पहला पाठ : इब्रानियो 1:1-6

1) प्राचीन काल में ईश्वर बारम्बार और विविध रूपों में हमारे पुरखों से नबियों द्वारा बोला था।

2) अब अन्त में वह हम से पुत्र द्वारा बोला है। उसने उस पुत्र के द्वारा समस्त विश्व की सृष्टि की और उसी को सब कुछ का उत्तराधिकारी नियुक्त किया है।

3) वह पुत्र अपने पिता की महिमा का प्रतिबिम्ब और उसके तत्व का प्रतिरूप है। वह पुत्र अपने शक्तिशाली शब्द द्वारा समस्त सृष्टि को बनाये रखता है। उसने हमारे पापों का प्रायश्चित किया और अब वह सर्वशक्तिमान् ईश्वर के दाहिने विराजमान है।

4) उसका स्थान स्वर्गदूतों से ऊँचा है; क्योंकि जो नाम उसे उत्तराधिकार में मिला है, वह उनके नाम से कहीं अधिक श्रेष्ठ है।

5) क्या ईश्वर ने कभी किसी स्वर्गदूत से यह कहा- तुम मेरे पुत्र हो, आज मैंने तुम्हें उत्पन्न किया है और मैं उसके लिए पिता बन जाऊँगा और वह मेरा पुत्र होगा?

6) फिर वह अपने पहलौठे को संसार के सामने प्रस्तुत करते हुए कहता है- ईश्वर के सभी स्वर्गदूत उसकी आराधना करें,

सुसमाचार : मारकुस 1:14-20

14) योहन के गिरफ़्तार हो जाने के बाद ईसा गलीलिया आये और यह कहते हुए ईश्वर के सुसमाचार का प्रचार करते रहे,

15) "समय पूरा हो चुका है। ईश्वर का राज्य निकट आ गया है। पश्चाताप करो और सुसमाचार में विश्वास करो।"

16) गलीलिया के समुद्र के किनारे से हो कर जाते हुए ईसा ने सिमोन और उसके भाई अन्द्रेयस को देखा। वे समुद्र में जाल डाले रहे थे, क्योंकि वे मछुए थे।

17) ईसा ने उन से कहा, "मेरे पीछे चले आओ। मैं तुम्हें मनुष्यों के मछुए बनाऊँगा।"

18) और वे तुरन्त अपने जाल छोड़ कर उनके पीछे हो लिये।

19) कुछ आगे बढ़ने पर ईसा ने जेबेदी के पुत्र याकूब और उसके भाई योहन को देखा। वे भी नाव में अपने जाल मरम्मत कर रहे थे।

20) ईसा ने उन्हें उसी समय बुलाया। वे अपने पिता ज़ेबेदी को मज़दूरों के साथ नाव में छोड़ कर उनके पीछे हो लिये।

📚 मनन-चिंतन

संसार के मुक्तिदाता का जन्मदिन धूम-धाम से मनाने के बाद हम अब पूजन विधि के सामान्यकाल में प्रवेश करते हैं। आज हम प्रभु येसु द्वारा सुसमाचार की घोषणा का आरम्भ और अपने पहले शिष्यों का बुलावा देखते हैं। सुसमाचार दरिद्रों, अंधों, पद दलितों एवं पीड़ितों के लिए आशा का संदेश है, जैसा कि प्रभु येसु ने नाज़रेथ के सभागृह में घोषित किया था (लूकस ४:१८)। इस सुसमाचार को उचित रीति से ग्रहण करने के लिए और प्रभु के वचन को सुनने के लिए अपने पापों के लिए पश्चाताप करना होगा। प्रभु येसु अपने इस मिशन में सहयोग के लिए कुछ शिष्यों को बुलाते हैं।

हम अंदरियस और सिमोन दो भाइयों को देखते हैं जो प्रभु के बुलाने पर अपने जाल छोड़ कर उनके पीछे हो लेते हैं। भाइयों की यह जोड़ियाँ हमें प्रभु येसु के शिष्य बनने के लिए कुछ ज़रूरतों को समझाते हैं। सिमोन और अंदरियस अपने जाल छोड़कर प्रभु के पीछे हो लेते हैं, उनके जान उनकी जीविका थे, उनकी सम्पत्ति, उनके कमाई और जीवन-यापन का साधन थे। वह सब कुछ छोड़कर प्रभु येसु को ही अपना जीवन बना लेते हैं। इसी तरह याकूब और योहन ना केवल अपने जाल छोड़ देते हैं बल्कि अपने पिता को भी छोड़ देते हैं, जिसका अर्थ है कि हमें प्रभु के शिष्य बनने के लिए अपने सगे-सम्बन्धियों को भी त्यागना पड़ेगा, क्योंकि ईश्वर ही हमारा परिवार बन जाते और अन्य शिष्य उनके सगे-सम्बन्धी बन जाते हैं। क्या मैं प्रभु येसु के मिशन कार्य में सहयोग देने के लिए उनके शिष्य बनने की क़ीमत पहचानता हूँ?

📚 REFLECTION

We now enter into ordinary season after celebrating birth of the saviour of the world. Today we see the beginning of proclamation of the good news by Jesus and calling of his first disciples. The good news is the news of hope for the poor, the blind, the downtrodden and the exploited, as stated by Jesus in the synagogue of Nazareth (Luke 4:18). In order to receive this good news and the kingdom of God, we need to prepare ourselves by repentance and paying heed to God’s word. Jesus calls his first disciples to help him in his mission.

We see two brothers Andrew and Simon when called by Jesus, leave their nets and follow Jesus. We also see two more brothers James and John, both sons of Zebedee, they leave their father and start following Jesus. These both pairs of brothers symbolise something needed for being true disciples of Jesus. Andrew and Simon left their nets, which were their living, their property, their source of earning and survival. They leave it behind and centre their life on Jesus. Similarly James and John not only leave behind their nets but also their father, symbolising the family and the relatives, God becomes their family, and followers become their brothers and sisters. Do I realise the cost of being Jesus’ disciple to contribute in his mission?

First Reading: Isaiah 55: 1-11

1 All you that thirst, come to the waters: and you that have no money make haste, buy, and eat: come ye, buy wine and milk without money, and without any price.

2 Why do you spend money for that which is not breed, and your labour for that which doth not satisfy you? Hearken diligently to me, and eat that which is good, and your soul shall be delighted in fatness.

3 Incline your ear and come to me: hear and your soul shall live, and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, the faithful mercies of David.

4 Behold I have given him for a witness to the people, for a leader and a master to the Gentiles.

5 Behold thou shalt call a nation, which thou knewest not: and the nations that knew not thee shall run to thee, because of the Lord thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel, for he hath glorified thee.

6 Seek ye the Lord, while he may be found: call upon him, while he is near.

7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unjust man his thoughts, and let him return to the Lord, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God: for he is bountiful to forgive.

8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts: nor your ways my ways, saith the Lord.

2 Behold, God is my saviour, I will deal confidently, and will not fear: O because the Lord is my strength, and my praise, and he is become my salvation.

3 You shall draw waters with joy out of the saviour’s fountains:

4 And you shall say in that day: Praise ye the Lord, and call upon his name: make his works known among the people: remember that his name is high.

5 Sing ye to the Lord, for he hath done great things: shew this forth in all the earth.

6 Rejoice, and praise, O thou habitation of Sion: for great is he that is in the midst of thee, the Holy One of Israel.

Second Reading: First John 5: 1-9

1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ, is born of God. And every one that loveth him who begot, loveth him also who is born of him.

2 In this we know that we love the children of God: when we love God, and keep his commandments.

3 For this is the charity of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not heavy.

4 For whatsoever is born of God, overcometh the world: and this is the victory which overcometh the world, our faith.

5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

6 This is he that came by water and blood, Jesus Christ: not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit which testifieth, that Christ is the truth.

7 And there are three who give testimony in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost. And these three are one.

8 And there are three that give testimony on earth: the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three are one.

9 If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater. For this is the testimony of God, which is greater, because he hath testified of his Son.

Gospel: Mark 1: 7-11

7 And he preached, saying: There cometh after me one mightier than I, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and loose.

8 I have baptized you with water; but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.

9 And it came to pass, in those days, Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan.

10 And forthwith coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit as a dove descending, and remaining on him.

11 And there came a voice from heaven: Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

प्रभु येसु का बपतिस्मा

पहला पाठ: इसायाह का ग्रन्थ 55:1-11

1) “तुम सब, जो प्यासे हो, पानी के पास चले आओ। यदि तुम्हारे पास रुपया नहीं हो, तो भी आओ। मुफ़्त में अन्न ख़रीद कर खाओ, दाम चुकाये बिना अंगूरी और दूध ख़रीद लो।

2) जो भोजन नहीं है, उसके लिए तुम लोग अपना रुपया क्यों ख़र्च करते हो? जो तृप्ति नहीं दे सकता है, उसके लिए परिश्रम क्यों करते हो? मेरी बात मानो। तब खाने के लिए तुम्हें अच्छी चीज़ें मिलेंगी और तुम लोग पकवान खा कर प्रसन्न रहोगे।

3) कान लगा कर सुनो और मेरे पास आओ। मेरी बात पर ध्यान दो और तुम्हारी आत्मा को जीवन प्राप्त होगा। मैंने दाऊद से दया करते रहने की प्रतिज्ञा की थी। उसके अनुसार मैं तुम लोगों के लिए, एक चिरस्थायी विधान ठहराऊँगा।

4) मैंने राष्ट्रों के साक्य देने के लिए दाऊद को चुना और उसे राष्ट्रों का पथप्रदर्शक तथा अधिपति बना दिया है।

5) “तू उन राष्ट्रों को बुलायेगी, जिन्हें तू नहीं जानती थी और जो तुझे नहीं जानते थे, वे दौड़ते हुए तेरे पास जायेंगे। यह इसलिए होगा कि प्रभु, तेरा ईश्वर, इस्राएल का परमपावन ईश्वर, तुझे महिमान्वित करेगा।

6) “जब तक प्रभु मिल सकता है, तब तक उसके पास चली जा। जब तक वह निकट है, तब तक उसकी दुहाई देती रह।

7) पापी अपना मार्ग छोड़ दे और दुष्ट अपने बुरे विचार त्याग दे। वह प्रभु के पास लौट आये और वह उस पर दया करेगा; क्योंकि हमारा ईश्वर दयासागर है।

8) प्रभु यह कहता है- तुम लोगों के विचार मेरे विचार नहीं हैं और मेरे मार्ग तुम लोगों के मार्ग नहीं हैं।

9) जिस तरह आकश पृथ्वी के ऊपर बहुत ऊँचा है, उसी तरह मेरे मार्ग तुम्हारे मार्गों से और मेरे विचार तुम्हारे विचारों से ऊँचे हैं।

10) जिस तरह पानी और बर्फ़ आकाश से उतर कर भूमि सींचे बिना, उसे उपजाऊ बनाये और हरियाली से ढके बिना वहाँ नहीं लौटते, जिससे भूमि बीज बोने वाले को बीज और खाने वाले को अनाज दे सके,

11) उसी तरह मेरी वाणी मेरे मुख से निकल कर व्यर्थ ही मेरे पास नहीं लौटती। मैं जो चाहता था, वह उसे कर देती है और मेरा उद्देश्य पूरा करने के बाद ही वह मेरे पास लौट आती है।

दूसरा पाठ : 1 योहन 5:1-9

1) जो यह विश्वास करता है कि ईसा ही मसीह हैं, वह ईश्वर की सन्तान है और जो जन्मदाता को प्यार करता है, वह उसकी सन्तान को भी प्यार करता है।

2) इसलिए यदि हम ईश्वर को प्यार करते हैं और उसकी आज्ञाओं का पालन करते हैं, तो हमें ईश्वर की सन्तान को भी प्यार करना चाहिए।

3) ईश्वर की आज्ञाओं का पालन करना- यही ईश्वर का प्रेम है। उसकी आज्ञाएं भारी नहीं,

4) क्योंकि ईश्वर की हर सन्तान संसार पर विजयी होती है। वह विजय, जो संसार को पराजित करती है, हमारा विश्वास ही है।

5) संसार का विजयी कौन है? केवल वही, जो यह विश्वास करता है कि ईसा ईश्वर के पुत्र हैं।

6) ईसा मसीह जल और रक्त से आये - न केवल जल से, बल्कि जल और रक्त से। आत्मा इसके विषय में साक्ष्य देता है, क्योंकि आत्मा सत्य है।

7) इस प्रकार ये तीन साक्ष्य देते हैं-

8) आत्मा, जल और रक्त और तीनों एक ही बात कहते हैं।

9) हम मनुष्यों का साक्ष्य स्वीकार करते हैं, किन्तु ईश्वर का साक्ष्य निश्चय ही कहीं अधिक प्रामाणिक है। ईश्वर ने अपने पुत्र के विषय में साक्ष्य दिया है।

सुसमाचार : सन्त मारकुस 1:7-11

7) वह अपने उपदेश में कहा करता था, ’’जो मेरे बाद आने वाले हैं, वह मुझ से अधिक शक्तिशाली हैं। मैं तो झुक कर उनके जूते का फ़ीता खोलने योग्य भी नहीं हूँ।

8) मैंने तुम लोगों को जल से बपतिस्मा दिया है। वह तुम्हें पवित्र आत्मा से बपतिस्मा देंगे।’’

9) उन दिनों ईसा गलीलिया के नाज़रेत से आये। उन्होंने यर्दन नदी में योहन से बपतिस्मा ग्रहण किया।

10) वे पानी से निकल ही रहे थे कि उन्होंने स्वर्ग को खुलते और आत्मा को कपोत के रूप में अपने ऊपर आते देखा।

11) और स्वर्ग से यह वाणी सुनाई दी, ’’तू मेरा प्रिय पुत्र है। मैं तुझ पर अत्यन्त प्रसन्न हूँ।’’

📚 मनन-चिंतन

कौन ऐसा व्यक्ति है जो स्वर्गीय पिता का पुत्र या पुत्री कहलाना नहीं चाहेगा? आज हम यर्दन नदी में प्रभु येसु के बपतिस्मा का पर्व मनाते हैं। जब वह योहन बप्तिस्ता से यर्दन नदी में बपतिस्मा ग्रहण करते हैं तो स्वर्ग से यह वाणी सुनाई देती है, “तू मेरा प्रिय पुत्र है। मैं तुझ पर अत्यंत प्रसन्न हूँ।” बपतिस्मा प्रभु येसु के मिशन कार्य को प्रारम्भ करने का संकेत था। यह वास्तव में उचित था कि स्वर्गीय पिता प्रभु येसु को उनकी वास्तविक पहचान याद दिलाते कि यह वही पुत्र है जिसे संसार की मुक्ति के लिए स्वर्गीय पिता ने भेजा है क्योंकि ईश्वर संसार को असीम प्यार करते हैं (देखें योहन ३:१६)। यदि प्रभु येसु ईश्वर के पुत्र हैं तो उन्हें पश्चाताप का बपतिस्मा ग्रहण करने की क्या ज़रूरत थी? क्या उन्होंने पाप किए थे क्योंकि योहन बप्तिस्ता तो पश्चाताप का बपतिस्मा देता था? (मत्ती ३:२)।

प्रभु येसु पापियों को बचाने ही इस दुनिया में आए, इसके लिए चाहे उन्हें कोई भी क़ीमत क्यों ना चुकानी पड़े, इसीलिए उन्होंने क्रूस की कष्टकारी मृत्यु को गले लगाया। वह उन्होंने अपने पापों के कारण नहीं बल्कि हमारे पापों के लिए ऐसा किया। अगर वह हमारे पापों के लिए खुद को क़ुर्बान कर सकते थे तो क्या पश्चाताप का बपतिस्मा ग्रहण नहीं कर सकते थे? वह पापी मानवता की ख़ातिर पश्चाताप का बपतिस्मा ग्रहण करते हैं। जब स्वर्गीय पिता उन्हें अपना प्रिय पुत्र घोषित करते हैं तो ये शब्द हमें याद दिलाते हैं कि जो भी अपने पापों पर पश्चाताप करते हुए ईश्वर की शरण में आता है वह उसका प्रिय पुत्र या पुत्री बन जाता है।

हमने भी प्रभु येसु में बपतिस्मा ग्रहण किया है। माता कलिसिया हमें सिखाती है कि बपतिस्मा के द्वारा हम ईश्वर के प्रिय पुत्र-पुत्रियाँ बन जाते हैं, क्योंकि हमारे सभी पाप क्षमा हो जाते हैं। साथ ही हम ईश्वर की चुनी हुई प्रजा-कलिसिया के सदस्य बन जाते हैं। हम अपने बपतिस्मा द्वारा पुराना स्वभाव त्यागकर एक नए व्यक्ति बन जाते हैं। हमारा बपतिस्मा हमारे लिए अन्य संस्कारों को ग्रहण करने का मार्ग खोल देता है जो हमें और भी गहराई से ईश्वर की संताने बनने में मदद करते हैं। लेकिन हम ईश्वर की प्रिय सन्तानें सदा बने रहने के लिए क्या करना पड़ेगा?

आज के पाठ में सन्त योहन अपने पत्र में हमें याद दिलाते हैं कि यदि हम अपने स्वर्गीय पिता को प्यार करते हैं तो हम उनकी आज्ञाओं का पालन भी करेंगे। ईश्वर की आज्ञाओं का पालन करना उसके साथ हमारे सम्बन्ध को बनाए रखने का प्रमाण है। जो ईश्वर को प्यार करते हैं, वह उसकी आज्ञाओं का पालन करते हैं, जो ईश्वर की आज्ञाओं का पालन करते हैं, ईश्वर उन्हें प्यार करता है और उनमें निवास करता है। जब ईश्वर हम में निवास करते हैं तो हम उनके प्रिय पुत्र-पुत्रियाँ बन जाते हैं। और कौन ऐसा व्यक्ति है जो ईश्वर की प्रिय सन्तान नहीं बनना चाहेगा?

📚 REFLECTION

Who does not want to be called beloved son or daughter of the heavenly Father? Today we celebrate the feast of the baptism of our Lord in the Jordan. When he receives baptism from John, a voice from heaven is heard, “You are my son, the beloved, with whom I am well pleased.” Baptism marked the beginning of Jesus’ public ministry. It was very appropriate that heavenly father assures Jesus of his real identity, the Son who is sent to save the world because God the father loved the world so much that he sent his son (cf John 3:16). If Jesus was the son of God then why should he receive the baptism of repentance? Did he commit sins, because John the Baptist was preaching the baptism of repentance (Matthew 3:2).

Jesus came to save us and in order to do so he was ready to pay any price, he accepted to die a painful death on the cross. It was not for his sins, but as a repentance for our sins. If he could die for our sins, then could he not receive the baptism of repentance for our sins? He represented the sinful humanity to receive the baptism of repentance. When heavenly father acknowledges him to be his beloved son with whom he is well pleased, these words also indicate that whoever repents and turns back to God, becomes his beloved son or daughter.

We also have received the baptism in the Lord. Mother church teaches us that our baptism makes us beloved children of God, because our sins, including original sin, are forgiven. We also become members of the Church, the family of the saved people. Through our baptism we die to sin and become a new identity, a new person. Our baptism also opens the door to other saving sacraments, which make us all the more beloved children of God. But how do we continue to remain as the beloved children of God?

St. John in his letter reminds us that if we love our heavenly father then we need to keep his commandments. Keeping God’s commandments is assurance of our relationship with him. Those who love God, they will keep his commandments and those who keep his commandments God will love them and dwell in them, when God dwells in us we become the beloved son or daughter of God. And who does not want to be called the beloved son or daughter of God?

16 He that knoweth his brother to sin a sin which is not to death, let him ask, and life shall be given to him, who sinneth not to death. There is a sin unto death: for that I say not that any man ask.

17 All iniquity is sin. And there is a sin unto death.

18 We know that whosoever is born of God, sinneth not: but the generation of God preserveth him, and the wicked one toucheth him not.

19 We know that we are of God, and the whole world is seated in wickedness.

20 And we know that the Son of God is come: and he hath given us understanding that we may know the true God, and may be in his true Son. This is the true God and life eternal.

21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

Gospel: John 3: 22-30

23 And John also was baptizing in Ennon near Salim; because there was much water there; and they came and were baptized.

24 For John was not yet cast into prison.

25 And there arose a question between some of John’s disciples and the Jews concerning purification:

26 And they came to John, and said to him: Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond the Jordan, to whom thou gavest testimony, behold he baptizeth, and all men come to him.

27 John answered, and said: A man cannot receive any thing, unless it be given him from heaven.

28 You yourselves do bear me witness, that I said, I am not Christ, but that I am sent before him.

29 He that hath the bride, is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, who standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth with joy because of the bridegroom’s voice. This my joy therefore is fulfilled.

30 He must increase, but I must decrease.

पहला पाठ : 1 योहन 5:14-21

14) हमें ईश्वर पर यह भरोसा है कि यदि हम उसकी इच्छानुसार उस से कुछ भी मांगते हैं, तो वह हमारी सुनता है।

15) यदि हम यह जानते हैं कि हम जो भी मांगे, वह हमारी सुनता है, तो हम यह भी जानते हैं कि हमने जो कुछ मांगा है, वह हमें मिल गया है।

16) यदि कोई अपने भाई को ऐसा पाप करते देखता है, जो प्राणघातक न हो, तो वह उसके लिए प्रार्थना करे और ईश्वर उसका जीवन सुरक्षित रखेगा। यह उन लोगों पर लागू है, जिनका पाप प्राणघातक नहीं है; क्योंकि एक पाप ऐसा भी होता है जो प्राणघातक है। उसके विषय में मैं नहीं कहता कि प्रार्थना करनी चाहिए।

17) हर अधर्म पाप है, किन्तु हर पाप प्राणघातक नहीं है।

18) हम जानते हैं कि ईश्वर की सन्तान पाप नहीं करती। ईश्वर का पुत्र उसकी रक्षा करता है और वह दुष्ट के वंश में नहीं आती।

19) हम जानते हैं कि हम ईश्वर के हैं, जबकि समस्त संसार दुष्ट के वश में है।

20) हम जानते हैं कि ईश्वर का पुत्र आया है और उसने हमें सच्चे ईश्वर को पहचानने का विवेक दिया है। हम सच्चे ईश्वर में निवास करते हैं; क्योंकि हम उसके पुत्र ईसा मसीह में निवास करते हैं। यही सच्चा ईश्वर और अनन्त जीवन है।

21) बच्चो! असत्य देवताओं से अपने को बचाये रखो।

सुसमाचार : योहन 3:22-30

22) इसके बाद ईसा अपने शिष्यों के साथ यहूदिया प्रदेश आये और वहाँ उनके साथ रहे। वे बपतिस्मा देते थे।

23) योहन भी सलीम के निकट एनोन में बपतिस्मा दे रहा था, क्योंकि वहाँ बहुत पानी था। लोग वहाँ आ कर बपतिस्मा ग्रहण करते थे।

24) योहन उस समय तक गिरफ़्तार नहीं हुआ था।

25) योहन के शिष्यों और यहूदियों में शुद्धीकरण के विषय में विवाद छिड़ गया।

26) उन्होंने योहन के पास जा कर कहा, "गुरुवर! देखिए, जो यर्दन के उस पार आपके साथ थे और जिनके विषय में आपने साक्ष्य दिया, वह बपतिस्मा देते हैं और सब लोग उनके पास जाते हैं"।

27) योहन ने उत्तर दिया, "मनुष्य को वही प्राप्त हो सकता हे, जो उसे स्वर्ग की ओर से दिया जाये।

28) तुम लोग स्वयं साक्षी हो कि मैंने यह कहा, ‘मैं मसीह नहीं हूँ’। मैं तो उनका अग्रदूत हूँ।

29) वधू वर की ही होती है; परन्तु वर का मित्र, जो साथ रह कर वर को सुनता है, उसकी वाणी पर आनन्दित हो उठता है। मेरा आनन्द ऐसा ही है और अब वह परिपूर्ण है।

30) यह उचित है कि वे बढ़ते जायें और मैं घटता जाऊँ।"

📚 मनन-चिंतन

आज का सुसमाचार हमारे समक्ष योहन बप्तिस्ता की विनम्रता का चित्र प्रस्तुत करता है। वह ऐसे स्थान पर बपतिस्मा दे रहे थे जहाँ बहुत सारे लोगों का आना-जाना लगा रहता था, इसलिए उनके पास बहुत सारे लोग बपतिस्मा ग्रहण करने के लिए आते थे। वह उनके ज्वलंत शब्दों को सुनकर बेचैन हो जाते थे। ना केवल सन्त योहन के वचनों से बल्कि उनके सादा जीवन से भी बहुत अधिक प्रभावित होते थे। वह जो प्रवचन देते थे उसका अपने जीवन में पालन भी करते थे, इसलिए बहुत सारे लोग उनके वचन सुनने के लिए उमड़ पड़ते थे। उनके भी अनेक शिष्य थे, और कुछ लोगों ने तो उन्हें गुरुवर कहकर पुकारना भी शुरू कर दिया था। किसी भी व्यक्ति को इतना सम्मान और उपलब्धि मिलने के बाद उसके मन में घमण्ड और अहंकार का जन्म लेना स्वाभाविक है, जो बाद में घृणा एवं ईर्ष्या जैसी नकारात्मक भावनाओं को जन्म देते हैं।

लेकिन हम देखते हैं कि योहन बप्तिस्ता इस तरह की नकारात्मक शक्तियों से अछूते रहते हैं, उन्हें अपनी वास्तविक पहचान मालूम है। लोग उन्हें चाहे जैसे भी बुलाएँ या कैसा भी सम्मान दें, उन्हें यह अच्छी तरह मालूम था कि वह केवल ईश्वर के मेमने की ओर इंगित करने वाला चिन्ह मात्र था। लोग चिन्ह अथवा संकेत को ही अपनी मंज़िल ना समझ लें। इसलिए वह उन्हें याद दिलाते हैं, “मैं मसीह नहीं हूँ लेकिन उनके आगे भेजा हुआ दूत हूँ,,,वह बढ़ते जाएँ और मैं घटता जाऊँ।” क्या मैं स्वयं के सम्मान के लिए कार्य करता हूँ या ईश्वर की महिमा के लिए? क्या मैं चाहता हूँ कि मुझमें और मेरे परिवार में ईश्वर बढ़ता जाए?

📚 REFLECTION

Today’s gospel witnesses before us about the humility of the John the Baptist. He was baptising in a place where lots of people could come, and so many people came to him and were baptised. They listened to his burning words that could stir their hearts. They were deeply impressed not only by his bold words but also by his life style. He practised what he preached and had always people around him to listen to him. He had a circle of disciples, some people even gave him the title of Rabbi. After getting such honour and achievement, pride and ego can creep in easily, which can give birth to other negative feelings like hatred and jealousy.

But we see John is untouched by these negative forces, he is well aware of his identity. Whatever people call him or in whichever way they treat him, he was well aware that he was only sign which indicated towards the lamb of God. People should not confuse the sign or indicator with the destination. So he reminds them “I am not messiah but I have been sent ahead of him…he must increase but I must decrease.” Do I seek self glory or glory of God? Do I want God to increase in me and my family?

7 And there are three who give testimony in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost. And these three are one.

9 If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater. For this is the testimony of God, which is greater, because he hath testified of his Son.

पहला पाठ : 1 योहन 5:5-13

5) संसार का विजयी कौन है? केवल वही, जो यह विश्वास करता है कि ईसा ईश्वर के पुत्र हैं।

6) ईसा मसीह जल और रक्त से आये - न केवल जल से, बल्कि जल और रक्त से। आत्मा इसके विषय में साक्ष्य देता है, क्योंकि आत्मा सत्य है।

7) इस प्रकार ये तीन साक्ष्य देते हैं-

8) आत्मा, जल और रक्त और तीनों एक ही बात कहते हैं।

9) हम मनुष्यों का साक्ष्य स्वीकार करते हैं, किन्तु ईश्वर का साक्ष्य निश्चय ही कहीं अधिक प्रामाणिक है। ईश्वर ने अपने पुत्र के विषय में साक्ष्य दिया है।

10) जो ईश्वर के पुत्र में विश्वास करता है, उसके हृदय में ईश्वर का वह साक्ष्य विद्यमान है। जो ईश्वर में विश्वास नहीं करता, वह उसे झूठा समझता है; क्योंकि वह पुत्र के विषय में ईश्वर का साक्ष्य स्वीकार नहीं करता

11) और वह साक्ष्य यह है - ईश्वर ने अपने पुत्र द्वारा हमें अनन्त जीवन प्रदान किया है।

12) जिसे पुत्र प्राप्त है, उसे वह जीवन प्राप्त है और जिसे पुत्र प्राप्त नहीं है, उसे वह जीवन प्राप्त नहीं।

13) तुम सभी ईश्वर के पुत्र के नाम में विश्वास करते हो। मैं तुम्हें यह पत्र लिख रहा हूँ, जिससे तुम यह जानो कि तुम्हें अनन्त जीवन प्राप्त है।

सुसमाचार : लूकस 5:12-16

12) किसी नगर में ईसा के पास एक मनुष्य आया, जिसका शरीर कोढ़ से भरा हुआ था। वह ईसा को देख कर मुँह के बल गिर पड़ा और विनय करते हुए यह बोला, "प्रभु! आप चाहें, तो मुझे शुद्ध कर सकते हैं।

13) ईसा ने हाथ बढ़ा कर यह कहते हुए उसका स्पर्श किया, "मैं यही चाहता हूँ-शुद्ध जो जाओ"। उसी क्षण उसका कोढ़ दूर हो गया।

14) ईसा ने उसे किसी से कुछ न कहने का आदेश दिया और कहा, "जा कर अपने को याजक को दिखाओ और अपने शुद्धीकरण के लिए मूसा द्वारा निर्धारित भेंट चढ़ाओं, जिससे तुम्हारा स्वास्थ्यलाभ प्रमाणित हो जाये"

15) ईसा की ख्याति बढ़ रहीं थी। भीड़-की-भीड़़ उनका उपदेश सुनने और अपने रोगों से छुटकारा पाने के लिए उनके पास आती थी,

16) और वे अलग जा कर एकान्त स्थानों में प्रार्थना किया करते थे।

📚 मनन-चिंतन

हमारे आज के मनन-चिंतन में प्रभु येसु आज एक कोढ़ी को चंगा करते हैं। पुराने ज़माने में कोढ़ एक भयंकर बीमारी के रूप में जाना जाता था। जिन लोगों को यह रोग हो जाता तो वे ना केवल शारीरिक रूप से कष्ट उठाते क्योंकि उनकी शरीर गलकर सड़ने लगता, बल्कि वे समाज और धर्म से बहिष्कृत किए जाने का दर्द भी सहते थे। उन्हें शापित मानकर समाज और लोगों से दूर निकाल दिया जाता था। वे एक मारे हुए इंसान से भी बदतर थे, ना उनके पास स्वास्थ्य था, ना समाज में कोई स्थान, ना इंसान जैसी गरिमा और ना ही आरामदायक या सम्माजनक मृत्यु ही उन्हें नसीब होती थी। वह कोढ़ी प्रभु येसु से आग्रह करता है, “यदि आप चाहें तो मुझे चंगा कर सकते हैं।” वह ईश्वर जो मानवजाति को बचाने के लिए धरती पर आए, वह इस कोढ़ी को बचना नहीं चाहेंगे? आप उनसे आग्रह करके देखिए, वह आपके लिए जो उत्तम है वही करेंगे।

उस कोढ़ी को चंगा कर प्रभु ना केवल उसे अच्छा स्वास्थ्य प्रदान करते हैं बल्कि उसके सामाजिक जीवन को चंगा करते हैं। वह उसके अंदर ईश्वर की संतान होने की गरिमा को पुनः स्थापित करते हैं। इस दुनिया में उनके आने का यही मक़सद है, संसार की मुरझायी हुई मानवता को पुनर्जीवित करने और प्रत्येक मनुष्य में ईश्वर के प्रतिरूप को पुनर्स्थापित करने के लिए। आज भी वह अथक इसी काम में लगे रहते हैं। हे प्रभु इस दुनिया में आकर हमें पुनः चंगा करने और मानवीय गरिमा प्रदान करने के लिए आपको धन्यवाद। आमेन।

📚 REFLECTION

Jesus heals a leper in today’s reflection for us. Leprosy was a horrible disease in olden days. People who had this disease suffered not only physically as their skin got rotten and their wounds would not heal. They also suffered alienation from the society and religion. They were considered outcast and sent away from the people and society. They were worse than a dead person, they had no health, no place in the society, no dignity as human beings not even a peaceful death. This leper asks Jesus, “If you choose, you can make me clean.” How God, who came to save humanity wouldn’t choose to save this leper? You ask him and he will always choose what is best for you.

By healing the leper Jesus not only restores his health but restores his social status, making him acceptable in society again. He restores his human dignity as image of God and child of God. This is the very purpose of his coming to heal the broken humanity and restore the image of God in each and every child of his. He continues to work tirelessly. Thank you Jesus for coming into this world and giving us new life and restoring our dignity. Amen.
