1 Now there was a man that dwelt in Babylon, and his name was Joakim:

2 And he took a wife whose name was Susanna, the daughter of Helcias, a very beautiful woman, and one that feared God.

3 For her parents being just, had instructed their daughter according to the law of Moses.

4 Now Joakim was very rich, and had an orchard near his house: and the Jews resorted to him, because he was the most honourable of them all.

5 And there were two of the ancients of the people appointed judges that year, of whom the Lord said: Iniquity came out from Babylon from the ancient judges, that seemed to govern the people.

6 These men frequented the house of Joakim, and all that had any matters of judgment came to them.

7 And when the people departed away at noon, Susanna went in, and walked in her husband’ s orchard.

8 And the old men saw her going in every day, and walking: and they were inflamed with lust towards her:

9 And they perverted their own mind and turned away their eyes that they might not look unto heaven, nor remember just judgments.

15 And it fell out, as they watched a fit day, she went in on a time, as yesterday and the day before, with two maids only, and was desirous to wash herself in the orchard: for it was hot weather.

16 And there was nobody there, but the two old men that had hid themselves and were beholding her.

17 So she said to the maids: Bring me oil, and washing balls, and shut the doors of the orchard, that I may wash me.

19 Now when the maids were gone forth, the two elders arose, and ran to her, and said:

20 Behold the doors of the orchard are shut, and nobody seeth us, and we are in love with thee: wherefore consent to us, and lie with us.

21 But if thou wilt not, we will bear witness against thee, that a young man was with thee, and therefore thou didst send away thy maids from thee.

22 Susanna sighed, and said: I am straitened on every side: for if I do this thing, it is death to me: and if I do it not, I shall not escape your hands.

23 But it is better for me to fall into your hands without doing it, than to sin in the sight of the Lord.

24 With that Susanna cried out with a loud voice: and the elders also cried out against her.

25 And one of them ran to the door of the orchard, and opened it.

26 So when the servants of the house heard the cry in the orchard, they rushed in by the back door to see what was the matter.

27 But after the old men had spoken, the servants were greatly ashamed: for never had there been any such word said of Susanna. And on the next day,

28 When the people were come to Joakim her husband, the two elders also came full of wicked device against Susanna, to put her to death.

29 And they said before the people: Send to Susanna daughter of Helcias the wife of Joakim. And presently they sent.

30 And she came with her parents, and children, and all her kindred.

33 Therefore her friends and all her acquaintance wept.

34 But the two elders rising up in the midst of the people, laid their hands upon her head.

35 And she weeping looked up to heaven, for her heart had confidence in the Lord.

36 And the elders said: As we walked in the orchard alone, this woman came in with two maids, and shut the doors of the orchard, and sent away the maids from her.

37 Then a young man that was there hid came to her, and lay with her.

38 But we that were in a corner of the orchard, seeing this wickedness, ran up to them, and we saw them lie together.

39 And him indeed we could not take, because he was stronger than us, and opening the doors he leaped out:

40 But having taken this woman, we asked who the young man was, but she would not tell us: of this thing we are witnesses.

41 The multitude believed them as being the elders and the judges of the people, and they condemned her to death.

42 Then Susanna cried out with a loud voice, and said: O eternal God, who knowest hidden things, who knowest all things before they come to pass,

43 Thou knowest that they have borne false witness against me: and behold I must die, whereas I have done none of these things, which these men have maliciously forged against me.

44 And the Lord heard her voice.

45 And when she was led to be put to death, the Lord raised up the holy spirit of a young boy, whose name was Daniel.

46 And he cried out with a loud voice I am clear from the blood of this woman.

47 Then all the people turning themselves towards him, said: What meaneth this word that thou hast spoken?

48 But he standing in the midst of them, said: Are ye so foolish, ye children of Israel, that without examination or knowledge of the truth, you have condemned a daughter of Israel?

49 Return to judgment, for they have borne false witness against her.

50 So all the people turned again in haste, and the old men said to him: Come, and sit thou down among us, and shew it us: seeing God hath given thee the honour of old age.

51 And Daniel said to the people: Separate these two far from one another, and I will examine them.

52 So when they were put asunder one from the other, he called one of them, and said to him: O thou that art grown old in evil days, now are thy sins come out, which thou hast committed before:

53 In judging unjust judgments, oppressing the innocent, and letting the guilty to go free, whereas the Lord saith: The innocent and the just thou shalt not kill.

54 Now then, if thou sawest her, tell me under what tree thou sawest them conversing together. He said: Under a mastic tree.

55 And Daniel said: Well hast thou lied against thy own head: for behold the angel of God having received the sentence of him, shall cut thee in two.

56 And having put him aside, he commanded that the other should come, and he said to him: O thou seed of Chanaan, and not of Juda, beauty hath deceived thee, and lust hath perverted thy heart:

57 Thus did you do to the daughters of Israel, and they for fear conversed with you: but a daughter of Juda would not abide your wickedness.

58 Now therefore tell me, under what tree didst thou take them conversing together. And he answered: Under a holm tree.

59 And Daniel said to him: Well hast thou also lied against thy own head: for the angel of the Lord waiteth with a sword to cut thee in two, and to destroy you.

60 With that all the assembly cried out with a loud voice, and they blessed God, who saveth them that trust in him.

61 And they rose up against the two elders, (for Daniel had convicted them of false witness by their own mouth,) and they did to them as they had maliciously dealt against their neighbour,

62 To fulfill the law of Moses: and they put them to death, and innocent blood was saved in that day.

11 As I live, saith the Lord God, I desire not the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way, and live.

Gospel: John 8: 1-11

1 And Jesus went unto mount Olivet.

2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came to him, and sitting down he taught them.

3 And the scribes and the Pharisees bring unto him a woman taken in adultery: and they set her in the midst,

4 And said to him: Master, this woman was even now taken in adultery.

5 Now Moses in the law commanded us to stone such a one. But what sayest thou?

6 And this they said tempting him, that they might accuse him. But Jesus bowing himself down, wrote with his finger on the ground.

7 When therefore they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said to them: He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

8 And again stooping down, he wrote on the ground.

9 But they hearing this, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest. And Jesus alone remained, and the woman standing in the midst.

10 Then Jesus lifting up himself, said to her: Woman, where are they that accused thee? Hath no man condemned thee?

11 Who said: No man, Lord. And Jesus said: Neither will I condemn thee. Go, and now sin no more.

चालीसे का पांचवां सप्ताह

पहला पाठ :दानिएल का ग्रन्थ 13:1-9,15-17,19-30, 33-62

1) योआकिम नामक व्यक्ति बाबुल का निवासी था।

2) उसका विवाह हिलकीया की पुत्री सुसन्ना से हुआ था।

3) वह अत्यन्त सुन्दर और प्रभु-भक्त थी, क्योंकि उसके माता-पिता धार्मिक थे और उन्होंने अपनी पुत्री को मूसा की संहिता के अनुसार पढाया-लिखाया था।

4) योआकिम बहुत धनी था और उसके घर से लगी हुई एक सुन्दर वाटिका थी। यहूदी उसके यहाँ आया-जाया करते थे, क्योंकि वह उन में सब से अधिक प्रतिष्ठित था।

5) उस वर्ष लोगों ने जनता में से दो नेताओं को न्यायकर्ताओं के रूप में नियुक्त किया था। उनके विषय में प्रभु ने कहा था, ’’बाबुल में अधर्म उन नेताओं से प्रारभ हुआ, जो न्यायकर्ता थे और जनता का शासन करने का ढोंग रचते थे’’।

6) वे योआकिम के यहाँ आया करते थे और जिनका कोई मुकदमा रहता, वे सब उनके पास आते थे।

7) जब दोपहर के समय लोग चले जाते, तो सुसन्ना अपने पति की वाटिका में टहलने आया करती थीं।

8) दोनों नेता उसे प्रतिदिन वाटिका में जाते और टहलते देखते थे और उन में सुसन्ना के लिए प्रबल काम-वासना उत्पन्न हुई।

9) उनका मन इतना विकृत हो गया कि उन्होंने स्वर्ग की ओर नहीं देखा और नैतिकता के नियम भुला दिये।

15) वे उपयुक्त अवसर की ताक में ही थे कि सुसन्ना दो नौकनारियों के साथ अपनी आदत के अनुसार वाटिका में घुस गयी।

16) उस दिन बहुत गरमी थी, इसलिए वह स्नान करना चाहती थी। उन दोनों नेताओं को छोड़कर, जो छिप कर उसे ताक रहे थे, वहाँ कोई नहीं था।

17) उसने अपनी नौकरानियों से कहा, ’’जा कर तेल और महरम ले आओ और वाटिका का फाटक बन्द कर दो, जिससे मैं स्नान कर सकूँ’’।

19) नौकरानियाँ बाहर गयी ही थी कि दोनों नेता उठ कर सुसन्ना के पास दौडते हुए आये और उस से बोले,

20) ’’देखो, वाटिका का फाटक बन्द है, कोई भी हमें नहीं देखता। हम तुम पर आसक्त हैं।

21) हमारे साथ रमण करना स्वीकार करो, नहीं तो हम तुम्हारे विरुद्ध यह साक्य देंगे कि कोई युवक तुम्हारे साथ था और इसलिए तुमने अपनी नौकरानियों को बाहर भेज दिया।’’

22) सुसन्ना ने आह भर कर, ’’मुझे कोई रास्ता नहीं दिखता। यदि मैं ऐसा करूँगी, तो प्राणदण्ड के योग्य हो जाऊँगी। यदि मैं ऐसा नहीं करूँगी, तो आपके हाथों से नहीं बच पाऊँगी।

23) फिर भी प्रभु के सामने पाप करने की उपेक्षा निर्दोष ही आपके हाथ पड जाना मेरे लिए अच्छा है।’’

24) इस पर सुसन्ना ऊँचे स्वर से चिल्लाने लगी;

25) किन्तु दोनों नेता उसके विरुद्ध चिल्लाने लगे और उन में से एक ने दौड कर वाटिका का फाटक खोल दिया।

26) जब घर के लोगों ने वाटिका में चिल्लाने की आवाज सुनी, तो यह देखने के लिए कि सुसन्ना को क्या हुआ, वे दौडते हुए आये और पाश्र्व फाटक से वाटिका में प्रवेश कर गये।

27) जब नेताओं ने अपना बयान दिया, तो नौकरों को बडा धक्का लग गया; क्योंकि सुसन्ना पर इस प्रकार का अभियोग कभी नहीं लगाया गया था।

28) दूसरे दिन, जब जनता उसके पति योआकिम के यहाँ एकत्र हो गयी थी, तो वे दुष्ट नेता सुसन्ना को प्राणदण्ड दिलाने का षड्यंत्र रच कर आ पहुँचे।

29) उन्होंने जनता के सामने कहा, ’हिलकीया की पुत्री, योआकिम की पत्नी, सुसन्ना को बुला भेजो’’। लोगों ने उसे बुला भेजा।

30) वह अपने माता-पिता, अपने बच्चों और अपने सब कुटुम्बियों के साथ आयी।

33) उसके सन्बन्धी और जितने भी लोग उसे देखते थे, वे सब-के-सब के रोते थे।

34) उन दो नेताओं ने सभा में खडे हो कर उसके सिर पर अपने हाथ रख दिये।

35) वह रोती हुई स्वर्ग की और देखती रही; क्योंकि उसका हृदय ईश्वर पर भरोसा रखता था।

36) नेताओं ने यह कहा, ’’जब हम अकेले वाटिका में टहल रह थे, तो यह दो नौकरानियों के साथ वाटिका में आयी। इसने वाटिका को फाटक बन्द करा दिया और नौकरानियों को बाहर भेजा।

37) तब एक युवक, जो छिपा हुआ था, पास आ कर इसके साथ लेट गया।

38) हम वाटिका के एक कोने से यह पाप देखकर दौडते हुए उनके पास आये और हमने दोंनों को रमण करते देखा।

39) हम उस युवक को नहीं पकड़ पाये; क्योंकि वह हम से बलवान था और वाटिका का फाटक खोल कर भाग गया।

40) हमने इसे पकड़ लिया और पूछा कि वह कौन है, किन्तु इसने उसका नाम बताना अस्वीकार किया।

41) हम इन बातों के साक्षी हैं।’’ सभा ने उन पर विश्वास किया, क्योंकि वे नेता और न्यायकर्ता थे। लोगों ने सुसन्ना को प्राणदण्ड की आज्ञा दी।

42) इस पर सुसन्ना ने ऊँचे स्वर से पुकार कर कहा,

43) ’’शाश्वत ईश्वर! तू सब रहस्य और भविय में होने वाली घटनाएँ जानता है। तू जानता है कि इन्होंने मेरे विरुद्ध झूठी गवहाी दी है। इन्होंने जिन बुरी बातों का अभियोग मुझ पर लगाया है, मैंने उन में से एक भी नहीं किया- फिर भी मुझे मरना होगा।’’

44) ईश्वन ने उसकी सुन ली। जब लोग उसे प्राणदण्ड के लिए ले जा रहे थे,

45) तो ईश्वर ने दानिएल नामक युवक में एक दिव्य प्रेरणा उत्पन्न की।

46) वह पुकार कर कहने लगा, ’’मैं इसके रक्त का दोषी नहीं हूँ’’।

47) इस पर सब लोग उसकी ओर देखने लगा और बोले, ’’तुमहारे कहने का अभिप्राय क्या है?’’

48) उसने उन में खडा हो कर कहा, ’’ इस्राएलियों! आप लोगों की बुद्धि कहाँ है, जो आप जाँच और पूरी जानकारी के बिना इस्राएल की पुत्री को प्राणदण्ड देते हैं?

49) आप न्यायालय लौट जायें, क्योंकि इन्होंने इसके विरुद्ध झूठी गवाही दी है।’’

50) इस पर लोग तुरन्त लौट गये और नेताओं ने दानिएल से कहा, ’’आइए, हमारे बीच बैठिए और हमें अपनी बात बताइए; क्योंकि ईश्वर ने आप को नेताओं-जैसा अधिकार प्रदान किया है’’।

51) दानिएल ने उन से कहा, ’’इन दोनों को एक दूसरे से अलग कर दीजिए और मैं इन से पूछताछ करूँगा’’।

52) जब दोनों को अलग कर दिया गया, तो दानिएल ने एक को बुला कर उस से कहा,

53) ’’अधर्म करते-करते तेरे बाल पक गये हैं। अब तुझे अपने पुराने पापों का दण्ड मिलने वाला है। तू निर्दोषों को दण्ड दे कर और दोशियों को निर्दोष ठहरा कर अन्यायपूर्वक विचार किया करता था, जब कि प्रभु ने कहा है- तुम निर्दोष और धर्मी को प्राणदण्ड नहीं दोंगे। अब यदि तूने इसे देखा

54) तो हमें बता कि तूने किस वृक्ष के नीचे दोनों को एक साथ देखा’’। उसने उत्तर दिया, ’’बाबुल के नीचे’’।

55) दानिएल ने कहा, ’’इतना बडा झूठ बोल कर तूने अपना सिर गँवा दिया है! ईश्वर के दूत को ईश्वर से यह आदेश मिल चुका है कि वत तुझे दो टुकड़े कर दे’’।

56) दानिएल ने उसे ले जाने की आज्ञा दे कर दूसरे को बुला भेजा और उस से कहा,

57) ’’तू यूदा का नहीं, कनान की सन्तान है। सौदर्य ने तुझे पथभ्रष्ट किया आर वासना ने तरा हृदय दूशित कर दिया है। तुम लोग इस्राएल की पुत्रियों के साथ इस प्रकार का व्यवहार करते थे और वे डर के मारे तुम्हारा अनुरोध स्वीकार करती थी। किन्तु यह यूदा की पुत्री है, जो तुम्हारे अधर्म के सामने नहीं झुकी है।

58) तो, मुझे बता- तूने किस वृक्ष के नीचे दोनों को साथ देखा?’’ उसने उत्तर दिया, ’’बलूत के नीचे’’।

59) इस पर दानिएल ने कहा, ’’तूने भी इतना बडा झूठ बोलकर अपना जीवन गँवा दिया है! ईश्वर का दूत हाथ में तलवार लिये, प्रतीक्षा कर रहा है। वह तुझे दो-टुकडे कर देगा और तुम दोंनों का सर्वनाश करेगा।’’

60) तब समस्त सभा ऊँचे स्वर से जयकार करते हुए ईश्वर की स्तुति करने लगी, जो अपने पर भरोसा रखने वालों की रक्षा करता है।

61) दानिएल ने उनके अपने शब्दों द्वारा दोनों नेताओं की गवाही असत्य प्रमाणित की थी, इसलिए लोग उन पर टूट पड़े और

62) उन्हौंने मूसा की संहिता के अनुसार उन दुष्टों को वह दण्ड दिया, जिसे वे अपने पड़ोसी को दिलाना चाहते थे और लोगों ने दोनों का वध कर डाला। इस प्रकार उस दिन एक निर्दोष महिला की जीवन-रक्षा हुई।

सुसमाचार : सन्त योहन का सुसमाचार 8:1-11

1) और ईसा जैतून पहाड़ गये।

2) वे बड़े सबेरे फिर मंदिर आये। सारी जनता उनके पास इकट्ठी हो गयी थी और वे बैठ कर लोगों को शिक्षा दे रहे थे।

3) उस समय शास्त्री और फरीसी व्यभिचार में पकड़ी गयी एक स्त्री को ले आये और उसे बीच में खड़ा कर,

4) उन्होंने ईसा से कहा, ‘‘गुरुवर! यह स्त्री व्यभिचार करते हुए पकड़ी गयी है।

5) संहिता में मूसा ने हमें ऐसी स्त्रियों को पत्थरों से मार डालने का आदेश दिया है। आप इसके विषय में क्या कहते हैं?’’

6) उन्होंने ईसा की और परीक्षा लेते हुए यह कहा, जिससे उन्हें उन पर दोष लगाने का काई आधार मिले। ईसा झुक कर उँगली से भूमि पर लिखते रहे।

7) जब वे उन से उत्तर देने के लिए आग्रह करते रहे, तो ईसा ने सिर उठा कर उन से कहा, ‘‘तुम में जो निष्पाप हो, वह इसे सब से पहले पत्थर मारे’’।

8) और वे फिर झुक कर भूमि पर लिखने लगे।

9) यह सुन कर बड़ों से ले कर छोटों तक, सब-के-सब , एक-एक कर खिसक ईसा अकेले रह गये और वह स्त्री सामने खड़ी रही।

10) तब ईसा ने सिर उठा कर उस से कहा, ‘‘नारी! वे लोग कहाँ हैं? क्या एक ने भी तुम्हें दण्ड नहीं दिया?’’

11) उसने उत्तर दिया, ‘‘महोदय! एक ने भी नहीं’’। इस पर ईसा ने उस से कहा, ‘‘मैं भी तुम्हें दण्ड नहीं दूँगा। जाओ और अब से फिर पाप नहीं करना।’’

📚 मनन-चिंतन

आज के दोनों पठों में व्यभिचार में पकडे गये दो महिलावों के बारे मंे सुनते है। पहला पाठ में हम सुसन्ना के बारे में सुनते है। सुसन्ना ने व्यभिचार नहीं किया था, लेकिन उन पर दो नेताओं द्वारा झूठा अभियोंग लगाया गया था। सुसन्ना ने ईश्वर से प्रार्थना की और ईश्वर ने धर्मि दानिएल को प्ररणा दी और इस प्रका दानिएल के द्वारा सुसन्ना निर्दाेष है करके स्थपित किया गया और उन दोषी नेताओं को प्रण दण्ड दिया गया। लेकिन सुसमाचार में हम एक स्त्री के बारे में सुनते है जिनको व्यभिचार के पाप करते हूए पकडा गया। और भीड़ उसको पत्थर से मार डालने के लिए सडक पर लेके आयी, और युसु की परीक्ष लेने के लिए और उन पर दोष लगाने का कोई आधार मिलने के लिए, शास्त्री और फरीसीयों ने येसु से पूछा कि गुरूवर यह स्त्री व्यभिचार करते हुए पकड़ी गयी है। संहिता में मूसा ने हमें ऐसी स्त्रियों को पत्थरों से मार डालने का आदेश दिया है । आप इसके विषय में क्या कहते हैं?

अगर येसु उन सें कह दिया होता कि पत्थरों से मार डालो तो येसु अपनी शिक्षाओं जैसे प्यार क्षमा दया आदि के विरूद्ध जाते और अगर येसु उन से कह दिया होता कि उनको नहीं मारो, तो संहिता का भी विरूद्ध जाते। इस उलझने वाले स्थिति में येसु एक सुन्दर जवाब उस क्रोधी भीड़ को देते है कि तुम में जो निष्पाप हो, वह इसे सब से पहले पत्थर मारे। और सुसमाचार में कहा गया है कि यह सुनकर बड़ों से ले कर छोटों तक, सब के सब, एक एक कर खिसक गये। इस प्रकार येसु ने उस सत्री को बचाया और येसु ने उन से कहा कि मैं भी तुम्हें दण्ड नहीं दॅुगा। जाओ और अब से फिर पाप नहीं करना। यहॉ पे येसु के यह वचन पर ध्यान देना उत्तम होगा (संत मत्ती 7ः1-2) दोष नहीं लगाओ, जिससे तुम पर भी दोष न लगाया जायेय क्यों कि जिस प्रकार तुम दोष लगाते हो, उसी प्रकार तुम पर भी दोष लगाया जायेगा और जिस नाप से तुम नापते हो, उसी से तुम्हारे लिए भी नापा जायेगा।

प्यारे विश्वासियों, चालिसा काल हमें दूसरा की पापों कि ओर नहीं बल्कि हमारे पापों की ओर देखने का काल है। हमें पापों के प्रति पश्चात्ताप करके उचित फल उत्पन्न करने का समय है (संत मत्ती 3ः8) साथ ही साथ दूसरों के पापों केलिए पाप क्षमा याचना करने का समय है। ताकी हम सबों का आध्यात्मिक उन्नती हो। राजा दाऊद के समान (स्तोत्र 11ः12)हम भी प्रार्थना करें हे ईश्वर हमारे पापों पर दृष्टि न डाल, हमारा अपराध मिटाने की कृपा कर। ईश्वर हमारा ह्रदय फिर शुद्ध कर ओर हमारा मन फिर सुदृढ़ बना।

📚 REFLECTION

In today’s both the readings we hear about the women who were caught in committing adultery. In the first reading we hear about Susanna. Susanna did not commit the sin of adultery, but the leaders accused her falsely. Susanna prayed to the Lord and the Lord inspired Daniel the righteous one. Because of the interference of Daniel Susanna was found innocent. And therefore those two leaders were given death punishment.

But in the Gospel we hear about a woman who was caught red handed in committing adultery. And the crowd brought her to the street to stone her to death. Before that in order to test Jesus and to find a fault in him asked him about his opinion in this case. The Pharisees said to Jesus: this woman is caught in committing adultery. And the law of Moses says to stone such persons to death. What do you say?

If Jesus had said that stone her to death then Jesus would have gone against his teaching- love, forgiveness etc. But if Jesus had said not to kill her, then he would have gone against the Law of Moses. However in this complicated situation Jesus comes up with a noble and beautiful answer: Let anyone among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her. And the word of God tells us that when they heard it, they went away, one by one, beginning with the elders. And Jesus told her neither do I condemn you. Go your way and from now on do not sin again. It is fitting to pay attention to the saying of Jesus in Mt 7:1-2 Do not judge, so that you may not be judged. For with the judgment you make you will be judged and the measure you give will be the measure you get.

Friends, season of lent is not a time to look into the sins of others and judge them, but it’s a time to look into the sins of oneself and bear fruit of repentance (Mt 3:8). At the same time do penance for others sins as well. So that everyone grows spiritually. Like the king David let us also pray to God: Ps 51:10 create in me a clean heart O God and put a new and right sprit within me.

पहला पाठ : यिरमियाह 31:31-34

31) प्रभु यह कहता हैः “वे दिन आ रहे हैं, जब मैं इस्राएल के घराने और यूदा के घराने के साथ एक नया विधान स्थापित करूँगा।

32) यह उस विधान की तरह नहीं होगा, जिसे मैंने उस दिन उनके पूर्वजों के साथ स्थापित किया था, जब मैंने उन्हें मिस्र से निकालने के लिए हाथ से पकड़ लिया था। उस विधान को उन्होंने भंग कर दिया, यद्यपि मैं उनका स्वामी था।“ यह प्रभु की वाणी है।

33) “वह समय बीत जाने के बाद मैं इस्राएल के लिए एक नया विधान निर्धारित करूँगा।’ यह प्रभु की वाणी है। “मैं अपना नियम उनके अभ्यन्तर में रख दूँगा, मैं उसे उनके हृदय पर अंकित करूँगा। मैं उनका ईश्वर होऊँगा और वे मेरी प्रजा होंगे।

34) इसकी जरूरत नहीं रहेगी कि वे एक दूसरे को शिक्षा दें और अपने भाइयों से कहें- ’प्रभु का ज्ञान प्राप्त कीजिए’ ; क्योंकि छोटे और बड़े, सब-के-सब मुझे जानेंगे।“ यह प्रभु की वाणी है। “मैं उनके अपराध क्षमा कर दूँगा, मैं उनके पापों की याद नहीं रखूँगा।“

दूसरा पाठ : इब्रानियों 5:7-9

7) मसीह ने इस पृथ्वी पर रहते समय पुकार-पुकार कर और आँसू बहा कर ईश्वर से, जो उन्हें मृत्यु से बचा सकता था, प्रार्थना और अनुनय-विनय की। श्रद्धालुता के कारण उनकी प्रार्थना सुनी गयी।

8) ईश्वर का पुत्र होने पर भी उन्होंने दुःख सह कर आज्ञापालन सीखा।

9 (9-10) वह पूर्ण रूप से सिद्ध बन कर और ईश्वर से मेलखि़सेदेक की तरह प्रधानयाजक की उपाधि प्राप्त कर उन सबों के लिए मुक्ति के स्रोत बन गये, जो उनकी आज्ञाओं का पालन करते हैं।

सुसमाचार : सन्त योहन 12:20-33

20) जो लोग पर्व के अवसर पर आराधना करने आये थे, उन में कुछ यूनानी थे।

21) उन्होने फि़लिप के पास आ कर यह निवेदन किया महाशय! हम ईसा से मिलना चाहते हैं। फि़लिप गलीलिया के बेथसाइदा का निवासी था।

22) उसने जाकर अन्द्रेयस को यह बताया और अन्द्रेयस ने फि़लिप को साथ ले जा कर ईसा को इसकी सूचना दी।

23) ईसा ने उन से कहा, “वह समय आ गया है, जब मानव पुत्र महिमान्वित किया जायेगा।“

24) मैं तुम लोगो से यह कहता हूँ- जब तक गेंहूँ का दाना मिटटी में गिर कर नहीं मर जाता, तब तक वह अकेला ही रहता है; परंतु यदि वह मर जाता है, तो बहुत फल देता है।

25) जो अपने जीवन को प्यार करता है, वह उसका सर्वनाश करता है और जो इस संसार में अपने जीवन से बैर करता है, वह उसे अनंत जीवन के लिये सुरक्षित रखता है।

26) यदि कोई मेरी सेवा करना चाहता है तो वह मेरा अनुसरण करे। जहाँ मैं हूँ वहीं मेरा सेवक भी होगा। जो मेरी सेवा करेगा, मेरा पिता उस को सम्मान प्रदान करेगा।

27) “अब मेरी आत्मा व्याकुल है। क्या मैं यह कहूँ - ’पिता ! इस घडी के संकट से मुझे बचा’? किन्तु इसलिये तो मैं इस घडी तक आया हूँ।

28) पिता! अपनी महिमा प्रकट कर। उसी समय यह स्वर्गवाणी सुनाई पडी, ’’मैने उसे प्रकट किया है और उसे फिर प्रकट करूँगा।“ आसपास खडे लोग यह सुनकर बोले, ’’बादल गरजा’’।

29) कुछ लोगो ने कहा, ’’एक स्वर्गदूत ने उन से कुछ कहा’’।

30) ईसा ने उत्तर दिया, ’’यह वाणी मेरे लिये नहीं बल्कि तुम लोगेा के लिये आयी।

31) अब इस संसार का न्याय हो रहा है। अब इस संसार का नायक निकाल दिया जायेगा।

32) और मैं, जब पृथ्वी के ऊँपर उठाया जाऊँगा तो सब मनुष्यों को अपनी ओर आकर्षित करूँगा।

33) इन शब्दों के द्वारा उन्होने संकेत किया कि उनकी मृत्यु किस प्रकार की होगी।

📚 मनन-चिंतन

प्रभु येसु इस दुनिया में समस्त मानव जाती को पापों से मुक्त करने केलिए आये। संत 1योहन 2:2 में वचन कहता है कि प्रभु येसु ने हमारे पापों केलिए प्रायश्चित्त किया है और न केवल हमारे पापों के लिए, बल्कि समस्त संसार के पापों के लिए भी। हमें उद्धार करने केलिए प्र्रभु येसु ने क्रूस पर अपना जीवन एक याग के रूप में समर्पित किया। संत पेत्रुस 1:18-19 में वचन कहता है आप लोग जानते हैं कि आपके पुर्वजों से चली आयी हुई निरर्थक जीवन-चर्या से आपका उद्धार सोने-चॉदी-जैसी नश्वर चीजों की कीमत पर नहीं हुआ है, बल्कि एक निर्दाेष तथा निष्कलंक मेमने अर्थात मसीह के मूल्यवान सक्त की कीमत पर।

आज के सुसमाचार में हम पढते है कि जब कुछ यूनानी येसु से मिलने केलिए आग्रह किया तब येसु ने उनसे कहा कि वह समय आ गया है, जब मानव पुत्र महिमान्वित किया जायेगा। प्रभु येसु कैसे महिमान्वित किया जायेगा? घोर मृत्यु द्वारा यानी क्रूस मरण द्वारा। इसलिए येसु वाक्य 27 में कहते है अब मेरी आत्मा व्याकुल है। क्या मैं यह कहॅू- पिता इस घडी के संकट से मुझे बचा? किन्तु इसलिए तो मैं इस घडी तक आया हॅू। पिता अपनी महीमा प्रकट कर। एक इनसान होने के नाथे क्रूस मरण के बारे में सोच के एक प्रकार की घबराहट होती थी लेकिन पिता को और समस्त मानव जाती को बहुत ज्यादा प्यार करने के कारण येसु क्रूस मरण के लिए तैयार हो जाते है। संत मत्ति 26:37से लेकर जब क्रूस मरण की घडी आगया तो येसु अपने शिष्यों से कहते है मेरी आत्मा इतनी उदाय है कि मैं मरने-मरने को हॅू। और आगे बढकर येसु पिता से कहते है मेरे पिता यदि हो सके, तो यह प्याला मुझ से टल जाये। फिर भी मेरी नहीं, बल्कि तेरी ही इच्छा पूरी हो। इसलिए आज के दूसरे पाठ इब्रानियों 5:7 में सुनते है कि मसीह ने इस पृथ्वी पर रहते समय पुकार-पुकार कर और ऑसू बहा कर ईश्वर से, जो उन्हें मृत्यु से बचा सकता था, प्रार्थना और अनुनय-विनय की।

जैसे कि आज के पहले पाठ में पिता ईश्वर एक नए विधान स्थापित करने के बारे में कहते है और वह कार्य प्रभु येसु में पूर्ण होता है। पिता ईश्वर ने येसु की मृत्यु द्वारा एक नया विधान स्थापित किया है। इसलिए अंतिम भोजन के समय येसु प्याला लेकर कहते है यह मेरा रक्त है, विधान का रक्त। (संत मत्ती 26:28) प्यारे विश्वासियों आईए हम ईश्वर को धन्यवाद दे हमें नए विधान की संतान बनाने के लिए। और हम नए विधान की संतान के रूप में आपना जीवन बिताये।

📚 REFLECTION

Jesus came to this world in order to set free all humankind from sin. 1Jn 2:2 says Jesus is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. St. 1Pet 1:18-19 the word of God says: you know that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your ancestors, not with perishable things like silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without defect or blemish.

In today’s gospel we read that as Jesus was teaching, some Greeks came to meet Jesus, and when Jesus was informed about this, Jesus says the time has come, when son of man will be glorified. How will Jesus be glorified? It is through suffering and death on the cross. Therefore Jesus says in the verse 27-28 that my soul is troubled. And what should I say- Father, save me from this hour? No, it is for this reason that I have come to this hour. Father glorify your name. being a human being Jesus felt terribly afraid of the death on the cross, but Jesus loved God the Father and the humanity above his own life. Therefore he was will to go through this suffering. Mt 26:37 Jesus began to be grieved and agitated for the time for his death on the cross has come near. Therefore Jesus prays to His Father, my Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; yet not what I want but what you want. In today’s second reading also we hear the same: Heb 5:7 in the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to the one who was able to save him from death and he was heard because of his reverent submission.

As in the first reading we hear about God who is going to establish a new covenant, and that new covenant takes place when Jesus dies on the cross. Jesus says it very clearly in Mt 26:28 Jesus took the cup and gave it to his disciples saying: drink from it, all of you; for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. Come let’s thank God for having made us the children of the New Covenant. Let us live our lives as the children of the new covenant.

18) प्रभु ने मुझे सावधान किया, तो मैं जान गया; उसने उनका षड्यन्त्र मुझ पर प्रकट किया।

19) मैं तो वध के लिए ले जाये जाने वाले मेमने के सदृश भोला-भाला था। मैं नहीं जानता था कि वे यह कहते हुए मेरे विरुद्ध षड्यन्त्र रच रहे थे, “हम वह हरा-भरा वृक्ष काट गिरायें। हम उसे जीवितों की दुनिया से उठा दें, जिससे उसका नाम लेने वाला कोई न रहे।“

20) विश्वमण्डल के प्रभु! तू न्यायी है। तू मनुष्य के हृदय की थाह लेता है। मैं उन पर तेरा प्रतिशोध देखूँगा, क्योंकि मैंने अपना मामला तेरे हाथों सौंप दिया है।

सुसमाचार : सन्त योहन 7:40-53

40) ये शब्द सुन कर जनता में कुछ लोगों ने कहा, ‘‘यह सचमुच वही नबी है’’।

41) कुछ ने कहा, ‘‘यह मसीह हैं’’। किन्तु कुछ लोगों ने कहा, ‘‘क्या मसीह गलीलिया से आने वाले हैं?

42) क्या धर्मग्रन्थ यह नहीं कहता कि दाऊद के वंश से और दाऊद के गाँव बेथलेहेम से मसीह को आना है?’’

43) इस प्रकार ईसा के विषय में लोगों में मत भेद हो गया।

44) कुछ लोग ईसा को गिरफ़्तार करना चाहते थे, किन्तु किसी ने उन पर हाथ नहीं डाला।

45) जब प्यादे महायाजकों और फरीसियों के पास लौटे, तो उन्होंने उन से पूछा, ‘‘उसे क्यों नहीं लाये?’’

46) प्यादों ने उत्तर दिया, ‘‘जैसा वह मनुष्य बोलता है, वैसा कभी कोई नहीं बोला’’।

47) इस पर फरीसियों ने कहा, ‘‘क्या तुम भी उसके बहकावे में आ गये हो?

48) क्या नेताओं अथवा फरीसियों में किसी ने उस में विश्वास किया है?

49) भीड़ की बात दूसरी है। वह संहिता की परवाह नहीं करती और शापित है।’’

50) निकोदेमुस, जो पहले ईसा से मिलने आया था, उन में एक था। उसने उन से कहा,

51) ‘‘जब तक किसी की सुनवाई नहीं हुई और यह पता नहीं लगा कि उसने क्या किया है, तब तक क्या यह हमारी संहिता के अनुसार उचित है कि किसी को दोषी ठहराया जाये?’’

52) उन्होंने उसे उत्तर दिया, ‘‘कहीं आप भी तो गलीली नहीं हैं? पता लगा कर देख लीजिए कि गलीलिया में नबी नहीं उत्पन्न होता।’’

53) इसके बाद सब अपने-अपने घर चले गए।

📚 मनन-चिंतन

प्रभु येसु कृपा से भरे हुए थे। इसलिए उनके शबदों में भी कृृपा भरी हुई थी। आज के सुसमाचार में हम पढते है कि महायाजकों और फ़रीसियों ने येसु को गिरफतार करने केलिए प्यादे को भेजा। जब प्यादे येसु को गिरफतार करने पहूचे तो येसु लोगों को शिक्ष दे रहे थे। येसु के शबद कृपा की अभिषेक से भरा हुआ था इसलिए प्यदे गिरफतार करना भूल गये और येसु की शिक्षा सुनने में डूब गये। और प्यादे येसु को गिरफतार न करके वापस आ गये। तब महायाजको और फ़रीसियों ने उन से पूछा येसु को क्यों नहीं लाये? तब प्यादों ने उत्तर दिया, जैसा वह मनुष्य बोलता है वैसा कभी कोई नहीं बोला। संत लूकस के सुसमाचार में 4:18 से हम देखते है कि येसु जब सभागृह पहूचे तो उन्हें नबी इसायस की पुस्तक दी गयी। पुस्तक खोल कर ईसा ने पढा। पढने के बाद वह उसे सेवक को दे कर बैठ गये। और वचन कहता है वाक्य 22 में सब उनकी प्रशंसा करते रहे। वे उनके मनोहर शब्द सुनकर अचम्भे में पड़ जाते थे।

येसु के समान हम भी एक शुद्ध जुबान अपनाने केलिए प्रार्थना करें। वचन हमें समझाता है मत्ती 15रू17:18 कि जो मुह में जाता है वह नहीं, बल्कि जो मुह से आता वह हमें आशुद्ध करते है। संत पौलूस हमें समझाते है एफेसियों 4:29 आपके मुख से कोई अश्लील बात नहीं, बल्कि ऐसे शब्द निकलें, जो अवसर के अनुरूप दूसरों के निर्माण तथा कल्याण में सहायक हों। एफेसियों 5:3 से संत पौलूस कहते है जैसा कि सन्तों केलिए उचित है, आप लोगों के बीच किसी प्रकार के व्यभिचार और अशुद्धता अथवा लोभ की चर्चा तक न हो। और न भद्वी, मूर्खतापूर्ण या अश्लील बातचीत; क्योंकि यह अशोभतीय है-बल्कि आन ईश्वर को धन्यवाद दिया करें। कलोसियों 4:6 आपकी बातचीत सदा मनोहर और सुरूचिपूर्ण हो और आप लोग प्रत्येक को समुचित उत्तर देना सीखें।

ईश्वर को हम धन्यवाद दे क्योंकि ईश्वर ने हमें बोलने कि शक्ति दी है। आईस हम यह कृपा प्रभु की महिमा केलिए इस्तेमाल करें। स्तोत्र 34:2 मै हर समय प्रभु को धन्य कहॅूगा; मेरा कण्ठ निरन्तर उसकी स्तुति करेगा। हम यही प्रार्थना करे स्तोत्र 141:3 प्रभु मेरे मुख पर पहरा बैठा, मेरे होंठो के द्वार की रखवाली कर। मेरे ह्रदय को बुराई की ओ झुकने न दे। हम संत मत्ती 12: 36-37 का यह वचन याद रखें न्याय के दिन मनुष्यों को अपनी हर निकम्मी बात का लेखा देना पड़ेगा, क्योंकि तुम अपनी ही बातों से निर्दाे या दाषी ठहराये जाओगे।

📚 REFLECTION

Jesus was filled with the grace therefore his words were also filled with the grace. in today’s gospel we hear that the chief priests and the Pharisees sent police to arrest Jesus. As they came to arrest Jesus, Jesus was teaching the people. Hearing the graceful words of Jesus, the police forgot about everything, and they sat down and listened to Jesus. Jesus finished his session and went away and the police also went back. As they reached the Pharisees and the chief priests asked them why they didn’t arrest Jesus. And they said “Never ahs anyone spoken like this.” In the Gospel of St. Luke we read that Jesus went to a synagogue and he was given the scripture of Isaiah and Jesus read it and said today this passage is fulfilled in your hearing. After that Jesus went and sat down and the Word of God says that in Lk 4:22 “all spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his mouth.

Like Jesus we too should have a gracious mouth. The word of God says in Mt 15 that what goes in to the mouth does not defile a person, but what come out that defiles a person. St. Paul reminds us in many places about the importance of having gracious words. Eph 4:29 Let no evil talk come out of your mouths, but only what is useful for building up as there is need, so that your words may give grace to those who hear. Eph 5:3-4 But fornication and impurity of any kind, or greed, must not even be mentioned among you, as it is proper among saints. Entirely out of place is obscene, silly, and vulgar talk; but instead, let there be thanksgiving. Col 4:6 Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer everyone.

Lets thank the Lord for he has blessed us with the ability of speech. Therefore let us use our mouth for the glory of God. Ps 34:2 says I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. Let us pray with the psalmist 141:3 set a guard over my mouth O Lord, keep watch over the door of my lips. Always remember the word of God in Mt 12;36-37 I tell you, on the day of judgment you will have to give an account for every careless word you utter. For by your words you will be justified and by your words you will be condemned.
