4 These are the generations of the heaven and the earth, when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the heaven and the earth:

5 And every plant of the field before it sprung up in the earth, and every herb of the ground before it grew: for the Lord God had not rained upon the earth; and there was not a man to till the earth.

6 But a spring rose out of the earth, watering all the surface of the earth.

7 And the Lord God formed man of the slime of the earth: and breathed into his face the breath of life, and man became a living soul.

8 And the Lord God had planted a paradise of pleasure from the beginning: wherein he placed man whom he had formed.

9 And the Lord God brought forth of the ground all manner of trees, fair to behold, and pleasant to eat of: the tree of life also in the midst of paradise: and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

15 And the Lord God took man, and put him into the paradise of pleasure, to dress it, and to keep it.

Gospel: Mark 7: 14-23

14 And calling again the multitude unto him, he said to them: Hear ye me all, and understand.

15 There is nothing from without a man that entering into him, can defile him. But the things which come from a man, those are they that defile a man.

16 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.

17 And when he was come into the house from the multitude, his disciples asked him the parable.

18 And he saith to them: So are you also without knowledge? understand you not that every thing from without, entering into a man cannot defile him:

19 Because it entereth not into his heart, but goeth into the belly, and goeth out into the privy, purging all meats?

20 But he said that the things which come out from a man, they defile a man.

21 For from within out of the heart of men proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,

22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness.

23 All these evil things come from within, and defile a man.

पहला पाठ : उत्पत्ति ग्रन्थ 2:4b-9.15-17

4) जिस प्रकार प्रभु-ईश्वर ने पृथ्वी और आकाश बनाया,

5) उस समय पृथ्वी पर न तो जंगली पौधे थे और न खेतों में घास उगी थी; क्योंकि प्रभु-ईश्वर ने पृथ्वी पर पानी नहीं बरसाया था और कोई मनुष्य भी नहीं था, जो खेती-बारी करें;

6) किन्तु भूमि में से जलप्रवाह निकले और समस्त धरती सींचने लगे।

7) प्रभु ने धरती की मिट्ठी से मनुष्य को गढ़ा और उसके नथनों में प्राणवायु फूँक दी। इस प्रकार मनुष्य एक सजीव सत्व बन गया।

8) इसके बाद ईश्वर ने पूर्व की ओर, अदन में एक वाटिका लगायी और उस में अपने द्वारा गढ़े मनुष्य को रखा।

9) प्रभु-ईश्वर ने धरती से सब प्रकार के वृक्ष उगायें, जो देखने में सुन्दर थे और जिनके फल स्वादिष्ट थे। वाटिका के बीचोंबीच जीवन-वृक्ष था और भले-बुरे के ज्ञान का वृक्ष भी।

15) प्रभु-ईश्वर ने मनुष्य को अदन की वाटिका में रख दिया, जिससे वह उसकी खेती-बारी और देखरेख करता रहे।

16) प्रभु-ईश्वर ने मनुष्य को यह आदेश दिया, ''तुम वाटिका के सभी वृक्षों के फल खा सकते हो,

17) किन्तु भले-बुरे के ज्ञान के वृक्ष का फल नहीं खाना; क्योंकि जिस दिन तुम उसका फल खाओगे, तुम अवश्य मर जाओगे''।

सुसमाचार : सन्त मारकुस का सुसमाचार 7:14-23

14) ईसा ने बाद में लोगों को फिर अपने पास बुलाया और कहा, ’’तुम लोग, सब-के-सब, मेरी बात सुनो और समझो।

15) ऐसा कुछ भी नहीं है, जो बाहर से मनुष्य में प्रवेश कर उसे अशुद्ध कर सके; बल्कि जो मनुष्य में से निकलता है, वही उसे अशुद्ध करता है।

16) जिसके सुनने के कान हों, वह सुन ले!

17) जब ईसा लोगों को छोड़ कर घर आ गये थे, तो उनके शिष्यों ने इस दृष्टान्त का अर्थ पूछा

18) ईसा ने कहा, ’’क्या तुम लोग भी इतने नासमझ हो? क्या तुम यह नहीं समझते कि जो कुछ बाहर से मनुष्य में प्रवेश करता है, वह उसे अशुद्ध नहीं कर सकता?

19) क्योंकि वह तो उसके मन में नहीं, बल्कि उसके पेट में चला जाता है और शौचघर में निकलता है।’’ इस तरह वह सब खाद्य पदार्थ शुद्ध ठहराते थे।

20) ईसा ने फिर कहा, ’’जो मनुष्य में से निकलता है, वही उसे अशुद्ध करता है।

21) क्योंकि बुरे विचार भीतर से, अर्थात् मनुष्य के मन से निकलते हैं। व्यभिचार, चोरी, हत्या,

22) परगमन, लोभ, विद्वेष, छल-कपट, लम्पटता, ईर्ष्या, झूठी निन्दा, अहंकार और मूर्खता-

23) ये सब बुराइयाँ भीतर से निकलती है और मनुष्य को अशुद्ध करती हैं।

📚 मनन-चिंतन

आज के सुसमाचार पढ़ने में येसु उन लोगों को जवाब दे रहा है जो बाहरी अनुष्ठान, और बाहरी आडम्बरों के पालन पर बहुत अधिक ध्यान देते हैं, और इस बात पर पर्याप्त ध्यान नहीं देते हैं कि भीतर उनके दिल में, उनके आंतरिक संसार में क्या चल रहा है। हमारा आंतरिक संसार, जिसे सुसमाचार हमारा हृदय कहता है, भले और बुरे दोनों का स्रोत बन सकता है। यीशु को यह ज्ञात हो गया था कि हम इंसान किसी बड़ी व गंभीर बुराई के साथ-साथ महान से महान, अच्छे काम करने के लिए भी सक्षम हैं। वे चाहते थे कि लोगों के दिलों में वह सब कुछ हो जो अच्छा, उत्तम और जीवन देने वाला हो। पर्वत प्रवचन में वे कहते है - "धन्य हैं वे जिनका ह्रदय निर्मल है वे ईश्वर के दर्शन करेंगे। " वह उन लोगों को धन्य घोषित कर रहे थे, जिनका दिल सही जगह पर था, याने जिनका दिल ईश्वर पर नियत था , जिनका इरादा हमारे जीवन और हमारी दुनिया के लिए ईश्वर की इच्छा पर केंद्रित है । हमें अपने दिलों को भरने के लिए पवित्र आत्मा का आह्वान करते रहना चाहिए, ताकि हम येसु के समान हृदय के पवित्र हों ताकि हम उनके दर्शन कर पाएं।

📚 REFLECTION

In the Gospel reading Jesus is responding to those who pay too much attention to external ritual, external observance, and not enough attention to what is going on within, in their heart, their inner core. Jesus declares that it is from within, from people’s hearts, that evil intentions emerge. Our inner core, what the gospel calls our ‘heart’, can be a reservoir for good, but it can also be a reservoir for evil. Jesus seems to have been very aware that we are capable of great evil as well as great good. He wanted people to have hearts that were the wellspring of all that is good, wholesome and life-giving. You may recall one of the beatitudes he spoke, ‘Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God’. He was declaring blessed those whose heart is in the right place, as we might say today, those whose heart is fixed on God, whose intention is centred on what God wants, on God’s will, God’s desire for our lives and our world. It is from such a heart that great good comes. Only harm can come from a heart that is fixed on self, centred on its own comfort and pleasure. We need to keep calling on the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts, so that we are as pure in heart as Jesus was, as focused on God’s will for our lives as he was.

22 And he blessed them, saying: Increase and multiply, and fill the waters of the sea: and let the birds be multiplied upon the earth.

23 And the evening and morning were the fifth day.

24 And God said: Let the earth bring forth the living creature in its kind, cattle and creeping things, and beasts of the earth, according to their kinds. And it was so done.

25 And God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds, and cattle, and every thing that creepeth on the earth after its kind. And God saw that it was good.

Gospel: Mark 7: 1-13

1 And there assembled together unto him the Pharisees and some of the scribes, coming from Jerusalem.

3 For the Pharisees, and all the Jews eat not without often washing their hands, holding the tradition of the ancients:

4 And when they come from the market, unless they be washed, they eat not: and many other things there are that have been delivered to them to observe, the washings of cups and of pots, and of brazen vessels, and of beds.

5 And the Pharisees and scribes asked him: Why do not thy disciples walk according to the tradition of the ancients, but they eat bread with common hands?

6 But he answering, said to them: Well did Isaias prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.

7 And in vain do they worship me, teaching doctrines and precepts of men.

8 For leaving the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men, the washing of pots and of cups: and many other things you do like to these.

9 And he said to them: Well do you make void the commandment of God, that you may keep your own tradition.

10 For Moses said: Honour thy father and thy mother; and He that shall curse father or mother, dying let him die.

11 But you say: If a man shall say to his father or mother, Corban, (which is a gift,) whatsoever is from me, shall profit thee.

12 And further you suffer him not to do any thing for his father or mother,

13 Making void the word of God by your own tradition, which you have given forth. And many other such like things you do.

20) ईश्वर ने कहा, ''पानी जीवजन्तुओं से भर जाये और आकाश के नीचे पृथ्वी के पक्षी उड़ने लगें''।
21) ईश्वर ने मकर और नाना प्रकार के जीवजन्तुओं की सृष्टि की, जो पानी में भरे हुए हैं और उसने नाना प्रकार के पक्षियों की भी सृष्टि की, और यह ईश्वर को अच्छा लगा।
22) ईश्वर ने उन्हें यह आशीर्वाद दिया, ''फलोफूलो। समुद्र के पानी में भर जाओ और पृथ्वी पर पक्षियों की संख्या बढ़ती जाये''।
23) सन्ध्या हुई और फिर भोर हुआ यह पाँचवा दिन था।
24) ईश्वर ने कहा, ''पृथ्वी नाना प्रकार के घरेलू और जमीन पर रेंगने वाले जीवजन्तुओं को पैदा करें'', और ऐसा ही हुआ।
25) ईश्वर ने नाना प्रकार के जंगली, घरेलू और जमीन पर रेंगने वाले जीवजन्तुओं को बनाया और यह ईश्वर को अच्छा लगा।
26) ईश्वर ने कहा, ''हम मनुष्य को अपना प्रतिरूप बनायें, यह हमारे सदृश हो। वह समुद्र की मछलियों, आकाश के पक्षियों घरेलू और जंगली जानवरों और जमीन पर रेंगने वाले सब जीवजन्तुओं पर शासन करें।''
27) ईश्वर ने मनुष्य को अपना प्रतिरूप बनाया; उसने उसे ईश्वर का प्रतिरूप बनाया; उसने नर और नारी के रूप में उनकी सृष्टि की।
28) ईश्वर ने यह कह कर उन्हें आशीर्वाद दिया, ''फलोफूलो। पृथ्वी पर फैल जाओ और उसे अपने अधीन कर लो। समुद्र की मछलियों, आकाश के पक्षियों और पृथ्वी पर विचरने वाले सब जीवजन्तुओं पर शासन करो।''
29) ईश्वर ने कहा, मैं तुम को पृथ्वी भर के बीज पैदा करने वाले सब पौधे और बीजदार फल देने वाले सब पेड़ देता हूँ। वह तुम्हारा भोजन होगा। मैं सब जंगली जानवरों को, आकाश के सब पक्षियों को,
30) पृथ्वी पर विचरने वाले जीवजन्तुओं को उनके भोजन के लिए पौधों की हरियाली देता हूँ'' और ऐसा ही हुआ।
31) ईश्वर ने अपने द्वारा बनाया हुआ सब कुछ देखा और यह उसको अच्छा लगा। सन्ध्या हुई और फिर भोर हुआ यह छठा दिन था।
1) इस प्रकार आकाश तथा पृथ्वी और, जो कुछ उन में है, सब की सृष्टि पूरी हुई।
2) सातवें दिन ईश्वर का किया हुआ कार्य समाप्त हुआ। उसने अपना समस्त कार्य समाप्त कर, सातवें दिन विश्राम किया।
3) ईश्वर ने सातवें दिन को आशीर्वाद दिया और उसे पवित्र माना; क्योंकि उस दिन उसने सृष्टि का समस्त कार्य समाप्त कर विश्राम किया था।
4) यह है आकाश और पृथ्वी की उत्पत्ति का वृत्तांत।

सुसमाचार : सन्त मारकुस का सुसमाचार 7:1-13

1 फ़रीसी और येरुसालेम से आये हुए कई शास्त्री ईसा के पास इकट्ठे हो गये।
2) वे यह देख रहे थे कि उनके शिष्य अशुद्ध यानी बिना धोये हाथों से रोटी खा रहे हैं।
3) पुरखों की परम्परा के अनुसार फ़रीसी और सभी यहूदी बिना हाथ धोये भोजन नहीं करते।
4) बाज़ार से लौट कर वे अपने ऊपर पानी छिड़के बिना भोजन नहीं करते और अन्य बहुत-से परम्परागत रिवाज़ों का पालन करते हैं- जैसे प्यालों, सुराहियों और काँसे के बरतनों का शुद्धीकरण।
5) इसलिए फ़रीसियों और शास्त्रियों ने ईसा से पूछा, ’’आपके शिष्य पुरखों की परम्परा के अनुसार क्यों नहीं चलते? वे क्यों अशुद्ध हाथों से रोटी खाते हैं?
6) ईसा ने उत्तर दिया, ’’इसायस ने तुम ढोंगियों के विषय में ठीक ही भविष्यवाणी की है। जैसा कि लिखा है- ये लोग मुख से मेरा आदर करते हैं, परन्तु इनका हृदय मुझ से दूर है।
7) ये व्यर्थ ही मेरी पूजा करते हैं; और ये जो शिक्षा देते हैं, वे हैं मनुष्यों के बनाये हुए नियम मात्र।
8) तुम लोग मनुष्यों की चलायी हुई परम्परा बनाये रखने के लिए ईश्वर की आज्ञा टालते हो।’’
9) ईसा ने उनसे कहा, ’’तुम लोग अपनी ही परम्परा का पालन करने के लिए ईश्वर की आज्ञा रद्द करते हो;
10) क्योंकि मूसा ने कहा, अपने पिता और अपनी माता का आदर करो; और जो अपने पिता या अपनी माता को शाप दे, उसे प्राणदण्ड दिया जाय।
11) परन्तु तुम लोग यह मानते हो कि यदि कोई अपने पिता या अपनी माता से कहे- आप को मुझ से जो लाभ हो सकता था, वह कुरबान (अर्थात् ईश्वर को अर्पित) है,
12) तो उस समय से वह अपने पिता या अपनी माता के लिए कुछ नहीं कर सकता है।
13) इस तरह तुम लोग अपनी परम्परा के नाम पर, जिसे तुम बनाये रखते हो, ईश्वर का वचन रद्द करते हो और इस प्रकार के और भी बहुत-से काम करते रहते हो।’’

📚 मनन-चिंतन
आज के सुसमाचार में, येसु फरीसियों का सामना करते है क्योंकि उनकी विभिन्न परंपराएँ, जिनके बारे में वे बहुत अधिक उत्साहित रहते हैं, हमेशा परमेश्वर के वचन के अनुरूप नहीं होते हैं। जैसा कि येसु उनसे कहते हैं- "इस तरह तुम लोग अपनी परम्परा के नाम पर, जिसे तुम बनाये रखते हो, ईश्वर का वचन रद्द करते हो और इस प्रकार के और भी बहुत-से काम करते रहते हो।" यीशु के शब्द हमें याद दिलाते हैं कि प्रत्येक धार्मिक परंपरा स्वीकार्य नहीं है । क्योकि कई मानव निर्मित परम्पराएं ईश्वर के वचन के ख़िलाफ़ होती हैं। हमें यह पूछना होगा कि क्या यह या वह परंपरा वास्तव में हमारे जीवन के लिए ईश्वर की इच्छा के अनुसार है, जैसा कि धर्म ग्रन्थ में बताया गया है। इसलिए ईश्वर के वचन को सुनना हमारे लिए बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है। पोप फ्रांसिस इस बात को लेकर बहुत उत्सुक हैं। कई बार उन्होंने लोगों को अपनी जेब में सुसमाचार की एक छोटी प्रति रखने और हर दिन इसे पढ़ने के लिए प्रोत्साहित किया। प्रभु येसु ही वह जीवीत वचन है जो आदि काल से विद्यमान था और अपने नियत समय में वह शरीर धारण कर मनुष्य बन गया। येसु में मौजूद ख़ुदा के वचन को सुनने में, हमारी धार्मिक परंपराओं सहित हमारी परंपराओं के मूल्य का आकलन करने में येसु हमारी मदद करें। आमेन।


📚 REFLECTION
In this morning’s gospel reading, Jesus confronts the Pharisees because their various traditions, about which they are so zealous, are not always in harmony with the word of God. As Jesus says to them, ‘You make God’s word null and void for the sake of your tradition which you have handed down’. The words of Jesus remind us that not every religious tradition is worth holding on to. Every tradition has to be measured against the word of God. We have to keep asking if this or that tradition is really in keeping with God’s will for our lives as revealed in the Scriptures. That is why it is so important for us to keep listening to the word of God. Pope Francis is very keen that, in particular, we listen to the gospels on a regular basis. More than once he has encouraged people to keep a small copy of the gospels in their pocket and to read from it every day. It is above all in the gospels that we encounter the Word who was with God in the beginning and who became flesh and dwelt among us. Jesus not only speaks God’s word but he is God’s word in human flesh. In listening to God’s word, present in Jesus, we are helped to assess the value of our traditions, including our religious traditions.

5 And he called the light Day, and the darkness Night; and there was evening and morning one day.

6 And God said: Let there be a firmament made amidst the waters: and let it divide the waters from the waters.

7 And God made a firmament, and divided the waters that were under the firmament, from those that were above the firmament, and it was so.

Gospel: Mark 6: 53-56

53 And when they had passed over, they came into the land of Genezareth, and set to the shore.

54 And when they were gone out of the ship, immediately they knew him:

55 And running through that whole country, they began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was.

56 And whithersoever he entered, into towns or into villages or cities, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch but the hem of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole.

पहला पाठ : उत्पत्ति ग्रन्थ 1:1-19

1) प्रारंभ में ईश्वर ने स्वर्ग और पृथ्वी की सृष्टि की।

2) पृथ्वी उजाड़ और सुनसान थी। अर्थाह गर्त पर अन्धकार छाया हुआ था और ईश्वर का आत्मा सागर पर विचरता था।

3) ईश्वर ने कहा, ''प्रकाश हो जाये'', और प्रकाश हो गया।

4) ईश्वर को प्रकाश अच्छा लगा और उसने प्रकाश और अन्धकार को अलग कर दिया।

5) ईश्वर ने प्रकाश का नाम 'दिन' रखा और अन्धकार का नाम 'रात'। सन्ध्या हुई और फिर भोर हुआ यह पहला दिन था।

6) ईश्वर ने कहा, ''पानी के बीच एक छत बन जाये, जो पानी को पानी से अलग कर दे'', और ऐसा ही हुआ।

7) ईश्वर ने एक छत बनायी और नीचे का पानी और ऊपर का पानी अलग कर दिया।

8) ईश्वर ने छत का नाम 'आकाश' रखा। सन्ध्या हुई और फिर भोर हुआ यह दूसरा दिन था।

9) ईश्वर ने कहा, ''आकाश के नीचे का पानी एक ही जगह इक्कट्ठा हो जाये और थल दिखाई पड़े'', और ऐसा ही हुआ।

10) ईश्वर ने थल का नाम 'पृथ्वी' रखा और जलसमूह का नाम 'समुद्र'। और वह ईश्वर को अच्छा लगा।

11) ईश्वर ने कहा ''पृथ्वी पर हरियाली लहलहाये, बीजदार पौधे और फलदार पेड़ उत्पन्न हो जायें, जो अपनीअपनी जाति के अनुसार बीजदार फल लाये'', और ऐसा ही हुआ।

12) पृथ्वी पर हरियाली उगने लगी : अपनीअपनी जाति के अनुसार बीज पैदा करने वाले पौधे और बीजदार फल देने वाले पेड़। और यह ईश्वर को अच्छा लगाा।

13) सन्ध्या हुई और फिर भोर हुआ यह तीसरा दिन था।

14) ईश्वर ने कहा, ''दिन और रात को अलग कर देने के लिए आकाश में नक्षत्र हों। उनके सहारे पर्व निर्धारित किये जायें और दिनों तथा वर्षों की गिनती हो।

15) वे पृथ्वी को प्रकाश देने के लिए आकाश में जगमगाते रहें'' और ऐसा ही हुआ।

16) ईश्वर ने दो प्रधान नक्षत्र बनाये, दिन के लिए एक बड़ा और रात के लिए एक छोटा; साथसाथ तारे भी।

17) ईश्वर ने उन को आकाश में रख दिया, जिससे वे पृथ्वी को प्रकाश दें,

18) दिन और रात का नियंत्रण करें और प्रकाश तथा अन्धकार को अलग कर दें और यह ईश्वर को अच्छा लगा।

19) सन्ध्या हुई और फिर भोर हुआ यह चौथा दिन था।

सुसमाचार : सन्त मारकुस का सुसमाचार 6:53-56

53) समुद्र के उस पार गेनेसरेत पहुँच कर उन्होंने नाव किनारे लगा दी।

54) ज्यों ही वे भूमि पर उतरे, लोगों ने ईसा को पहचान लिया और वे उस सारे प्रदेश से दौड़ते हुए आये।

55) जहाँ कहीं ईसा का पता चलता था, वहाँ वे चारपाइयों पर पड़े रोगियों को उनके पास ले आते थे।

56) गाँव, नगर या बस्ती, जहाँ कहीं भी ईसा आते थे, वहाँ लोग रोगियों को चैकों पर रख कर अनुनय-विनय करते थे कि वे उन्हें अपने कपड़े का पल्ला भर छूने दें। जितनों ने उनका स्पर्श किया, वे सब-के-सब अच्छे हो गये।

📚 मनन-चिंतन

आज के सुसमाचार में गलीलिया के साधारण लोगों को देखते हैं जो येसु को पहचान लेने के बाद अपने रोगियों को उठा-उठाकर येसु के पास ले आते हैं। वे येसु के वस्त्र का पल्ला भर छूने के लिए तरसते थे क्योंकि उनका मानना था कि उनके ठीक होने के लिए उनके कपडे को छूना ही पर्याप्त होगा। लोगों का येसु को ढूंढते हुए आना और उनके द्वारा चंगाई में उनका दृढ विश्वास कबीले तारीफ है। हमें भी हमारे जीवन में ईश्वर की उस ऊर्जा का होना आवश्यक है। जब ईश्वर की बात आती है तो हमें भी उस लोगों की भीड़ की तरह येसु को दिल से खोजने और येसु पर अपना ध्यान केंद्रित करने की ज़रूरत है । हम सभी अपने विश्वास के संबंध में थोड़ा गुनगुना और उदासीन हो सकते हैं। हम हमारे विश्वास को मजबूत करें और विश्वास की ज्योति को हमेशा प्रज्वलित रखें। आमेन।

📚 REFLECTION

Today’s short Gospel reading gives us a picture of the ordinary people of Galilee hurrying to Jesus, once they recognized him, with many of them bringing with them the sick on stretchers. They asked Jesus that the sick be allowed just to touch the fringe of his cloak. They believed that would be enough for them to be healed. The people’s determination to get to where Jesus was and their total trust in his healing presence is very striking. It generated tremendous energy in them. We all need to have something of that energy for the Lord for ourselves. Just as the crowds hurried to Jesus with a very clear focus on him, we too need something of their determination and focus when it comes to the Lord. We can all become a little lukewarm and indifferent in regard to our faith. Every so often we need to ask the Lord, in the words of Saint Paul, to fan into a living flame the gift that we have received, the gift of our relationship with the Lord that was given to us at our baptism.
