार्थना के द्वारा कठिन से कठिन बाधा भी पार की जा सकती है। आइये हम भी प्रार्थना करें क्योंकि हमारे गुरू येसु ने भी यही उदाहरण हमारे सामने प्रस्तुत किया तथा यही हमारे लिए उनकी इच्छा भी है।

6 My days have passed more swiftly than the web is cut by the weaver, and are consumed without any hope.

7 Remember that my life is but wind, and my eyes shall not return to see good things.

पहला पाठ : इब्रानियों के नाम पत्र 13:15-17, 20-21

15) हम ईसा के द्वारा ईश्वर को स्तुति का बलिदान अर्थात् उसके नाम की महिमा करने वाले होंठों का फल-निरन्तर चढ़ाना चाहते हैं।

16) आप लोग परोपकार और एक दूसरे की सहायता करना कभी नहीं भूलें, क्योंकि इस प्रकार के बलिदान ईश्वर को प्रिय होते हैं

17) आपके नेताओं को दिन-रात आपकी आध्यात्मिक भलाई की चिन्ता रहती है, क्योंकि वे इसके लिए उत्तरदायी हैं। इसलिए आप लोग उनका आज्ञापालन करें और उनके अधीन रहें, जिससे वे अपना कर्तव्य आनन्द के साथ, न कि आहें भरते हुए, पूरा कर सकें; क्योंकि इस से आप को कोइ लाभ नहीं होगा।

20) शान्ति का ईश्वर जिसने शाश्वत विधान के रक्त द्वारा भेड़ों के महान् चरवाहे हमारे प्रभु ईसा को मृतकों में से पुनर्जीवित किया, आप लोगों को समस्त गुणों से सम्पन्न करे, जिससे आप उसकी इच्छा पूरी करें।

21) वह ईसा मसीह द्वारा हम में वह कर दिखाये, जो उसे प्रिय है। उन्हीं मसीह को अनन्त काल तक महिमा! आमेन!

सुसमाचार : सन्त मारकुस का सुसमाचार 6:30-34

30) प्रेरितो ने ईसा के पास लौट कर उन्हें बताया कि हम लोगों ने क्या-क्या किया और क्या-क्या सिखलाया है।

31) तब ईसा ने उन से कहा, ’’तुम लोग अकेले ही मेरे साथ निर्जन स्थान चले आओ और थोड़ा विश्राम कर लो’’; क्योंकि इतने लोग आया-जाया करते थे कि उन्हें भोजन करने की भी फुरसत नही रहती थी।

32) इस लिए वे नाव पर चढ़ कर अकेले ही निर्जन स्थान की ओर चल दिये।

33) उन्हें जाते देख कर बहुत-से लोग समझ गये कि वह कहाँ जा रहे हैं। वे नगर-नगर से निकल कर पैदल ही उधर दौड़ पड़े और उन से पहले ही वहाँ पहुँच गये।

34) ईसा ने नाव से उतर कर एक विशाल जनसमूह देखा। उन्हें उन लोगों पर तरस आया, क्योंकि वे बिना चरवाहे की भेड़ों की तरह थे और वह उन्हें बहुत-सी बातों की शिक्षा देने लगे।

📚 मनन-चिंतन

आज के सुसमाचार से हमें पता चलता है कि येसु आराम का मूल्य जानते थे । अपनी दिन भर की सेवकाई के बाद येसु अपने चेलों को एक एकांत स्थान ले गये ताकि वे थोड़ी देर आराम कर सकें। येसु और उसके चेलों के पास बहुत सारा काम था। वे चाहते तो चौबीस घंटे व्यस्त हो सकते थे। पर येसु और उनके शिष्यों ने हमेशा काम के बाद कुछ राहत का समय निकला ताकि वे प्रार्थना कर सके और आने वाले दिन के लिए तैयारी कर सके। येसु हमें सिखा रहे थे कि हमारे जीवन में काम से ज्यादा कुछ है। आराम का वह मूल्य बाइबल की उत्पत्ति के किताब के पहले अध्याय के पहले पेज में घोषित किया गया है, जिसके अनुसार ईश्वर छह दिनों तक सृष्टि के काम में लगे रहे और सातवें दिन आराम किया । ईश्वर के प्रतिरूप में सृजे इंसान को भी काम के समय काम और आराम के समय आराम करने की ज़रूरत है। आराम का समय चारों ओर देखने और ईश्वर के वरदानों के सराहना करने का अवसर है जो हमें ईश्वर ने दिया है; यह ईश्वर के कार्यों को अपने जीवन मे, दूसरों के जीवन में, और हमारी दुनिया में लेने का समय है। सुसमाचार में हम पढ़ते हैं, कि कभी - कभी जब येसु आराम करते थे और लोग उन्हें ढूंढते हुए आते थे तब येसु ने उन्हें डाँटकर भगाया नहीं पर बड़े अनुग्रह के साथ इसे समायोजित किया। कभी-कभी आराम करने की हमारी योजनाएं भी बाधित होती हैं और हमें समायोजित करना पड़ता है। आज की भागदौड़ की ज़िन्दगी में काम और कमाने के आलावा भी कुछ है। हम खुद के लिए, ईश्वर के लिए और अपनों के लिए खली समय निकालें।

📚 REFLECTION

The Gospel reading today suggests that Jesus knew the value of rest. After the disciples had engaged in a period of mission Jesus took them off to some lonely place so that they could rest for a while. There was plenty of work to be done. Jesus and his disciples could have been busy twenty four hours a day. Yet, every so often Jesus and his disciples stood back from their work. Jesus was teaching us that there is more to our lives than work. That value of rest is proclaimed in the very first page of the Bible, the first chapter of the Book of Genesis, according to which God rested on the seventh day having engaged in the work of creation for six days. As people made in God’s image, we need to rest as well as work. A time of rest is an opportunity to look around and appreciate what we have been given; it is a time to take in God’s work, in our own lives, in the lives of others, in our world. In the gospel reading, Jesus’ time of rest with his disciples was interrupted by people who sought him out, and Jesus adjusted to that with great grace. Sometimes our plans for times of rest will be interrupted too and we have to adjust. Yet, we continue to seek out times and places of rest in the course of our lives, times when we hand over the initiative to the Lord.
