First Reading: Second Samuel 7: 1-5, 8b-12, 14a, 16

1 And it came to pass when the king sat in his house, and the Lord had given him rest on every side from all his enemies,

2 He said to Nathan the prophet: Dost thou see that I dwell in a house of cedar, and the ark of God is lodged within skins?

3 And Nathan said to the king: Go, do all that is in thy heart: because the Lord is with thee.

4 But it came to pass that night, that the word of the Lord came to Nathan, saying:

5 Go, and say to my servant David: Thus saith the Lord: Shalt thou build me a house to dwell in?

8 And now thus shalt thou speak to my servant David: Thus saith the Lord of hosts: a I took thee out of the pastures from following the sheep to be ruler over my people Israel:

9 And I have been with thee wheresoever thou hast walked, and have slain all thy enemies from before thy face: and I have made thee a great man, like unto the name of the great ones that are on the earth.

10 And I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and I will plant them, and they shall dwell therein, and shall be disturbed no more: neither shall the children of iniquity afflict them any more as they did before,

11 From the day that I appointed judges over my people Israel: and I will give thee rest from all thy enemies. And the Lord foretelleth to thee, that the Lord will make thee a house.

12 And when thy days shall be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will raise up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.

14 I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son: and if he commit any iniquity, I will correct him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men.

16 And thy house shall be faithful, and thy kingdom for ever before thy face, and thy throne shall be firm for ever.

Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 89: 2-3, 4-5, 27, 29 (2a)

2 The mercies of the Lord I will sing for ever. I will shew forth thy truth with my mouth to generation and generation.

3 For thou hast said: Mercy shall be built up for ever in the heavens: thy truth shall be prepared in them.

4 I have made a covenant with my elect: I have sworn to David my servant:

5 Thy seed will I settle for ever. And I will build up thy throne unto generation and generation.

27 He shall cry out to me: Thou art my father: my God, and the support of my salvation.

29 I will keep my mercy for him for ever: and my covenant faithful to him.

27 To God the only wise, through Jesus Christ, to whom be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Gospel: Luke 1: 26-38

26 And in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God into a city of Galilee, called Nazareth,

27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.

28 And the angel being come in, said unto her: Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

29 Who having heard, was troubled at his saying, and thought with herself what manner of salutation this should be.

30 And the angel said to her: Fear not, Mary, for thou hast found grace with God.

31 Behold thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and shalt bring forth a son; and thou shalt call his name Jesus.

32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the most High; and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of David his father; and he shall reign in the house of Jacob for ever.

33 And of his kingdom there shall be no end.

34 And Mary said to the angel: How shall this be done, because I know not man?

35 And the angel answering, said to her: The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the most High shall overshadow thee. And therefore also the Holy which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

36 And behold thy cousin Elizabeth, she also hath conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her that is called barren:

37 Because no word shall be impossible with God.

38 And Mary said: Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it done to me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

वर्ष का तीसवाँ सामान्य सप्ताह, रविवार

📒 पहला पाठ: समुएल का दुसरा ग्रन्थ 7:1-5.8b-12.14a.16

1) जब दाऊद अपने महल में रहने लगा और प्रभु ने उसे उसके चारों ओर के सब शत्रुओं से छुड़ा दिया,

2) तो राजा ने नबीनातान से कहा, ‘‘देखिए, मैं तो देवदार के महल में रहता हूँ, किन्तु ईश्वर की मंजूषा तम्बू में रखी रहती है।’’

3) नातान ने राजा को यह उत्तर दिया, ‘‘आप जो करना चाहते हैं, कीजिए। प्रभु आपका साथ देगा।’’

4) उसी रात प्रभु की वाणी नातान को यह कहते हुए सुनाई पड़ी,

5) ‘‘मेरे सेवक दाऊद के पास जाकर कहो - प्रभु यह कहता है: क्या तुम मेरे लिए मन्दिर बनवाना चाहते हो?

तुम भेड़ें चराया करते थे और मैंने तुम्हें चरागाह से बुला कर अपनी प्रजा इस्राएल का शासक बनाया।

9) मैंने तुम्हारे सब कार्यों में तुम्हारा साथ दिया और तुम्हारे सामने तुम्हारे सब शत्रुओं का सर्वनाश कर दिया है। मैं तुम्हें संसार के सब से महान् पुरुषों-जैसी ख्याति प्रदान करूँगा।

10) मैं अपनी प्रजा इस्राएल के लिए भूमि का प्रबन्ध करूँगा और उसे बसाऊँगा। वह वहाँ सुरक्षित रहेगी। कुकर्मी उस पर अत्याचार नहीं कर पायेंगे। ऐसा पहले हुआ करता था,

11) जब मैंने अपनी प्रजा इस्राएल का शासन करने के लिए न्यायकर्ताओं को नियुक्त किया था। मैं उसे उसके सब शत्रुओं से छुड़ाऊँगा। प्रभु तुम्हारा वंश सुरक्षित रखेगा।

12) जब तुम्हारे दिन पूरे हो जायेंगे और तुम अपने पूर्वजों के साथ विश्राम करोगे, तो मैं तुम्हारे पुत्र को तुम्हारा उत्तराधिकारी बनाऊँगा और उसका राज्य बनाये रखूँगा।

14) मैं उसका पिता होऊँगा, और वह मेरा पुत्र होगा।

16) इस तरह तुम्हारा वंश और तुम्हारा राज्य मेरे सामने बना रहेगा और उसका सिंहासन अनन्त काल तक सुदृढ़ रहेगा।’’

📕 दूसरा पाठ : रोमियों के नाम सन्त पौलुस का पत्र 16:25-27

25 (25-26) सभी राष्ट्र विश्वास की अधीनता स्वीकार करें - उसी उद्देश्य से शाश्वत ईश्वर ने चाहा कि शताब्दियों से गुप्त रखा हुआ रहस्य प्रकट किया जाये और उसने आदेश दिया कि वह रहस्य नबियों के लेखों द्वारा सबों को बता दिया जाये। उसके अनुसार मैं ईसा मसीह का सुसमाचार में सुदृढ़ बना सकता है।

27) उसी एकमात्र सर्वज्ञ ईश्वर की, अनन्त काल तक, ईसा मसीह द्वारा महिमा हो! आमेन!

📙 सुसमाचार : सन्त लूकस 1:26-38

26) छठे महीने स्वर्गदूत गब्रिएल, ईश्वर की ओर से, गलीलिया के नाजरेत नामक नगर में एक कुँवारी के पास भेजा गया,

27) जिसकी मँगनी दाऊद के घराने के यूसुफ नामक पुरुष से हुई थी, और उस कुँवारी का नाम था मरियम।

29) वह इन शब्दों से घबरा गयी और मन में सोचती रही कि इस प्रणाम का अभिप्राय क्या है।

30) तब स्वर्गदूत ने उस से कहा, ’’मरियम! डरिए नहीं। आप को ईश्वर की कृपा प्राप्त है।

31) देखिए, आप गर्भवती होंगी, पुत्र प्रसव करेंगी और उनका नाम ईसा रखेंगी।

32) वे महान् होंगे और सर्वोच्च प्रभु के पुत्र कहलायेंगे। प्रभु-ईश्वर उन्हें उनके पिता दाऊद का सिंहासन प्रदान करेगा,

33) वे याकूब के घराने पर सदा-सर्वदा राज्य करेंगे और उनके राज्य का अन्त नहीं होगा।’’

34) पर मरियम ने स्वर्गदूत से कहा, ’’यह कैसे हो सकता है? मेरा तो पुरुष से संसर्ग नहीं है।’’

35) स्वर्गदूत ने उत्तर दिया, ’’पवित्र आत्मा आप पर उतरेगा और सर्वोच्च प्रभु की शक्ति की छाया आप पर पड़ेगी। इसलिए जो आप से उत्पन्न होंगे, वे पवित्र होंगे और ईश्वर के पुत्र कहलायेंगे।

36) देखिए, बुढ़ापे में आपकी कुटुम्बिनी एलीज़बेथ के भी पुत्र होने वाला है। अब उसका, जो बाँझ कहलाती थी, छठा महीना हो रहा है;

37) क्योंकि ईश्वर के लिए कुछ भी असम्भव नहीं है।’’

38) मरियम ने कहा, ’’देखिए, मैं प्रभु की दासी हूँ। आपका कथन मुझ में पूरा हो जाये।’’ और स्वर्गदूत उसके पास से चला गया।

📚 मनन-चिंतन

आज का सुसमाचार मसीह के आगमन का उद्घोष प्रस्तुत करता है। मरियम की सहमति पर, वचन का देहधारण संभव हुआ। मसीह के दुनिया में आगमन के द्वारा मानवजाति को बचाने के लिए ईश्वर की शानदार योजना मरियम के ’फियाट’ के साथ संभव हुआ। मरियम के “हाँ” कहने पर ही सबसे बड़ा चमत्कार संभव हो पाया – ईश्वर स्वर्ग से हमारी दुनिया में उतर कर आये। मरियम के ’हाँ’ को उनके जीवन में साकार किया गया जब उन्होंने ईश्वर के अनुग्रह के साथ काम किया। इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं है कि प्रभु हमारे हित की बहुत सी योजनाएं बनाते हैं जो हमारे सहयोग के साथ ही वे पूरा करना चाहते हैं। उन योजनाओं को साकार करने के लिए वे हमारी सहमति और सहयोग की प्रतीक्षा करते हैं। प्रकाशना 3:20 में हम पढ़ते हैं, “मैं द्वार के सामने खड़ा हो कर खटखटाता हूँ। यदि कोई मेरी वाणी सुन कर द्वार खोलेगा, तो मैं उसके यहाँ आ कर उसके साथ भोजन करूँगा और वह मेरे साथ।" बहुत बार हमारी इच्छाएँ ईश्वर की इच्छा से मेल नहीं खातीं। वे हमें विपरीत दिशाओं में खींच सकती हैं। ऐसी स्थितियों में हमें ईश्वर से प्रार्थना करनी पड़ सकती है कि वे हमें एक ऐसा दिल दें जो उनकी इच्छा को समझ सके और स्वीकार कर सके। प्रभु कहते हैं, “मैं तुम लोगों को एक नया हृदय दूँगा और तुम में एक नया आत्मा रख दूँगा। मैं तुम्हारे शरीर से पत्थर का हृदय निाकल कर तुम लोगों को रक्त-मांस का हृदय प्रदान करूँगा।" (एज़ेकिएल 36:26)।

📚 REFLECTION

Today’s Gospel presents the annunciation of the coming of Christ. At the consent of Mary, Jesus was conceived in her womb. God’s glorious plan to save humanity by the coming of Christ into the world was realised at the ‘fiat’ of Mary. Mary said YES to God and the greatest miracle was possible – God descending into our world. Mary’s yes was actualised in her life when she co-operated with the Grace of God working in her. No doubt, God has great plans to be carried out through us, but he awaits our consent and co-operation for the realisation of those plans. In Rev 3:20, we read, “Listen! I am standing at the door, knocking; if you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to you and eat with you, and you with me.” Very often our desires do not match with the will of God. They may pull us in opposite directions. In such situations we may have to pray to God to give us a heart that can understand and accept his will. The Lord says, “A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you; and I will remove from your body the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.” (Ezek 36:26).

मनन-चिंतन - 2

इस दुनिया में रहते समय हम सभी जाने-अनजाने में किसी न किसी व्यक्ति, वस्तु या घटना की प्रतीक्षा में सदा रहते हैं। यह प्रतीक्षा हम लोगों को जीवन में उत्साह के साथ-साथ आगे बढने के लिए प्रेरणादायक होती है। उदाहरण के लिए - हमारे अधिकांश बच्चे स्कूल में छुट्टी की प्रतीक्षा में रहते हैं। घर में जो महिलाएँ नियमित तौर पर टीवी में सीरियल देखती रहती हैं वे हर हफ्ते इस इंतज़ार में रहती हैं कि अगले हफ्ते सीरियल में क्या होगा। पुरुष-वर्ग इस ताक में हैं कि आगामी पार्टी कब होगी। ठीक इस प्रकार लोग किसी न किसी कार्य की प्रतीक्षा में रहते हैं।

हम आगमन काल में हैं और प्रभु येसु के जन्म-दिन के करीब आ चुके हैं। इसलिए हमें और गंभीरता से मनन-चिंतन करना चाहिए कि हमें बालक येसु के जन्म-दिन मनाने के लिए और क्या-क्या तैयारी करनी चाहिए और उनको उपहार के रुप में क्या देना चाहिए? जन्म-दिन मनाना हमारे लिए कुछ नयी बात नहीं है। हम सभी हमारा और हमारे साथ जुडे हुए सब लोगों का जन्म-दिन हर साल बराबर मनाते ही हैं। जब भी हम किसी का जन्मदिन मनाते हैं तो हम उनको उपहार खरीद के देते हैं। हम यह सुनिश्चित करते है कि जो उपहार उसे पसंद वहीं दिया जाये। ठीक वैसे ही येसु के जन्म-दिन मनाने की तैयारी में लगे रहकर हमारे लिए यह पता करना उचित होगा कि आखिर येसु के लिए मैं क्या दूँ? येसु का मनपंसद उपहार क्या है?

धर्मग्रन्थ के आधार पर देखा जाये तो यह स्पष्ट है कि येसु का मनपसंद उपहार हमारी आत्मा है। हॉ वे हमारी आत्मा के चरवाहा तथा रक्षक हैं। (1पेत्रुस 2:25) येसु ने लोगों से कहा कि आत्मा को जोखिम में डाल कर कभी भी जीना नहीं चाहिए -’’मनुष्य को इस से क्या लाभ यदि वह सारा संसार तो प्राप्त करले, लेकिन अपना जीवन ही गॅवा दे? अपने जीवन के बदले मनुष्य दे ही क्या सकता है?’’ (मारकुस 8:36-37)

येसु ने सारी मानवजाति की आत्माओं को बचाने का जो कार्य आरंभ किया, उस कार्य को उन्होंने प्रेरितों को सौंप दिया और प्रेरितों ने इस कार्य को गंभीरता से लेते हुए दुनिया के कोने-कोने में जा कर प्रचार किया और येसु के आध्यात्मिक सान्निध्य में वह कार्य आज भी जारी है।

प्रभु येसु हर हाल में हमारे जीवन में आकर अपने पवित्र सान्निध्य के द्वारा हमें पवित्र करते हुए हमारी आत्माओं को बचाना चाहते हैं। प्रकाशना ग्रन्थ में हम पढते हैं- मैं द्वार के सामने खड़ा हो कर खटखटाता हॅू। तो क्रिस्मस एक ऐसा अवसर है जब बालक येसु हम सभी के दिलों में आकर जन्म लेना चाहते हैं; चाहे हम पापी क्यों न हो, चाहे हम गरीब, अनपढ, नगण्य, तुच्छ क्यों न हो। याद रखें कि येसु के जन्म के अवसर पर चरवाहों को ही इस शुभ संदेश दिया गया था; चरणी में जानवरों के बीच में ही येसु का जन्म हुआ। इसलिए हम यह कह कर पीछे नहीं हट सकते हैं कि हम इस के काबिल नहीं। प्रभु का ये वचन इस चिंतन को और भी स्पष्ट करता है कि ”मैं धर्मियों को नहीं, पापियों को बुलाने आया हॅू।” (मत्ती 9:13)

एक समय संत पेत्रुस और संत पौलुस भी हमारे समान पापी थे। पेत्रुस ने येसु के चरणों में गिर कर कहा - प्रभु मेरे पास से चले जाइए। मैं पापी मनुष्य हॅू। (लूकस 5:8) और अपने बारे में पौलुस कहते हैं - येसु मसीह पापियों को बचाने के लिए संसार में आये, और उन में सर्व प्रथम मैं हॅू। (1तिमथी 1:15) इन दोनों ने बाद में येसु मसीह को उन के जीवन में जन्म लेने दिया। पेत्रुस कहते हैं कि - मेरे पास न तो चॉदी है और न सोना; लेकिन मेरे पास येसु है। (प्रेरित-चरित 3:6) इस प्रकार संत पौलुस कहते हैं कि अब मैं जीवित नहीं रहा, बल्कि मसीह मुझमें जीवित हैं। (गलाति 2:20) इसलिए हमारे पास अभी कोई भी बहाना नहीं रहा। हमारे जीवन की अवस्था जो कुछ भी हो, चरणी में जन्म लेने वाले येसु हमारे पाप भरे दिल में जन्म लेने के लिए सदा तैयार है।

हमें कभी भी यह न सोचना चाहिए कि हमारे जीवन को बदलना असंभव है। ईश्वर के लिए कुछ भी असंभव नहीं है। (लूकस 1:37) ”....क्या मेरा हाथ इतना छोटा हो गया है कि वह तुम्हारा उद्वार करने में असमर्थ है? क्या मेरे पास इतना सामर्थ्य नहीं कि मैं तुम को छुड़ा सकता? देखो! मैं धमकी दे कर समुद्र सुखाता हॅू। मैं नदियों को मरुभूमि बना देता हॅू...।’’ (इसायाह 50:2) हॉ, अगर ईश्वर चाहे तो कुवॉरी भी गर्भवती हो सकती है।

आइए हम भी चरवाहों एवं ज्योतिषियों के समान अपने पास जो कुछ भी है येसु के चरणों में अर्पित करें; माता मरियम के समान हम भी कहें ”देखिए, मैं प्रभु की दासी हॅू। तेरा कथन मुझमें पूरा हो जाये।” (लूकस 1:38); हमारी ”पॉच रोटियों और दो मछलियों को” उनके हाथों में दें; विशेष रूप से हमारी पापमय अवस्था को येसु को दें और कहें कि येसु हम अपने आपको पूर्ण रूप में तुझे समर्पित करते हैं।

याद रखें कि प्रभु के कहने पर अगर हम उन को हमारे दिल में जगह देगें तो बदले में वह हमें सबसे बडा उपहार जो अक्षय, अदूषित तथा अविनाशी है (1पेत्रुस 1:4) प्रदान करेंगे। वह उपहार है अनंत जीवन।

2 Now there was a certain man of Saraa, and of the race of Dan, whose name was Manue, and his wife was barren.

3 And an angel of the Lord appeared to her, and said: Thou art barren and without children: but thou shalt conceive and bear a son.

4 Now therefore beware and drink no wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing.

5 Because thou shalt conceive and bear a son, and no razor shall touch his head: for he shall be a Nazarite of God, from his infancy, and from his mother’s womb, and he shall begin to deliver Israel from the hands of the Philistines.

6 And when she was come to her husband she said to him: A man of God came to me, having the countenance of an angel, very awful. And when I asked him who he was, and whence he came, and by what name he was called, he would not tell me.

7 But he answered thus: Behold thou shalt conceive and bear a son: beware thou drink no wine, nor strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing: for the child shall be a Nazarite of God from his infancy, from his mother’s womb until the day of his death.

24 And she bore a son, and called his name Samson. And the child grew, and the Lord blessed him.

25 And the spirit of the Lord began to be with him in the camp of Dan, between Saraa and Esthaol.

Gospel: Luke 1: 5-25

5 There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zachary, of the course of Abia; and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name Elizabeth.

6 And they were both just before God, walking in all the commandments and justifications of the Lord without blame.

7 And they had no son, for that Elizabeth was barren, and they both were well advanced in years.

8 And it came to pass, when he executed the priestly function in the order of his course before God,

9 According to the custom of the priestly office, it was his lot to offer incense, going into the temple of the Lord.

10 And all the multitude of the people was praying without, at the hour of incense.

11 And there appeared to him an angel of the Lord, standing on the right side of the alter of incense.

12 And Zachary seeing him, was troubled, and fear fell upon him.

13 But the angel said to him: Fear not, Zachary, for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elizabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John:

14 And thou shalt have joy and gladness, and many shall rejoice in his nativity.

15 For he shall be great before the Lord; and shall drink no wine nor strong drink: and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother’s womb.

16 And he shall convert many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God.

17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias; that he may turn the hearts of the fathers unto the children, and the incredulous to the wisdom of the just, to prepare unto the Lord a perfect people.

18 And Zachary said to the angel: Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife is advanced in years.

19 And the angel answering, said to him: I am Gabriel, who stand before God: and am sent to speak to thee, and to bring thee these good tidings.

20 And behold, thou shalt be dumb, and shalt not be able to speak until the day wherein these things shall come to pass, because thou hast not believed my words, which shall be fulfilled in their time.

21 And the people were waiting for Zachary; and they wondered that he tarried so long in the temple.

22 And when he came out, he could not speak to them: and they understood that he had seen a vision in the temple. And he made signs to them, and remained dumb.

23 And it came to pass, after the days of his office were accomplished, he departed to his own house.

24 And after those days, Elizabeth his wife conceived, and hid herself five months, saying:

25 Thus hath the Lord dealt with me in the days wherein he hath had regard to take away my reproach among men.

आगमन का तीसरा सप्ताह, शनिवार

📒 पहला पाठ: न्यायकर्ताओं का ग्रन्थ 13:2-7.24-25a

2) सोरआ में दान वंश का मानोअह नामक मनुष्य रहता था। उसकी पत्नी बाँझ थी। उसके कभी सन्तान नहीं हुई थी।

3) प्रभु का दूत उसे दिखाई दिया और उस से यह बोला, ’’आप बाँझ हैं। आपके कभी सन्तान नहीं हुई। किन्तु अब आप गर्भवती होंगी और पुत्र प्रसव करेंगी।

4) आप सावधान रहें आप न तो अंगूरी या मदिरा पियें और न कोई अपवित्र वस्तु खायें;

5) क्योंकि आप गर्भवती होंगी और पुत्र प्रसव करेंगी। बालक के सिर पर उस्तरा नहीं चलाया जायेगा, क्योंकि वह अपनी माता के गर्भ से ईश्वर को समर्पित होगा। फ़िलिस्तियों के हाथों से इस्राएल का उद्धार उसी से प्रारम्भ होगा।’’

6) वह स्त्री अपने पति को यह बात बताते गयी। उसने कहा, ’’ईश्वर की ओर से एक पुरुष मेरे पास आया। उसका रूप स्वर्गदूत की तरह अत्यन्त प्रभावशाली था। मुझे उस से यह पूछने का साहस नहीं हुआ कि आप कहाँ से आ रहे हैं और उसने मुझे अपना नाम नहीं बताया।

7) उसने मुझ से यह कहा, ’आप गर्भवती होंगी और पुत्र प्रसव करेंगी। आप अब से न तो अंगूरी या मदिरा पियें और न कोई अपवित्र वस्तु खायें। बालक अपनी माता के गर्भ से अपनी मृत्यु के दिन तक ईश्वर को समर्पित होगा।‘‘

24) उस स्त्री ने पुत्र प्रसव किया और उसका नाम समसोन रखा। बालक बढ़ता गया और उसे प्रभु का आशीर्वाद मिलता रहा;

25) और प्रभु का आत्मा उसे प्रेरित करने लगा।

📙 सुसमाचार : सन्त लूकस 1:5-25

5) यहूदिया के राजा हेरोद के समय अबियस के दल का जकरियस नामक एक याजक था। उसकी पत्नी हारून वंश की थी और उसका नाम एलीज़बेथ था।

6) वे दोनों ईश्वर की दृष्टि में धार्मिक थे-वे प्रभु की सब आज्ञाओं और नियमों का निर्दोष अनुसरण करते थे।

7) उनके कोई सन्तान नहीं थी, क्योंकि एलीज़बेथ बाँझ थी और दोनों बूढ़े हो चले थे।

8) जकरियस नियुक्ति के क्रम से अपने दल के साथ याजक का कार्य कर रहा था।

9) किसी दिन याजकों की प्रथा के अनुसार उसके नाम

10) चिट्टी निकली कि वह प्रभु के मन्दिर में प्रवेश कर धूप जलाये।

11) धूप जलाने के समय सारी जनता बाहर प्रार्थना कर रही थी। उस समय प्रभु का दूत उसे धूप की वेदी की दायीं और दिखाई दिया।

12) जकरियस स्वर्गदूत को देख कर घबरा गया और भयभीत हो उठा;

13) परन्तु स्वर्गदूत ने उस से कहा, ’’जकरियस! डरिए नहीं। आपकी प्रार्थना सुनी गयी है-आपकी पत्नी एलीज़बेथ के एक पुत्र उत्पन्न होगा, आप उसका नाम योहन रखेंगे।

14) आप आनन्दित और उल्लसित हो उठेंगे और उसके जन्म पर बहुत-से लोग आनन्द मनायेंगे।

15) वह प्रभु की दृष्टि में महान् होगा, अंगूरी और मदिरा नहीं पियेगा, वह अपनी माता के गर्भ में ही पवित्र आत्मा से परिपूर्ण हो जायेगा

16) और इस्राएल के बहुत-से लोगों का मन उनके प्रभु-ईश्वर की ओर अभिमुख करेगा।

17) वह पिता और पुत्र का मेल कराने, स्वेच्छाचारियों को धर्मियों की सद्बुद्धि प्रदान करने और प्रभु के लिए एक सुयोग्य प्रजा तैयार करने के लिए एलियस के मनोभाव और सामर्थ्य से सम्पन्न प्रभु का अग्रदूत बनेगा।’’

18) जक़रियस ने स्वर्गदूत से कहा, ’’इस पर मैं कैसे विश्वास करूँ? क्योंकि मैं तो बूढ़ा हूँ और मेरी पत्नी बूढ़ी हो चली है।’’

19) स्वर्गदूत ने उसे उत्तर दिया, ’’मैं गब्रिएल हूँ-ईश्वर के सामने उपस्थित रहता हूँ। मैं आप से बातें करने और आप को यह शुभ समाचार सुनाने भेजा गया हूँ।

20) देखिए, जिस दिन तक ये बातें पूरी नहीं होंगी, उस दिन तक आप मौन रहेंगे और बोल नहीं सकेंगे; क्योंकि आपने मेरी बातों पर, जो अपने समय पर पूरी होंगी, विश्वास नहीं किया।’’

21) जनता जकरियस की बाट जोह रही थी और आश्चर्य कर रही थी कि वह मन्दिर में इतनी देर क्यों लगा रहा है।

22) बाहर निकलने पर जब वह उन से बोल नहीं सका, तो वे समझ गये कि उसे मन्दिर में कोई दिव्य दर्शन हुआ है। वह उन से इशारा करता जाता था, और गूंगा ही रह गया।

23) अपनी सेवा के दिन पूरे हो जाने पर वह अपने घर चला गया।

24) कुछ समय बाद उसकी पत्नी एलीज़बेथ गर्भवती हो गयी। उसने पाँच महीने तक अपने को यह कहते हुए छिपाये रखा,

25) ’’यह प्रभु का वरदान है। उसने समाज में मेरा कलंक दूर करने की कृपा की है।’’

📚 मनन-चिंतन

स्वर्गदूत ने ज़करियस से कहा, "मैं गब्रिएल हूँ- ईश्वर के सामने उपस्थित रहता हूँ। मैं आप से बातें करने और आप को यह शुभ समाचार सुनाने भेजा गया हूँ। देखिए, जिस दिन तक ये बातें पूरी नहीं होंगी, उस दिन तक आप मौन रहेंगे और बोल नहीं सकेंगे; क्योंकि आपने मेरी बातों पर, जो अपने समय पर पूरी होंगी, विश्वास नहीं किया।" (लूकस 1: 19-20) जो विश्वास नहीं करता, उसे बोलने का, प्रचार करने का कोई अधिकार नहीं है। जो विश्वास करता है उसे घोषणा करने से रोका नहीं जा सकता है। प्रेरित-चरित 5:27-29 में हम पढ़ते हैं कि सर्वोच्च यहूदी परिषद ने प्रेरितों को येसु के नाम पर न बोलने की चेतावनी दी थी। इसके बावजूद भी प्रेरितों ने सुसमाचार का प्रचार किया। मत्ती 9:27-31 में हम पाते हैं कि जब येसु ने चंगे किये गये दो दृष्टिहीनों से कहा कि वे दूसरों को उनके चमत्कार के बारे में न बोलें, तो वे चले गये और पूरे इलाके में येसु का नाम फैला दिया। यदि हममें से कई लोगों के लिए मसीह को दूसरों के बीच घोषित करना कठिन है, तो ऐसा इसलिए है कि हमारा विश्वास बहुत उथला और कमज़ोर है। अगर हमारा विश्वास मज़बूत है, तो किसी प्रोत्साहन या ज़बरदस्ती की ज़रूरत नहीं है, हम हर जगह उनका नाम घोषित करेंगे।

📚 REFLECTION

Angel Gabriel tells Zachariah, “I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news. But now, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their time, you will become mute, unable to speak, until the day these things occur.” (Lk 1:19-20) The one who does not believe has no right to speak, to proclaim. The one who believes cannot be prevented from proclaiming. In Acts 5:27-29 we read that the Supreme Jewish Council warned the apostles not to speak in the name of Jesus. In spite of that, the apostles went about preaching the Gospel. In Mat 9:27-31 we find that even when Jesus told the two blind men who were healed not to speak about their healing to others, they “went away and spread the news about him throughout that district”. If it is difficult for many of us to proclaim Christ among others, it is because our faith is very shallow. If our faith is strong then there is no need for any incentive or coercion, we shall proclaim his name everywhere.

आज के सुसमाचार में संत योहन बपतिस्ता के चमत्कारी गर्भाधान का वर्णन है। जब स्वर्गदूत गेब्रियल ने ज़करियस के सामने घोषणा की कि उनकी पत्नी एलिजबेथ गर्भ धारण करेगी और एक बेटे को जन्म देगी, तो उन्हें विश्वास नहीं हो रहा था। ऐसा लग रहा था कि यह असंभव है। स्वर्गदूत ने उसे बताया कि चूंकि उसे विश्वास नहीं हो रहा था, वह चुप रहेगा, और उसे तब तक बोलने की क्षमता नहीं होगी जब तक कि बच्चा पैदा नहीं हो जाता। जकरियस से नौ महीने के मौन की अपेक्षा की गयी क्योंकि उनका बेटा योहन, एलिजाबेथ के गर्भ के सन्नाटे में ईश्वर द्वारा गढ़ा जा रहा था। भजनकार इस प्रक्रिया को संदर्भित करता है। "जब मैं अदृश्य में बन रहा था, जब मैं गर्भ के अन्धकार में गढ़ा जा रहा था, तो तूने मेरी हड्डियों को बढ़ते देखा। तूने मेरे सब कर्मों को देखा।“ (स्तोत्र 139: 15-16)। जब प्रभु ईश्वर उनके बच्चे के निर्माण का यह गुप्त कार्य कर रहे थे, तो ज़करियस को मौन रह कर इस प्रक्रिया में साथ देना था ताकि वे अपने स्वयं के परिवार में तथा मानव इतिहास में प्रभु के अद्भुत कार्य के रहस्य को स्वीकार करने के योग्य बन सके। सुसमाचार–लेखक यह भी लिखता है कि एलिजबेथ पांच महीने तक एकांत में रही। उन पाँच महीनों के दौरान वह प्रभु के आश्चर्य को याद कर रही थी। सुसमाचार-लेखक के अनुसार, वह कहती रही, "यह प्रभु का वरदान है। उसने समाज में मेरा कलंक दूर करने की कृपा की है" (लूकस 1:25)। क्या यह देखना अद्भुत नहीं है कि उनके बीच प्रभु के कार्य के रहस्य स्वीकार करने के लिए पूरा परिवार कैसे इंतजार करता रहा। हमारे जीवन में भी प्रभु ईश्वर महान चमत्कारिक कार्य करते हैं। हमें भी चाहिए कि भाग-दौड़ की इस दुनिया में मौन साध कर उन रहस्यों को ग्रहण करें।

REFLECTION

In the Gospel we have the description of the miraculous conception of John the Baptist. When Angel Gabriel announced to Zachariah that his wife Elizabeth would conceive and bear a son for him, he could not believe it. It seemed like something impossible. The angel told him that since he did not believe it he would remain silent as he would have no power of speech until the child is born. Nine months of silence are prescribed for Zachariah as his son John was getting formed by God in the silence of the womb of Elizabeth. The Psalmist refers to this process. “My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth” (Ps 139:15). When God was doing this secret work of forming the child, Zachariah was to accompany the process in silence to be able to accept the mystery of God’s marvelous work in human history, in his own family. The Evangelist also records that Elizabeth remained in seclusion for five months. During those five months he was relishing the wonder of the Lord. According to the Evangelist, she kept saying, “This is what the Lord has done for me when he looked favorably on me and took away the disgrace I have endured among my people” (Lk 1:25). Isn’t this wonderful to see how the whole family waited on the mystery of the Lord’s work among them. In our own lives, the Lord is doing great things; we need to keep silence and experience such great mysteries.

📒 पहला पाठ:यिरमियाह का ग्रन्थ 23:5-8

5) प्रभु यह कहता है: “वे दिन आ रहे हैं, जब मैं दाऊद के लिए एक न्यायी वंशज उत्पन्न करूँगा। वह राजा बन कर बुद्धिमानी से शासन करेगा और अपने देश में न्याय और धार्मिकता स्थापित करेगा।

6) उसके राज्यकाल में यूदा का उद्धार होगा और इस्राएल सुरक्षित रहेगा और उसका यह नाम रखा जायेगा- प्रभु ही हमारी धार्मिकता है।“

7) यह प्रभु का कहना है, “वह समय आ रहा है, जब लोग फिर यह नहीं कहेंगे, ’प्रभु के अस्तित्व की शपथ! वह इस्राएलियों को मिस्र देश से निकाल लाया है।’

8) वे यह कहेंगे, ’प्रभु के अस्तित्व की शपथ! वह इस्राएल के वंशजों को उत्तरी देश से और उन सब देशों से वापस बुला कर लाया है, जहाँ उसने उन्हें बिखेर दिया था।’ वे फिर अपनी ही भूमि में बस जायेंगे।“

📙 सुसमाचार : सन्त मत्ती 1:18-24

(18) ईसा मसीह का जन्म इस प्रकार हुआ। उनकी माता मरियम की मँगनी यूसुफ से हुई थी, परंतु ऐसा हुआ कि उनके एक साथ रहने से पहले ही मरियम पवित्र आत्मा से गर्भवती हो गयी।

(19) उसका पति यूसुफ चुपके से उसका परित्याग करने की सोच रहा था, क्योंकि वह धर्मी था और मरियम को बदनाम नहीं करना चाहता था।

(20) वह इस पर विचार कर ही रहा था कि उसे स्वप्न में प्रभु का दूत यह कहते दिखाई दिया, ’’यूसुफ! दाऊद की संतान! अपनी पत्नी मरियम को अपने यहाँ लाने में नहीं डरे,क्योंकि उनके जो गर्भ है, वह पवित्र आत्मा से है।

(21) वे पुत्र प्रसव करेंगी और आप उसका नाम ईसा रखेंगें, क्योंकि वे अपने लोगों को उनके पापों से मुक्त करेगा।’’

(22) यह सब इसलिए हुआ कि नबी के मुख से प्रभु ने जो कहा था, वह पूरा हो जाये -

(23) देखो, एक कुँवारी गर्भवती होगी और पुत्र प्रसव करेगी, और उसका नाम एम्मानुएल रखा जायेगा, जिसका अर्थ हैः ईश्वर हमारे साथ है।

(24) यूसुफ नींद से उठ कर प्रभु के दूत की आज्ञानुसार अपनी पत्नी को अपने यहाँ ले आया।

📚 मनन-चिंतन

संत मत्ती के सुसमाचार में प्रभु येसु के जन्म का विवरण संत यूसुफ़ के दृष्टिकोण से लिखा गया है जबकि संत लूकस के सुसमाचार में यह माता मरियम के दृष्टिकोण से लिखा गया है। संत यूसुफ़ संकट और संघर्ष की बहुत कठिन मानवीय स्थिति से गुजरते हैं। ईश्वर ने अपने स्वर्गदूत के माध्यम से उन कठिन क्षणों में सही निर्णय लेने और ईश्वर से प्राप्त ज्ञान के अनुसार कार्य करने में उनकी सहायता की। संत यूसुफ़ अपनी पत्नी के प्रति उदार मनोभाव रखते थे और उसी प्रकार माता मरियम भी संत यूसुफ़ के प्रति अच्छा मनोभाव रखती थी। दोनों में एक विशेष समानता थी - उनका प्रभु पर भरोसा। प्रभु ने उनकी कठिन परिस्थितियों में उनका मार्गदर्शन किया। स्तोत्रकार कहता है, “मैंने अपने संकट में प्रभु को पुकारा, मैंने अपने ईश्वर की दुहाई दी। उसने अपने मन्दिर में मेरी वाणी सुनी, मेरी दुहाई उसके कान तक पहुँची।” (स्तोत्र 18:7)। प्रभु ईश्वर सपनों के माध्यम से संत यूसुफ़ को मार्गदर्शन देते थे। यह कहा जा सकता है कि यद्यपि वे कई समस्याओं से गुजरे, फिर भी उन्होंने एक आंतरिक शांति का आनंद लिया और वे प्रभु येसु की तरह ईश्वर पर भरोसा रख कर सो सकते थे जो तूफान के बीच भी नाव में सो रहे थे। प्रभु ईश्वर ने उन्हें सपनों के माध्यम से दिशानिर्देश दिया और उन्होंने ईश्वर की आज्ञाओं का पालन किया। इसी बात से प्रभावित होकर बहुत से लोगों के बीच "सोनेवाले संत यूसुफ़" की भक्ति को बढ़ावा मिला है। हमारी समस्याओं के बीच में, आइए हम प्रभु पर भरोसा करना सीखें।

📚 REFLECTION

St. Matthew’s account of the birth of Jesus was written from the perspective of St. Joseph, the foster father of Jesus while the Lucan account is written from the perspective of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus. St. Joseph goes through a very difficult human situation of confusion and struggle. God through his angel assisted St. Joseph in those difficult moments to take the right decisions and act according to God-given wisdom. St. Joseph had good will towards his wife and our Lady too had good will towards St. Joseph. Both of them had something in common – their trust in the Lord. The Lord guided them through their difficult situations. The psalmist says, “In my distress I called upon the Lord; to my God I cried for help. From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears” (Ps 18:6). St. Joseph received divine communication through dreams. It can be said that although he went through many problems, he enjoyed an inner peace and could sleep like Jesus who slept in the boat even in the midst of a storm. God gave him directions through his dreams and he obeyed God. This has encouraged many people to develop a devotion to “the sleeping St. Joseph”. Even in the midst of our problems, let us learn to trust in the Lord.

सन 2015 में फिलीपींस की अपनी यात्रा के दौरान पोप फ्रांसिस ने सोते हुए संत यूसुफ के बारे में बात की थी। संत पापा ने कहा कि उनके डेस्क पर सोते हुए संत यूसुफ की एक मूर्ति है। उन्होंने कहा कि सोते समय संत यूसुफ कलीसिया की देखभाल करते हैं। पोप ने बताया कि जब भी उन्हें कोई समस्या या कठिनाई होती है, तो वे उसे कागज के एक टुकड़े पर लिखते हैं और उसे सोते हुए संत यूसुफ की मूर्ति के नीचे रख देते हैं ताकि वे उसके बारे में सपने देख सकें। यानि पोप उन समस्याओं के समाधान के लिए संत यूसुफ की मदद माँगते हैं।

संत मत्ती के सुसमाचार में येसु की शैशवावस्था, येसु के पालक पिता जोसेफ के दृष्टिकोण से प्रस्तुत की गई है, जबकि संत लूकस के सुसमाचार में यह माता मरियम के दृष्टिकोण से प्रस्तुत की गयी है। यूसुफ एक साधारण बढ़ई था। वे अपने परिवार की चिंताओं को लेकर सोने जाते थे। सुसमाचार में आज हम देखते हैं कि कैसे प्रभु का दूत सपने में संत यूसुफ के सामने आया था ताकि वह उन्हें उनकी समस्या को दूर करने का साहस दे सके। संत यूसुफ गहरे विश्वास और महान विनम्रता के व्यक्ति थे। उन्होंने अपनी समस्याओं के लिए ईश्वर से स्पष्टीकरण और समाधान प्राप्त किया। जब वे नींद से उठे तो उन्होंने अपने सपने में प्राप्त आत्मज्ञान पर कार्रवाई की। स्तोत्रकार कहता है, “तुम प्रभु पर अपना भार छोड़ दो, वह तुम को संभालेगा। वह धर्मी को विचलित नहीं होने देगा।” (स्तोत्र 55:23)।

REFLECTION

Pope Francis during his visit to Philippines in 2015 spoke about the Sleeping Saint Joseph. Pope revealed that he had a statue of the Sleeping Saint Joseph on his desk. The Pope said that while sleeping St. Joseph looks after the Church. He also confided that whenever he had a problem or difficulty, he would write it on a piece of paper and place it under the statue of the Sleeping Saint Joseph “so that he can dream about it”. In other words, this is how the Pope would ask St. Joseph to intervene in times of difficulties and problems.

The infancy narrative of the Gospel of Mathew is presented from the perspective of Joseph, the foster father of Jesus, in contrast to the infancy narrative of the Gospel of Luke written from the perspective of Mary, the mother of Jesus. Joseph was an ordinary carpenter. He went to sleep with the worries of his family. In the Gospel today we see how the angel of the Lord appeared to St. Joseph to give him courage to overcome the problems, he had been facing. St. Joseph was a man of deep faith and great humility. He got clarification and solution from God for his problems. When he got up from sleep he acted on the enlightenment he received in his dream. The Psalmist says, “Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved” (Ps 55:22).
