चालीसे का दूसरा रविवार

पहला पाठ : उत्पत्ति ग्रन्थ 22:1-2,9a,10-13,15-18

1) ईश्वर ने इब्राहीम की परीक्षा ली। उसने उस से कहा, ''इब्राहीम! इब्राहीम!'' इब्राहीम ने उत्तर दिया, ''प्रस्तुत हूँ।''

2) ईश्वर ने कहा, ''अपने पुत्र को, अपने एकलौते को परमप्रिय इसहाक को साथ ले जा कर मोरिया देश जाओ। वहाँ, जिस पहाड़ पर मैं तुम्हें बताऊँगा, उसे बलि चढ़ा देना।''

9) जब वे उस जगह पहुँच गये, जिसे ईश्वर ने बताया था, तो इब्राहीम ने वहाँ एक वेदी बना ली और उस पर लकड़ी सजायी।

10) तब इब्राहीम ने अपने पुत्र को बलि चढ़ाने के लिए हाथ बढ़ा कर छुरा उठा लिया।

11) किन्तु प्रभु का दूत स्वर्ग से उसे पुकार कर बोला, ''इब्राहीम! ''इब्राहीम! उसने उत्तर दिया, ''प्रस्तुत हूँ।''

12) दूत ने कहा, ''बालक पर हाथ नहीं उठाना; उसे कोई हानि नहीं पहुँचाना। अब मैं जान गया कि तुम ईश्वर पर श्रद्धा रखते हो - तुमने मुझे अपने पुत्र, अपने एकलौते पुत्र को भी देने से इनकार नहीं किया।

13) इब्राहीम ने आँखें ऊपर उठायीं और सींगों से झाड़ी में फँसे हुए एक मेढ़े को देखा। इब्राहीम ने जाकर मेढ़े को पकड़ लिया और उसे अपने पुत्र के बदले बलि चढ़ा दिया।

15) ईश्वर का दूत इब्राहीम को दूसरी बार पुकार कर

16) बोला, ''यह प्रभु की वाणी है। मैं शपथ खा कर कहता हूँ - तुमने यह काम किया : तुमने मुझे अपने पुत्र, अपने एकलौते पुत्र को भी देने से इनकार नहीं किया;

17) इसलिए मैं तुम पर आशिष बरसाता रहूँगा। मैं आकाश के तारों और समुद्र के बालू की तरह तुम्हारे वंशजों को असंख्य बना दूँगा और वे अपने शत्रुओं के नगरों पर अधिकार कर लेंगे।

18) तुमने मेरी आज्ञा का पालन किया है; इसलिए तुम्हारे वंश के द्वारा पृथ्वी के सभी राष्ट्रों का कल्याण होगा।''

दूसरा पाठ : रोमियों के नाम सन्त पौलुस का पत्र 8:31b-34

31) यदि ईश्वर हमारे साथ है, तो कौन हमारे विरुद्ध होगा?

32) उसने अपने निजी पुत्र को भी नहीं बचाया, उसने हम सबों के लिए उसे समर्पित कर दिया। तो, इतना देने के बाद क्या वह हमें सब कुछ नहीं देगा?

33) जिन्हें ईश्वर ने चुना है, उन पर कौन अभियोग लगा सकेगा? जिन्हें ईश्वर ने दोषमुक्त कर दिया है,

34) उन्हें कौन दोषी ठहरायेगा? क्या ईसा मसीह ऐसा करेंगे? वह तो मर गये, बल्कि जी उठे और ईश्वर के दाहिने विराजमान हो कर हमारे लिए प्रार्थना करते रहते हैं।

सुसमाचार : सन्त मारकुस 9:2-10

2) छः दिन बाद ईसा ने पेत्रुस, याकूब और योहन को अपने साथ ले लिया और वह उन्हें एक ऊँचे पहाड़ पर एकान्त में ले चले। उनके सामने ही ईसा का रूपान्तरण हो गया।

3) उनके वस्त्र ऐसे चमकीले और उजले हो गये कि दुनिया का कोई भी धोबी उन्हें उतना उजला नहीं कर सकता।

4) शिष्यों को एलियस और मूसा दिखाई दिये-वे ईसा के साथ बातचीत कर रहे थे।

5) उस समय पेत्रुस ने ईसा से कहा, ’’गुरुवर! यहाँ होना हमारे लिए कितना अच्छा है! हम तीन तम्बू खड़े कर दें- एक आपके लिए, एक मूसा और एक एलियस के लिए।’’

6) उसकी समझ में नहीं आ रहा था कि वह क्या कहे, क्योंकि वे सब बहुत डर गये थे।

7) तब एक बादल आ कर उन पर छा गया और उस बादल में से यह वाणी सुनाई दी, ’’यह मेरा प्रिय पुत्र है। इसकी सुनो।’’

8) इसके तुरन्त बाद जब शिष्यों ने अपने चारों ओर दृष्टि दौड़ायी, तो उन्हें ईसा के सिवा और कोई नहीं दिखाई पड़ा।

9) ईसा ने पहाड़ से उतरते समय उन्हें आदेश दिया कि जब तक मानव पुत्र मृतकों में से न जी उठे, तब तक तुम लोगों ने जो देखा है, उसकी चर्चा किसी से नहीं करोगे।

10) उन्होंने ईसा की यह बात मान ली, परन्तु वे आपस में विचार-विमर्श करते थे कि ’मृतकों में से जी उठने’ का अर्थ क्या हो सकता है।

📚 मनन-चिंतन

आज के सुसमाचार में, हम पढ़ते हैं कि प्रभु येसु पेत्रुस, याकूब और योहन को एक ऊँचे पहाड़ पर ले जाते हैं , और वहाँ उन्हें येसु की दिव्यता के साक्षात् दर्शन होते हैं जिसे देखकर वे आवाक रह जाते हैं। पेत्रुस के लिए यह इतना सुखद और कीमती पल था कि वह इसे जाने नहीं देना चाहता था। वह उस सुखद माहौल में अनिश्चित काल तक रहना चाहता था इसलिए वह येसु से कहता है, "गुरुवर! यहाँ होना हमारे लिए कितना अच्छा है! हम तीन तम्बू खड़े कर दें- एक आपके लिए, एक मूसा और एक एलियस के लिए।" उनहोने मसीह की स्वर्गीय सुंदरता की एक झलक देखी थी, और वे उसे जाने नहीं देना चाहते थे ।

प्रभु येसु ने उस समय उन्हें अपनी स्वर्गिक महिमा की बस एक झलक मात्र दिखलाई जिसे शिष्य आने वाले जीवन में अनंतकाल तक देखने व उसके भागिदार बनने वाले थे। पर इस अनंत आनंदमय स्वर्ग में जाने के लिए हमें पिता ही इस वाणी को गंभीरता से लेने की ज़रूरत है - " "यह मेरा प्रिय पुत्र है। इसकी सुनो।"

हम अपने जीवन में येसु की वाणी को सुनें और उस पर चलने वाले बने। प्रभु अपने वचन में और हमारे जीवन की परिस्थितियों में हमसे बात करता है; हम उसे उस अद्भुत क्षण की तैयारी के रूप में सुने जब हम उसे अनंत काल में आमने-सामने देख पाएंगे और सुन पाएंगे और कहेंगे - यहाँ होना हमारे लिए कितना अच्छा है! आमेन।

📚 REFLECTION

In today’s Gospel reading, Peter, James and John are taken up a high mountain by Jesus, and there they have an experience of Jesus which took their breath away. It was an experience that was so precious that Peter could not let it go. He wanted to prolong it indefinitely and so he says to Jesus, ‘Rabbi, it is wonderful for us to be here, so let us make three tents, one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah’. He and the other two disciples had a fleeting glimpse of the heavenly beauty of Christ, and did not want to let go of it.

Beauty always attracts; it calls out to us. Yet, Peter and the others had to let go of this precious experience; it was only ever intended to be momentary. They would receive it back in the next life as a gift. For now, their task was to listen to Jesus, ‘This is my beloved Son. Listen to him’. That is our task too. We spend our lives listening to the Lord as he speaks to us in his word and in the circumstances of our lives; we listen to him as a preparation for that wonderful moment when we see him face to face in eternity and we can finally say, ‘it is wonderful to be here’, without the need to let go.

मनन-चिंतन-2

येसु के रूपांतरण का उद्देश्य शिष्यों को येसु के भावी दुःखभोग को साहस एवं विश्वास के साथ साक्ष्य देने के लिए सक्षम बनाना था। रूपांतरण के दौरान पिता परमेश्वर येसु की प्रभुता को प्रदर्शित करते हैं तथा साथ ही साथ उन्हें स्वर्गिक वाणी “यह मेरा प्रिय पुत्र है” को सुनाते हैं। यह दृश्य तथा दिव्य वाणी येसु की प्रभुता में विश्वास करने के लिए शिष्यों को तैयार कर रही थी जिससे प्रेरित होकर वे येसु के दुःखभोग तथा क्रूस-मरण से निराश न हो बल्कि विश्वास में दृढ बने रहें। येसु का यह निर्देश कि “जब तक मानव पुत्र मृतकों में से न जी उठे, तब तक तुम लोगों ने जो देखा है, उसकी चर्चा किसी से नहीं करोगे।”(मारकुस 9:9) उनके इसी उद्देश्य की पुष्टि करता है कि उन्हें न सिर्फ विश्वास में दृढ बने रहना है बल्कि येसु के पुनरूत्थान के बाद इस रूपांतरण की घोषणा भी करना है।

रूपांतरण का अनुभव अस्थायी था लेकिन उसका उद्देश्य प्रभावशाली था। पेत्रुस उस आध्यात्मिक वातावरण में ही बना रहना चाहते थे। वे उस गौरवमय क्षणों में हमेशा बने रहना चाहते थे। शायद इसलिये वे कहते हैं, “गुरुवर! यहाँ होना हमारे लिए कितना अच्छा है! हम तीन तम्बू खड़े कर दें- एक आपके लिए, एक मूसा और एक एलियस के लिए।” किन्तु पेत्रुस की इस अभिव्यक्ति एवं सुझाव पर येसु कोई उत्तर नहीं देते हैं क्योंकि शायद ये बातें अप्रासंगिक थी। जो बात प्रासांगिक थी वह यह कि वे येसु की प्रभुता एवं दिव्यता का अनुभव करे तथा अपने कठिन समय में यह याद रखें कि येसु सचमुच में कौन हैं।

ईश्वर सोदोम और गोमोरा का विनाश करने से पूर्व इब्राहिम को इसका आश्वान्वित करना चाहते थे। वे इब्राहिम से कहते हैं कि, “सोदोम और गोमोरा के विरुद्ध बहुत ऊँची आवाज उठ रही है और उनका पाप बहुत भारी हो गया है। मैं उतर कर देखना और जानना चाहता हूँ कि मेरे पास जैसी आवाज पहुँची है, उन्होंने वैसा किया अथवा नहीं।” (उत्पत्ति 18:20-21) ईश्वर का इस प्रकार इब्राहिम को अपनी योजना बताना इस बात का सूचक था कि इब्राहिम को सोदोम निवासी अपने भतीजे लोट एवं उसके परिवार की चिंता करने की आवश्यकता नहीं है। ईश्वर इब्राहिम के इस निवेदन को कि यदि वहाँ पर दस धर्मी व्यक्ति भी मिलेंगे तो भी वह उसे नष्ट नहीं करेंगे को भी स्वीकार करता है। इस प्रकार ईश्वर इब्राहिम को विश्वास में लेकर ही यह कदम उठाते हैं जिससे इब्राहिम का साहस बना रहे। (देखिए उत्पत्ति 18:20-33)

मूसा भी ईश्वर के आज्ञानुसार लोगों का नेतृत्व करते समय अनिश्चितता एवं संशय की स्थिति में था। ऐसी स्थिति में वह भी ईश्वर के दर्शन की अभिलाषा करता है जिससे संकट एवं कठिन परिस्थितियों में उसका मनोबल बना रहे। “मूसा ने प्रभु से कहा,...यदि मैं सचमुच तेरा कृपापात्र हूँ, तो मुझे अपना मार्ग दिखला, जिससे मैं तुझे जान सकूँ और तेरा कृपापात्र बना रहूँ। यह भी ध्यान रख कि ये लोग तेरी ही प्रजा हैं। ....प्रभु ने मूसा से कहा, तुमने अभी जिस बात के लिए प्रार्थना की है, वही मैं करूँगा, क्योंकि तुम मेरे कृपापात्र हो और मैंने तुम को चुना है”। इस पर मूसा ने निवेदन किया, “मुझे अपनी महिमा दिखाने की कृपा कर।” उसने कहा, “मैं अपनी सम्पूर्ण महिमा के साथ तुम्हारे सामने से निकल जाऊँगा और तुम पर अपना ’प्रभु’ नाम प्रकट करूँगा। मैं जिनके प्रति कृपालु हूँ, उन पर कृपा करूँगा और जिनके प्रति दयालू हूँ, उन पर दया करूँगा।” (देखिए निर्गमन 33:12-19)

इस प्रकार ईश्वर मूसा पर अपनी महिमा प्रकट करते हैं और मूसा के हृदय में इस ईश्वरीय महिमा की स्मृति सदैव बनी रहती है। इस अनुभव से प्रेरित होकर मूसा प्रभु की प्रजा को नेतृत्व प्रदान करते हैं।

हमारे जीवन में भी ईश्वर हमें इस प्रकार का अनुभव कराते हैं। हमें भी ईश्वर की अद्वितीय निकटता तथा सहायता का अहसास होता है। इसके फलस्वरूप हमारा विश्वास एक नये मुकाम पर पहुँचता है। किन्तु यह सदैव नहीं बना रहता है। लेकिन इस अनुभव की छाप सदैव हमारे स्मृतिपटल पर बनी रहती है। यह स्मृति हमें हमारे कठिन दौर में हमारे विश्वास को बनाये रखने में सहायक होती है।

शायद रूपांतरण के इसी अनुभव को ध्यान में रखकर संत योहन साक्ष्य देते हैं, “... शब्द ने शरीर धारण कर हमारे बीच निवास किया। हमने उसकी महिमा देखी। वह पिता के एकलौते की महिमा-जैसी है- अनुग्रह और सत्य से परिपूर्ण।” (योहन 1:14) तथा “हमने उसे अपनी आंखों से देखा है। हमने उसका अवलोकन किया और अपने हाथों से उसका स्पर्श किया है। वह शब्द जीवन है और यह जीवन प्रकट किया गया है। यह शाश्वत जीवन, जो पिता के यहाँ था और हम पर प्रकट किया गया है- हमने इसे देखा है, हम इसके विषय में साक्ष्य देते ओर तुम्हें इसका सन्देश सुनाते हैं।” (1 योहन 1:1:2) संत योहन को येसु की दिव्यता एवं प्रभुता में विश्वास था क्योंकि उन्होंने इसका अनुभव किया था तथा वे अपने इस ईश्वरीय अनुभव को सारी जीवन संजोय रखते हैं। उनकी इस स्मृति के कारण उन्होंने अपने प्रेरिताई के जीवन के सारे दुःख-संकट विश्वास के साथ झेले। संत पेत्रुस कहते हैं, “जब हमने आप लोगों को अपने प्रभु ईसा मसीह के सामर्थ्य तथा पुनरागमन के विषय में बताया, तो हमने कपट-कल्पित कथाओं का सहारा नहीं लिया, बल्कि अपनी ही आंखों से उनका प्रताप उस समय देखा, जब उन्हें पिता-परमेश्वर के सम्मान तथा महिमा प्राप्त हुई और भव्य ऐश्वर्य में से उनके प्रति एक वाणी यह कहती हुई सुनाई पड़ी, “यह मेरा प्रिय पुत्र है। मैं इस पर अत्यन्त प्रसन्न हूँ।” जब हम पवित्र पर्वत पर उनके साथ थे, तो हमने स्वयं स्वर्ग से आती हुई यह वाणी सुनी।” (2 पेत्रुस 1:16-18)

आइए हम भी अपने जीवन में ईश्वरीय अनुभवों की स्मृति संजोए रखें जिससे अपने निजी दुःखभोग में हमारा विश्वास दृढ़ बना रहें।

45 That you may be the children of your Father who is in heaven, who maketh his sun to rise upon the good, and bad, and raineth upon the just and the unjust.

46 For if you love them that love you, what reward shall you have? do not even the publicans this?

47 And if you salute your brethren only, what do you more? do not also the heathens this?

पहला पाठ : विधि-विवरण 26:16-19

16) "आज तुम्हारा प्रभु-ईश्वर इन नियमों तथा आज्ञाओं का पालन करने का आदेश दे रहा है। तुम उन पर चलते रहोगे और सारे हृदय और सारी आत्मा से इनका पालन करते रहोगे।

17) आज तुम्हें प्रभु से यह आश्वासन मिला की वह तुम्हारा अपना ईश्वर होगा - बशर्ते तुम उसके मार्ग पर चलो, उसके नियमों, आदेशों तथा आज्ञाओं का पालन करो और उसकी बातों पर ध्यान दो।

18) तुमने प्रभु को यह आश्वासन दिया कि तुम उसकी अपनी प्रजा होगे, जैसा कि उसने तुम से कहा है, बषर्ते तुम उसकी सभी आज्ञाओं का पालन करो।

19) उसने जितने राष्ट्र बनाये, उन सब से अधिक तुम्हें सम्मान, ख्याति तथा महिमा प्रदान करेगा और तुम प्रभु की पवित्र प्रजा होगे, जैसा कि उसने तुम से कहा है।"

सुसमाचार : सन्त मत्ती का सुसमाचार 5:43-48

(43) "तुम लोगों ने सुना है कि कहा गया है- अपने पड़ोसी से प्रेम करो और अपने बैरी से बैर।

(44) परन्तु में तुम से कहता हूँ- अपने शत्रुओं से प्रेम करों और जो तुम पर अत्याचार करते हैं, उनके लिए प्रार्थना करो।

(45) इस से तुम अपने स्वर्गिक पिता की संतान बन जाओगे; क्योंकि वह भले और बुरे, दोनों पर अपना सूर्य उगाता तथा धर्मी और अधर्मी, दोनों पर पानी बरसाता है।

(46) यदि तुम उन्हीं से प्रेम करत हो, जो तुम से प्रेम करते हैं, तो पुरस्कार का दावा कैसे कर सकते हो? क्या नाकेदार भी ऐसा नहीं करते ?

(47) और यदि तुम अपने भाइयों को ही नमस्कार करते हो, तो क्या बडा काम करते हो? क्या गै़र -यहूदी भी ऐसा नहीं करते?

(48) इसलिए तुम पूर्ण बनो, जैसा तुम्हारा स्वर्गिक पिता पूर्ण है।

📚 मनन-चिंतन

आज के संसार में लोग किसी की पहचान उसकी योग्यता से करते हैं। बहुत सारी डिग्रीयां हासिल कर कोई खुद को साबित करने की कोशिश करता है तो कोई शारीरिक रूप से खुद को मोटा - तगड़ा बना के; कोई खुद को बहुत धार्मिक सिद्ध करके तो कोई बड़ा नाम कामके। आज इंसान अपने आप में एक, 'पूर्णता' तलाशता है। आधुनिक प्रतियोगी जीवन में 'पूर्णतावादी' लोगों की कमी नहीं। जब हम किसी से कहते हैं कि वह 'पूर्णतावादी' है, तो हमारा मतलब है कि वे चाहते हैं कि हर चीज हर लिहाज से सही हो। किसी भी प्रकार की गलती या त्रुटि के लिए कोई जगह नहीं होनी चाहिए। हम यह सोचते हैं कि पूर्णतावादियों के साथ रहना या काम करना मुश्किल हो सकता है क्योंकि वे खुद से और दूसरों से बहुत ऊंची व बड़ी - बड़ी मांग करते हैं।

प्रभु येसु आज के सुसमाचार में अपने अनुयायों को पूर्ण बनने का आह्वान करते हैं। "पूर्ण बनो जैसे तुम्हारा स्वर्गिक पिता पूर्ण है। " पर प्रभु येसु ने यहाँ पूर्ण शब्द को एक अलग अर्थ दिया है । संत लूकस के सुसमाचार में इसी बात को निम्नानुसार बताया गया है- "दयालु बनें, जैसे तुम्हारा सवर्किग पिता दयालु हैं'।" ईश्वर की पूर्णता उनके दयालु - प्रेम में निहित है। ईश्वर परिपूर्ण है जिस तरह ईश्वर दयालु है हमें उसी तरह परिपूर्ण होना है। येसु ने जिस दयालु प्रेम का आह्वान किया, वह बिना किसी सीमा का प्रेम है। यह उन लोगों को शामिल करने के लिए एक समावेशी प्रेम है जो हमारे दुश्मन हैं, जो हमें बीमार चाहते हैं, जो हमें नुकसान पहुंचाना चाहते हैं।

पूर्ण बनने के लिए के लिए हमें चाहिए कि हम मावीय तरीकों से नहीं पर दिव्य तरीके प्यार करें। और हमें दिव्य अथवा ईश्वरीय तरीके से प्यार करना है तो हमें उसके लिए अपने अंदर ईश्वर के अंश की ज़रूरत होगी। पवित्र आत्मा ही हममें ईश्वर के गुणों की वृद्धि कर सकता है। यह केवल आत्मा ही है जो हमें ईश्वर के सामान दयालु बनने और ईश्वर जैसे प्रेम करने के लिए सशक्त कर सकता है। आमेन

📚 REFLECTION

We tend to use the terms ‘perfect’, ‘perfection’ and ‘perfectionist’ in a very particular way. When we say of someone that he or she is a ‘perfectionist’ we mean that they want everything to be right in every respect. There must be no room for mistake or error of any kind. We tend to think that perfectionists can be difficult to live with or work with because they are so demanding of themselves and of others. When Jesus uses the term ‘perfect’ in today’s Gospel reading, he uses it in a rather different sense. When Jesus says to his disciples ‘be perfect just as your heavenly Father is perfect’ he is using the term ‘perfect’ in a different way to how we tend to use it. Sometimes there is more than one version of a saying of Jesus in the Gospels. Today’s Gospel reading is from Matthew, but Luke’s version of that saying of Jesus goes as follows, ‘Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful’.

God’s perfection consists in his merciful love. To be perfect as God is perfect is to be merciful in the way that God is merciful. A merciful person has a different connotation for us to a perfectionist. The merciful love that Jesus calls for is a love without limits. It is an inclusive love to the point of including those who are our enemies, those who wish us ill, who seek to damage us. Jesus declares that this is nothing less than a divine love. We might ask, ‘How could Jesus ask humans to love in a divine way?’ We need a divine resource to love in a divine way and that divine resource is the Holy Spirit. Saint Paul refers to the Holy Spirit as the Spirit of God’s love. It is only the Spirit who can empower us to love as God loves, to be merciful as God is merciful.

21 But if the wicked do penance for all his sins which he hath committed, and keep all my commandments, and do judgment, and justice, living he shall live, and shall not die.

23 Is it my will that a sinner should die, saith the Lord God, and not that he should be converted from his ways, and live?

24 But if the just man turn himself away from his justice, and do iniquity according to all the abominations which the wicked man useth to work, shall he live? all his justices which he hath done, shall not be remembered: in the prevarication, by which he hath prevaricated, and in his sin, which he hath committed, in them he shall die.

पहला पाठ : एज़ेकिएल 18:21-28

21) “यदि पापी, अपना पुराना पापमय जीवन त्याग कर, मेरी सब आज्ञाओं का पालन करता और धार्मिकता तथा न्याय के पथ पर चलने लगता है, तो वह अवश्य जीवित रहेगा, मरेगा नहीं।

22) उसके सब पापों को भुला दिया जायेगा और वह अपनी धार्मिकता के कारण जीवित रहेगा।

23) प्रभु-ईश्वर का यह कहना है- क्या मैं दुष्ट की मृत्यु से प्रसन्न हूँ? क्या मैं यह नहीं चाहता कि वह अपना मार्ग छोड़ दे और जीवित रहे?

24) किन्तु यदि भला मनुष्य अपनी धार्मिकता त्याग कर दुष्ट की तरह घृणित पाप करने लगता है, तो क्या वह जीवित रहेगा? उसकी समस्त धार्मिकता को भुला दिया जायेगा और वह अपने अधर्म तथा पाप के कारण मर जायेगा।

25) “तुम लोग कहते हो कि प्रभु का व्यवहार न्यायसंगत नहीं हैं। इस्राएलियो! मेरी बात सुनो। क्या मेरा व्यवहार न्यायसंगत नहीं है? क्या यह सही नहीं है कि तुम्हारा ही व्यवहार न्यायसंगत नहीं हैं।

26) यदि कोई भला मनुष्य अपनी धार्मिकता त्याग कर अधर्म करने लगता और मर जाता है, तो वह अपने पाप के कारण मरता है।

27) और यदि कोई पापी अपना पापमय जीवन त्याग कर धार्मिकता और न्याय के पथ पर चलने लगता है, तो वह अपने जीवन को सुरक्षित रखेगा।

28) यदि उसने अपने पुराने पापों को छोड़ देने का निश्चय किया है, तो वह अवश्य जीवित रहेगा, मरेगा नहीं।

सुसमाचार : सन्त मत्ती का सुसमाचार 5:20-26

(20) मैं तुम लोगों से कहता हूँ-यदि तुम्हारी धार्मिकता शास्त्रियों और फ़रीसियों की धार्मिकता से गहरी नहीं हुई, तो तुम स्वर्गराज्य में प्रवेश नहीं करोगे।

(21) "तुम लोगों ने सुना है कि पूर्वजों से कहा गया है- हत्या मत करो। यदि कोई हत्या करे, तो वह कचहरी में दण्ड के योग्य ठहराया जायेगा।

(22) परन्तु मैं तुम से यह कहता हूँ-जो अपने भाई पर क्रोध करता है, वह कचहरी में दण्ड के योग्य ठहराया जायेगा। यदि वह अपने भाई से कहे, ’रे मूर्ख! तो वह महासभा में दण्ड के योग्य ठहराया जायेगा और यदि वह कहे, ’रे नास्तिक! तो वह नरक की आग के योग्य ठहराया जायेगा ।

(23) "जब तुम वेदी पर अपनी भेंट चढ़ा रहे हो और तुम्हें वहाँं याद आये कि मेरे भाई को मुझ से कोई शिकायत है,

(24) तो अपनी भेंट वहीं वेदी के सामने छोड़ कर पहले अपने भाई से मेल करने जाओ और तब आ कर अपनी भेंट चढ़ाओ।

(25) "कचहरी जाते समय रास्ते में ही अपने मुद्दई से समझौता कर लो। कहीं ऐसा न हो कि वह तुम्हें न्यायाकर्ता के हवाले कर दे, न्यायाकर्ता तुम्हें प्यादे के हवाले कर दे और प्यादा तुम्हें बन्दीग्रह में डाल दे।

(26) मैं तुम से यह कहता हूँ- जब तक कौड़ी-कौड़ी न चुका दोगे, तब तक वहाँ से नहीं निकल पाओगे।

📚 मनन-चिंतन

आज के सुसमाचार में, प्रभु येसु अपने शिष्यों को एक गहरी धार्मिकता में जीने का आह्वान करते हैं। एक ऐसी धार्मिकता जो शास्त्रियों और फरीसियों की धार्मिकता से हटकर और गहरी हो। मूसा की संहिता में लिखा है - "हत्या मत करो" । प्रभु येसु इस शिक्षा से भी गहरी शिक्षा देते हुवे कहते है कि शारीरिक हत्या तो गुनाह है ही पर उससे अधिक हमें उस अंतर्निहित मनोवृत्ति और भावनाओं को हमारे अन्दर से निकालना है जो हमें एक दूसरे को मारने या घायल करने के लिए प्रेरित करती है। यीशु ने हमें आमंत्रित किया है कि हम हत्या जैसे गुनाह की तह तक जाएँ और पता करें कि लोग ऐसा क्यों करते हैं।

येसु हमारे दिल और दिमाग के नवीकरण के लिए कहते है; इसका मतलब सच्चे 'पश्चाताप' या 'मनपरिवर्तन' से हैं। और ऐसा परिवर्तन हम खुद ही अपने में नहीं ला सकते उसके लिए ईश्वर की कृपा और पवित्र आत्मा की ज़रूरत है। इसके बिना एक गहरा परिवर्तन हममें नहीं आ सकता। आइये हम ईश्वर के आत्मा से प्रेरित होकर जीने के लिए खुद को ईश्वर के सुपुर्द करें व अपने अंदर आत्मा को काम करने दें ताकि हमारे अंदर एक गहरा परिवर्तन आ सके। आमेन।

📚 REFLECTION

In today’s Gospel reading, Jesus calls his disciples to a virtue that goes deeper than the virtue of the scribes and Pharisees. One of the ten commandments of the Jewish Law was ‘You shall not kill’. However, the call of Jesus goes deeper than that; it looks beyond the action of killing to the underlying attitudes and emotions which lead people to kill or injure each other. Jesus invites us to look below the surface of what people do to why they do it. He calls for a renewal of the heart and mind; that is what we mean by ‘repentance’ or ‘conversion’. That deep-seated renewal that Jesus calls for is not something we can bring about on our own.

We need the Holy Spirit to work that kind of deep transformation within ourselves. A prayer that has been traditional within the church acknowledges that very clearly: ‘Come Holy Spirit, fill my heart, and kindle in me the fire of your love’. It is a prayer I have always found myself drawn to. It calls on the Holy Spirit to recreate deep within us the love which shaped the person of Jesus; it calls on the Spirit to form in us the roots of that deeper virtue which Jesus speaks about in today’s gospel reading.

पहला पाठ : योना 3:1-10

1) प्रभु के वाणी योना को दूसरी बार यह कहते हुए सुनाई पडी,

2) "उठो! महानगर निनीवे जा कर वहाँ के लोगों को उपदेश दो, जैसा कि मैंने तुम्हें बताया है"।

3) इस पर योना उठ खडा हुआ और प्रभु के आज्ञानुसार निनीवे चला गया। निनीवे एक बहुत बड़ा शहर था। उसे पार करने में तीन दिन लगते थे।

4) योना ने उस में प्रवेश किया और एक दिन की यात्रा पूरी करने के बाद वह इस प्रकार उपदेश देने, लगा "चालीस दिन के बाद निनीवे का विनाश किया जायेगा"।

5) निनीवे के लोगों ने ईश्वर की बात पर विश्वास किया। उन्होंने उपवास की घोषणा की और बडों से लेकर छोटों तक सबों ने टाट ओढ लिया।

6) निनीवे के राजा ने यह खबर सुनी। उसने अपना सिंहासन छोड दिया, अपने वस्त्र उतार कर टाट पहन लिया और वह राख पर बैठ गया।

7) इसके बाद उसने निनीवे में यह आदेश घोषित किया, "यह राजा तथा उसके सामन्तों का आदेश है: चाहे मनुष्य हो या पशु, गाय-बैल हो या भेड-बकरी, कोई भी न तो खायेगा, न चरेगा और न पानी पियेगा।

8) सभी व्यक्ति टाट ओढ कर पूरी शक्ति से ईश्वर की दुहाई देंगे। सभी अपना कुमार्ग तथा अपने हाथों से होने वाले हिंसात्मक कार्य छोड दें।

9) क्या जाने ईश्वर द्रवित हो जाये, उसका क्रोध शान्त हो जाये और हमारा विनाश न हो"।

10) ईश्वर ने देखा कि वे क्या कर रहे हैं और किस प्रकार उन्होंने कुमार्ग छोड दिया है, तो वह द्रवित हो गया और उसने जिस विपत्ति की धमकी दी थी, उसे उन पर नहीं आने दिया।

सुसमाचार : सन्त लूकस का सुसमाचार 11:29-32

29) भीड़-की-भीड़ उनके चारों ओर उमड़ रही थी और वे कहने लगे, "यह एक विधर्मी पीढ़ी है। यह एक चिन्ह माँगती है, परन्तु नबी योनस के चिन्ह को छोड़ इसे और कोई चिन्ह नहीं दिया जायेगा।

30) जिस प्रकार योनस निनिवे-निवासियों के लिए एक चिन्ह बन गया था, उसी प्रकार मानव पुत्र भी इस पीढ़ी के लिए एक चिन्ह बन जायेगा।

31) न्याय के दिन दक्षिण की रानी इस पीढ़ी के लोगों के साथ जी उठेगी और इन्हें दोषी ठहरायेगी, क्योंकि वह सुलेमान की प्रज्ञा सुनने के लिए पृथ्वी के सीमान्तों से आयी थी, और देखो-यहाँ वह है, जो सुलेमान से भी महान् है!

32) न्याय के दिन निनिवे के लोग इस पीढ़ी के साथ जी उठेंगे और इसे दोषी ठहरायेंगे, क्योंकि उन्होंने योनस का उपदेश सुन कर पश्चात्ताप किया था, और देखो-यहाँ वह है, जो योनस से भी महान् है!

📚 मनन-चिंतन

आज के सुसमाचार में, येसु ने खुद को सुलेमान व नबी योना से बड़ा घोषित किया। इस सूचि में हम जोड़ सकते हैं- अब्राहम से अधिक, मूसा से अधिक, इसायाह, से अधिक आदि । येसु यहूदी धर्मग्रंथ की सभी प्रमुख हस्तियों से बड़े है क्योंकि येसु का सम्बन्ध पिता ईश्वर से इन सब महान हस्तियों से अधिक गहरा व घनिष्ठ है । येसु के पिता के सम्बन्ध की धनिष्ठा हम उन्हें ईश्वर का पुत्र कहकर व्यक्त करते हैं। ईश्वर के साथ येसु का संबंध अपने आप में अद्वितीय है। वही येसु आज ईश्वर के साथ अपने बहुत करीबी रिश्ते में भागीदार होने के लिए हमें बुलाते हैं । वो हमारे हृदयों अपना आत्मा उंढ़ेलते हैं, जिससे प्रेरित होकर हम ईश्वर को ’अब्बापिता , पिता’ कह सकें। पवित्र आत्मा के माध्यम से, हम येसु के भाई और बहन बन जाते हैं; आज हमारा आह्वान है उस रिश्ते में जुड़ने का जिसके द्वारा येसु के भाई व बहनेँ बनकर पिता ईश्वर की प्रिय संतान बन जाते हैं।

📚 REFLECTION

In today’s Gospel reading, Jesus declares of himself that he is greater than Solomon and greater than Jonah. We could add to that list – greater than Abraham, greater than Moses, greater than Isaiah or Jeremiah. Jesus is greater than all the leading figures of the Jewish Scriptures because he has a closer relationship with God than all who went before him.

We express this close relationship Jesus has with God by saying that Jesus is the Son of God. Jesus’ relationship with God is unique to himself. Yet, he came into the world to draw us all into his own very close relationship with God. He pours his Spirit, the Holy Spirit, into our hearts, so that we, like him, can call God ‘Abba, Father’. Through the Holy Spirit, we become brothers and sisters of Jesus; we come to share in his own intimate relationship with God. Our calling is to live out of that relationship, to live as brothers and sisters of Jesus, as sons and daughters of God. We pray that this season of Lent would help us to live that calling more fully.
